A South San Francisco produce wholesaler employee allegedly embezzled $1.9 million over four months, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.

Kyle Loveness, a longtime employee of JC Cheyne & Co. in charge of finances, is accused of sending the money to a private account in Mexico through wire transfers from June to October, the DA’s Office said.

Loveness, 61, of Foster City, started sending small amounts that grew larger and reached $529,000 at its height, the DA’s Office said. The 13 transactions went unnoticed until Loveness went on vacation, and another employee noticed the irregularities and that there wasn’t enough money to cover expenses.

According to prosecutors, Loveness claimed the money was for a timeshare in Mexico. The money has not been found, according to prosecutors. Loveness remains in custody, and his next court date is Nov. 10.

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – An 81-year-old metro woman is still trying to financially recover months after her handyman and caretaker allegedly withdrew thousands of dollars from her bank account over the course of three months.

Alice Dragoo told KFOR two of her close friends introduced her to Joseph Wisner late last year.

“A really super nice young man that I thought was honest and straightforward. I hired him to take care of me when I had shoulder surgery because I didn’t want strangers in the house. [When] I had met him, he was going through a hard time, so I thought I’d give him a helping hand,” said Dragoo.

Wisner was also hired to help out around the house and do minor repairs.

Dragoo and Wisner became good friends and often went out together, according to Dragoo.

Man rides on back of semi-truck down I-35 from Wichita to Logan Co.

Dragoo said while they were out and about one day, she gave Wisner her debit card to make a one-time withdraw from her International Bank of Commerce (IBC) account.

Dragoo also gave Wisner her pin number, he withdrew money and then they went on about their day.

“But then I got a bank statement and he had been taking my bank card and drawing up to 3 to $500 a night out of my checking account, my savings, the only thing I had left pushing for this all these last few years,” explained Dragoo.

Dragoo said she hardly ever checks her bank statement, “but that’s the way it was. I didn’t catch in time. My mistake.”

During some of those withdraws, Dragoo claimed to have been in Colorado visiting family, so she knew something wasn’t right.

Dragoo confronted Winser, but she said he never admitted to taking her money.

Dragoo said the IBC had video footage of Wisner withdrawing from her account at an ATM on N. Portland.

Dragoo and her family were able to produce the video and handed it over to Oklahoma City Police, according to officials.

Wisner was eventually kicked out of his home shortly after finding out.

“It appears that he had been stealing her ATM card, going out using it and coming back and replacing it without her having knowledge of it,” said Msgt. Gary Knight with OKCPD.

Dragoo said she is a heavy sleeper, and so while she was asleep, Wisner would take her card and use it during the nighttime.

Although Wisner never admitted to the crime in person, he texted Dragoo saying, “I’m sorry I let you down. I let a woman get the best of me and was trying to woo her is the stupid truth but I have always intended on returning what I borrowed. I’m sorry for the pain I’ve caused you. I never wanted to hurt you. Thank you for helping me. Ich liebe dich…”

A text Joseph Wisner sent to Alice Dragoo on April 11. KFOR Photo.

Dragoo has yet to receive that money back though.

On top of the $11,000 in cash that was allegedly stolen, Dragoo said she lost about $12,000 in family memories and tools.

“For the first time in my life, I had to ask for help for medication that my heart doctor says I have to have. I couldn’t afford it. I should have been able to afford my medicine even with my insurance paying the majority of it. I couldn’t afford the $300. That’s what it came down to. $300. I didn’t have it,” stated Dragoo.

Car part shortage leads to months long wait for drivers

Dragoo has tried contacting the IBC to get her money back, but she said talking with her bank has been a dead end.

“The bank said because I was with him one time and giving the numbers to my card to withdraw money from ATM that I gave him permission. They will not honor all the times he used it without me with it,” explained Dragoo.

She said she understands her specific branch may have to go through corporate to get the money back, but she doesn’t understand why they haven’t been able to do so far.

News 4 reached out to Dragoo’s specific IBC branch, but the representative said she had never heard about the situation and took our information down to pass it along to someone else.

We have not received a call back.

An arrest warrant was issued July 27 for Wisner.

He was arrested Monday and now faces charges for second degree burglary, elderly exploitation, and possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent.

“I feel better that he’s going to have to pay. I mean, he’s got to grow up and face what he’s done is wrong and straighten his life up. He’s got a choice,” said Dragoo.

Dragoo wants her situation to be a lesson to others to do background research on who they’re letting into their home.

She said she feels like she can’t trust other people now, which is what she never wanted.

The loved-up handyman who allegedly stabbed a Queens mother of two to death before stuffing her body in a duffel bag and dumping it along a walking path told investigators he was enraged because he thought she had given him a sexually transmitted disease and cheated on him . “She gave me HIV,” Bonola told detectives last month, according to the New York Post. “She lied to me, she used me. She told me that she loved me. She couldn’t be with one person.” Bonola, 44, was arraigned Tuesday on charges he followed Orsolya Gaal, 51, home on April 16, getting into an argument that would prove fatal when she told him their affair was over. Then, according to police, he grabbed a knife and slashed her neck. Prosecutors said Bonola went on to stab Gaal 58 times in her basement. He allegedly dragged her body out of the house as her 13-year-old son slept upstairs. Bonola, who was arrested on April 21, also told police he had thrown Gaal’s laptop in the Hudson River, believing there to be “sex videos” on the hard drive.

Feb 15, 4:15 pm: San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin dropped felony property charges filed against a woman Tuesday after decrying San Francisco police’s alleged practice of using DNA from rape victims during searches for criminal suspects.

“It is my commitment going forward to never use DNA obtained in this unlawful way,” Boudin said during a briefing. “Our conversations with the leadership at SFPD Crime Lab suggest that this is a routine practice not only in San Francisco but at other crime labs across the state.”

A spokesperson for Boudin’s office declined to comment further on the particulars of the case to SFGATE in an effort to protect the woman’s privacy.

But as the revelation continues to make national headlines, San Francisco Supervisor Hillary Ronen and California state Sen. Scott Wiener are calling for state and city bans on the practice.

Feb 14, 4:45 pm: The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office has come forward with allegations that the San Francisco Police Department used a woman’s DNA previously obtained from a rape kit to arrest her for a property crime.

San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin announced the bombshell during a Monday press conference, as first reported by The San Francisco Chronicle. (SFGATE and The Chronicle are both owned by Hearst but operate independently of each other.)

Boudin alleges that he was informed of this police practice last week, The Chronicle reports.

If true, Boudin said, the revelation would further discourage survivors of rape and sexual assault in San Francisco from coming forward. SFPD has faced scrutiny in the past related to its mishandling of sexual assault cases. A 2014 KGO investigation found hundreds of untested rape kits spanning nearly a decade, and in 2019, a woman petitioned the US Supreme Court to take up a case against the Police Department for its mishandling of her rape.

“I am disturbed that victims who have the courage to undergo an invasive examination to help identify their perpetrators are being treated like criminals rather than supported as crime victims,” Boudin said in a statement to SFGATE. “We should encourage survivors to come forward — not collect evidence to use against them in the future. This practice treats victims like evidence, not human beings. This is legally and ethically wrong. My office is demanding that this practice end immediately, and is Encourage local and state legislators to introduce legislation to end this practice in California. We remain committed to doing everything in our power to support survivors of sexual violence.”

San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott declined to confirm the allegations in a statement, saying that “our existing DNA collection policies have been legally vetted and conform with state and national forensic standards.”

“We must never create disincentives for crime victims to cooperate with police, and if it’s true that DNA collected from a rape or sexual assault victim has been used by SFPD to identify and apprehend that person as a suspect in another crime, I’m committed to ending the practice,” he said in a statement.

The allegation is likely to intensify ongoing tensions between San Francisco police and the DA’s Office. Earlier this month, Scott announced that the Police Department would no longer cooperate with Boudin’s office to independently investigate police misconduct after alleging that the office violated the memorandum by withholding information. A DA’s Office spokesperson denied the claims.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta, San Francisco Mayor London Breed and San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu announced earlier Monday that they would intervene to ensure an agreement between the two offices.

Bay City News Service contributed to this report.

A San Francisco building inspector resigned last week over rotten permits he’d issued on two lots and an inadequate loan from a developer, but now the dam is bursting with a school of his rotten permits spanning the city.

The youngest Hydra head to emerge from the ever widening public corruption scandal surrounding Mohammed Nuru – which, as things stand, also scandals about approval accelerators, allegations of bribery by Recology, resignations under fire from the head of the commission for public utilities and the city administrator (plus a cocaine Mini scandal) and check fraud involving the former President of the Department of Building Inspection Commission – is an independent Department of Building Inspection (DBI) scandal involving an inspector granting inexplicable permits to a property developer dealing with an unreported loan of $ 180,000 had smeared his hand could not answer. When SFist first reported on this scandal earlier this month, we joked that one of the properties in question in their first floor retail space had a storefront for a payday advance, and we were all “seedy loans, haha! Got it?”

That got a lot less funny six days later when Mission Local reported another property about 20 meters from the check cashing point in Visitacion Valley that was a scaffolded death trap where “Twenty illegal units were secretly built into this new mix “. Structure of use by converting commercial space and subdividing existing units. ”The engineer featured in this death trap was the same developer who made the seedy $ 180,000 loan, and hours after the Mission Local article was published, the recipient transformed of the loan, DBI inspector Bernard Curran, quickly turned his leave of absence into a termination.

He resigned after it became known that he had given this property developer suspicious permits for two lots. But today the Chronicle opens the floodgates to many, many more suspicious permits Curran issued, including “illegal entities” (Oceanside), permits to work “beyond the scope of the permit” (Sunset), and an Excelsior household that illegal “is divided into several” units. ”

These are not even the focus of the Chron article. The focus of Chron’s article is on a property in Miraloma, near Diamond Heights, where another inspector double-checked Curran’s work and found so many inappropriateness and outright falsifications that he became a whistleblower.

The whistleblower reported “an OK to pour a retaining wall without a permit”, “falsification of foundation plans”, “plan review process was falsified” and “risks of undermining slope protection” [other] Properties.”

Given the steep, hilly nature of the neighborhood, this could have been a tragedy in Miami, albeit on a smaller scale. And to be honest, none of this is new, the Board of Appeal hatched these complaints two years ago. But it is now coming back to light as we see that the DBI had pay-to-permit practices, if not widespread.

City Attorney General John Coté said in a statement to the Chronicle: “Our investigation is focused on tracking down employees and contractors who are abusing public trust. This work continues. We follow the evidence wherever it leads. “

Many of these complaints have one common denominator – the division of a property into additional units. That’s a trending idea for solving the SF housing crisis, and Supervisor Rafael Mandelman’s suggestion, “Turn everything into a four-plex”, is getting rave reviews from YIMBYs and NIMBYs alike.

One problem with this proposal is What if everyone who approves Fourplexes is completely corrupt? Yes, there is a new (interim) sheriff at DBI, but the division of households is obviously a catastrophe for corruption when it comes to who gives permission. Tenants who live in subdivisions refer to the building under renovation as a “living hell”, and nobody likes the sound of jackhammers and the like. But the bigger concern isn’t just corruption (and let’s face it, more than one building inspector has likely taken a favor or two) but the potentially deadly consequences of hastily approved structural abbreviations mixed in with high density and crowded buildings.

Michael Guess, 26, used the app to search for cars in the area.
Police said Wednesday that they had arrested a man who repeatedly threatened an Asian American woman in a San Francisco bakery, in one case hand copying a gun and simulating people being shot in it.

Darrell Hunter, 45, was arrested Tuesday near the store in the Tenderloin neighborhood after the woman called police, officer Adam Lobsinger said in a statement.

The woman first called officers on Sunday when she accused Hunter of entering the bakery and threatening to “shoot Chinese people”. The woman told officers it was the third day in a row that Hunter entered the store and caused a disturbance. She said it was the first time she had called the police about the threat of violence, Lobsinger said.

She called the police again Tuesday after saying Hunter returned and used his hand to mimick a gun. Hunter had left the store when the officers arrived, but the police found him a few blocks away and arrested him.

The arrest comes amid an increase in violence against the Asian-American and Pacific islander communities, including several attacks in California. In an attack in San Francisco earlier that month that drew national attention, a man slapped 75-year-old Xiao Zhen Xie in the face, leaving her with two black eyes.

And in New York City, a suspect was arrested Wednesday after an Asian American woman was kicked and trampled in an attack on a surveillance video this week. Activists say Asian American parents and business owners fear their children or workplaces will be targeted, and many community members are afraid to go public.

In San Francisco, Hunter was jailed on suspicion of three criminal threats, two burglary, stalking, parole violation and hate crime enhancement. The police didn’t know if he had hired a lawyer to speak on his behalf.

Hunter has been suspended for vandalism after joining a company four times in two weeks in 2018, shouting racist nicknames and, in one case, damaging restaurant furniture.
