A pedestrian was killed after a SamTrans bus struck a 63-year-old man at the South San Francisco BART Station Monday night, a SamTrans spokesperson confirmed.

At approximately 7:59 pm on Monday, a pedestrian was struck by a northbound Route 130 bus, resulting in his death, SamTrans said. Emergency personnel, including the transit police, SamTrans management staff, and the coroner, responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and the man was identified as being from San Francisco.

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office did not release the name of the man killed, and SamTrans did not have any additional information. The South San Francisco station is located at 1333 Mission Road.

Nemesio Isorena’s smile is what his family says they will always remember most about him.

The man died a day before his 63rd birthday on Halloween night after he was hit by a SamTrans bus in South San Francisco.

“We were actually going to celebrate his birthday,” his niece Alyssa Isorena said. “Like he was getting ready for that. Maybe he was going to buy something at Trader Joe’s for his birthday.”

Nemesio was not married and had no children, but was loved by his siblings, nephews and nieces. He also recently became a naturalized United States citizen – a proud American. The family has opened up a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral services.

Family members also are waiting for more answers to answers on what happened the night of his death.

“We really don’t know what happened to him,” Alyssa said. “We’re still looking for answers.”

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office deferred NBC Bay Area to SamTrans when seeking comment on Nemesio’s death.

SamTrans issued the following statement Friday:

“We are sending our deepest sympathies and most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Isorena, who was fatally injured in an incident involving a SamTrans bus on October 31. We have reached out to the family to see how we can assist them “During this very difficult time. The safety of our community members, passengers and employees is always our top priority, so anytime an incident of this nature occurs, we are deeply concerned. We are currently working with all respective law enforcement and safety agencies regarding the incident, and in light of these pending investigations, we cannot provide any additional details.”

Meanwhile, the family continues trying to heal.

“We really don’t know what happened and it’s really hard for us to think about it,” Alyssa said. “We still can’t believe this happened. I’m still waiting for him to come home. But he’s never going to be here.”

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – A San Francisco Muni bus company rated the bus fight scene from Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and even actor Simu Liu thinks it “[expletive] great.”

The first major action sequence in the film is a fight between Shang-Chi and his father’s henchmen, which broke out in a moving bus.

Between punches and kicks in the bus, the film adds exterior shots of the bus racing up and down the recognizable hills of San Francisco. (If you thought car break-ins was bad, imagine your car was smashed because a Marvel superhero couldn’t get the fight off the bus).

The operator, who mentions @that_mc on Twitter, tweeted his comment on the action frame by frame; including discrepancies about what the film shows for the bus route and what it would actually be.

Elon Musk trolls Bernie Sanders into selling his shares

Among the highlights of the funny tweets is that a real bus driver would “definitely” be charged by the SFMTA for indiscretions such as wearing personal headphones while driving and depressing the accelerator instead of stopping the bus.

The thread also slams the driver for averting his gaze from the road and looking over his shoulder to see what is happening behind him, rather than using the mirror that is placed precisely for that purpose.

Also, he wasn’t buckled up, so Mack brings up whether the film operator could use worker composition to fall out during the mayhem.

The whole thread is worth a scroll to anyone who has seen this scene and given some thought:

Finally take a look at Shang-Chi, here as a bus operator, to evaluate The Bus Scene’s SFT transit factors:

– Mack, yes, that Mack (@that_mc) November 13, 2021

“Twitter is wild,” said Mack after Liu, who plays the title character, responded to the thread.

The earlier scenes in the film take place in San Francisco, where Shang-Chi and his best friend Katy, played by Awkwafina, live. It hit theaters in September 2021.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – It’s been a year and a half since the San Francisco transit system was badly hit by the pandemic. Although most of the bus and subway lines have been restored, things are not running as usual.

City officials and community leaders are urging MUNI to fully restore lines, especially in underserved communities.

RELATED: 40 SFPD officers on vacation for failing to get a COVID vaccine

In April 2020, MUNI had to close 51 of its 68 transit lines.

“Our service will be deeply unreliable. There will be long gaps in service,” said the then SFMTA director.

“Today there are five bus routes that are still temporarily suspended and serve all parts of Western Addition and Japantown,” said Jeremy Chan of the Japantown Task Force. “Lines like 2 and 3 are especially important for our seniors.”

Japantown has a high density of senior citizens and senior services.

VIDEO: SF In-N-Out sends a strong message against the COVID vaccine mandate

Pressure from the community was paramount in forcing Muni to announce that service would resume on three of the five lines from February next year.

“We will not use the pandemic to weaken and permanently get rid of buses that are critical to our public transport system,” said San Francisco Supervisor Dean Preston.

MUNI told ABC7 News that they made an average of 344,000 trips just last week, compared to an average of nearly 750,000 before the pandemic. This is because the passenger numbers have not recovered.

“It could be partly because people are still working from home, it could be partly because people are concerned about the rise in anti-Asian violence,” Chan said.

RELATED: 120 SFPD officials could lose their jobs because of vaccine mandate

In a statement, MUNI said, “Looking ahead to the next 6 months, our goal is to restore more once we can address long-term funding.”

While MUNI has suffered losses, the transit system has received millions in federal aid.

“This is a question, are we going to take a savings approach where we don’t spend the money we get from the federal government because we’re saving it for a rainy day, or are we now spending aggressively to make sure we? restore bus traffic so people can have their buses and the economy can recover, “said Supervisor Preston.

Some routes have been closed due to operator bottlenecks due to the city’s mandate that after November 1st, only vaccinated employees are allowed to work.

A man who allegedly beat an elderly man to death at a bus stop has been taken to a state mental hospital for treatment, if space is available, the San Mateo District Attorney said.

The court on Tuesday ordered Vincent Jesus Osegueda, 35, of South San Francisco to go to Napa State Hospital when beds are available, which can often take about four to six months. His next court case is June 1st, when the court will be informed if he gets a bed or is on a waiting list and is still in the county jail. He is currently in the county jail.

Osegueda is accused of beating a 62-year-old man to death at a bus stop near South Airport Boulevard and Linden Avenue while the victim waited to go to work at the airport. Osegueda is said to have approached the victim, got into an argument, wrestled him to the ground and then beat him to death. A bus driver driving by and a worker nearby saw the argument and called 911.

Police arrived and found Osegueda trying to hide the victim’s body near a fence 25 feet from the sidewalk by placing the body in ivy and trying to cover it with dried leaves. Osegueda had injuries to her ankles and hands and was arrested but declined to testify. There is no known motive for the attack and the crime appears to be an arbitrary act of violence.

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – The San Francisco Municipal Transit Agency (SFMTA) plans to reopen all subway stations this Saturday and introduce a new temporary bus route, officials said this week.

The SFMTA was already restoring the bus routes as the city shifted into less restrictive tiers earlier this month. With this announcement, the agency also announced that the subway tunnels have been modernized and have a working WiFi service.

CONTINUE READING: “Hear the constant gunfire”; Oakland Police are investigating two murders and nearly a dozen shootings

“To move San Francisco forward, we must do everything we can to get Muni back to full functionality,” said San Francisco Mayor London Breed in a statement. “As we reopen more shops and activities, it is important that our transit service can accommodate more passengers and help people get around our city.”

The city closed its metro stations during the lockdown last year, but after the city entered the yellow row last week, the SFMTA has continued its reopening plans.

The agency also listened to feedback and decided to create a new temporary bus route – the 36/52 Special. This bus route will serve the hill districts of Forest Hill, Miraloma and Sunnyside on a loop between Forest Hill Station and Glen Park Station.

With the restrictions lifted in the city, the agency is bringing back the historic railroad lines as well as the N Judah subway service, which will resume its full route between Ocean Beach and 4th and King Streets (Caltrain). The T Third will be extended to the West Portal and then continued as K Ingleside to Balboa Park Station.

The SFMTA made all changes to the service available on its website.

“Without public transportation, there is no economic recovery,” said Jeffrey Tumlin, SFMTA transportation director. “Our people are committed to keeping San Francisco moving and working tirelessly to bring Muni service back better than ever.”
