MLB’s most sought-after free agent, Aaron Judge, has touched down in San Francisco.

A video captured Judge upon arrival, where he gave an interesting remark about what he’s doing in town.

“Visiting some family and friends, that’s about it. That’s about it,” he said winking to the camera.

Bronx, NY: New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo and New York Yankees center fielder Aaron Judge in the dugout in the 3rd inning in game 4 of the ALCS at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York on Oct 23, 2022.
(Photo by Thomas A. Ferrara/Newsday RM via Getty Images)

Judge is from Linden Calif., which is about 90 minutes away from San Francisco where the Giants, a team connected to the 2022 AL MVP in free agency, plays. Judge also grew up a Giants fan during his days of terrorizing baseball teams while playing for Linden High School and Fresno State, eventually being selected by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

So what exactly does Judge’s “friends and family” have planned?

“We got something,” he said smiling.

AFTER YANKEES’ ANTHONY RIZZO OPTS TO STAY IN BRONX, HE LOBBIES FOR AARON JUDGE TO RETURN

Looking to best the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West, the Giants are looking to make a splash, and there would be none better than a homegrown product like Judge. And while there are many other suitors, including the Yankees, San Fran do have money to spend.

According to Spotrac, the Giants have the 14th-highest payroll in MLB at $95.95 million right now.

On the other hand, teams like the Yankees and New York Mets are at the top of the bunch and still willing to open their check books for Judge’s services.

Anthony Rizzo, who recently re-signed with the Yankees on a two-year deal, lobbied for his clubhouse buddy in Judge to head back to the Bronx.

“I hope Judge stays just for the sake of the game,” Rizzo said Wednesday, “because you see a lot of franchise icons not getting what they deserve for the team that they have done so much for.”

Rizzo has even said Judge deserves to be the next Yankees captain if he re-signs.

ROB MANFRED ‘ABSOLUTELY CONFIDENT’ YANKEES, METS DID NOT COLLUDE IN AARON JUDGE SWEEPSTAKES

But the offers will be steep following his MVP campaign, and it may come down to who outbids the rest of the field. Will the Giants step up? Will the Yankees, Mets or maybe even the Dodgers flex their financial muscles?

Judge and his team will find out just how far each team is willing to expand their payroll in the coming weeks.

The 6-foot-7 slugger was named the AL MVP this past Thursday, receiving all but two first-place votes after a season where he set the American League record for most home runs in a single season with 62.

Other than home runs, he also led the majors in RBI (131), on-base percentage (.425), slugging percentage (.686), runs (133), OPS+ (211) and total bases (391).

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

His 111 walks were tops in the American League, and his .311 batting average ranked second in the AL, putting him in the Triple Crown conversation until the last couple of days of the season.

AUSTIN (KXAN) – If you’ve seen squirrels recently lying on their stomach, arms and legs spread apart, you are not alone. It’s a seasonal squirrel position called “splooting” that helps critters cool off on a hot day.

An Austin family discovered a squirrel that took it to the next level – over an HVAC system. It pushed the squirrel’s tail right into the air, which they caught on camera.

Why squirrels “splash” in the heat and what we can do to help them

Although the small mammals may look like they are in stealth mode, it turns out that they are just trying to cool off.

“You basically get so much of your body on a cooler surface. If it’s cooler than the outside air, put your body on it and it will cool your temperature, ”Jill Calcote of Moonshine Wildlife Rehabilitation in Cedar Park told KXAN around this time last year when viewers noticed similar language.

For more information on how you can help squirrels “sploot”, see KXAN’s story from last year.

Police are looking for two cheeky and slightly injured idiots who robbed a UPS driver in broad daylight – and another driver’s dash cam captured the entire incident, including the suspect’s weird escape.

The attack happened last week in busy downtown San Francisco, where a suspect – with a face mask – jumped out of a car and started calling a UPS driver. to beat Minh.

Minh told KPIX-TV that the attacker first stole a package from his shopping cart and it turned violent when he tried to get it back. Although he tried his best to fend off the blows, he said he was hit in the face and lost 2 teeth … in addition to a black eye.

The guy who hit Minh dropped the package and tried to jump into his buddy’s car – but when they tried to speed away the puncher HARD fell out of the moving vehicle !!!

That’s the only great part of this video. Well, that and the fact that the suspect’s license plate is clearly visible.

No arrests have been made yet, but from this video you’d think it is only a matter of time before the police track down these tools.

As for Minh, his foot was injured under the getaway car and he is now on crutches. There is a GoFundMe account founded to help him relax and support his family of 5.

After lurking around a neighborhood of San Francisco for two days and alerting some residents, a 2-year-old male mountain lion weighing 100 pounds was captured Wednesday night after retreating up a tree in Bernal Heights.

The puma couldn’t get out of the car discreetly – as it was in the middle of town, surrounded by curious neighbors and gawkers – and was shot by officials from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. They took him to the Oakland Zoo, where he waited for a thorough physical exam that night.

Officials from the zoo, state, and the Bay Area Puma Project, a mountain lion research group, plan to relocate the apparently healthy and unharmed animal to a friendlier, unfamiliar environment on Thursday afternoon in Santa Clara County.

Bernal Heights is a residential neighborhood south of the San Francisco Missionary District, not a semi-wild suburb where mountain lions are common sightings in California. This was first reported in the neighborhood on Tuesday and had been seen a few days earlier in Pacifica – it was moving north along the peninsula.

How he got to Bernal Heights – away from any obvious wildlife corridor – is unclear. But Zara McDonald, director and biologist for the Puma Rescue Group, said mountain lions were visiting San Francisco and other urban areas more often than many people think.

VIDEO | 00:29

Mountain Lion captured alive after roaming the San Francisco neighborhood

A mountain lion captured in the San Francisco neighborhood of Bernal Heights on Wednesday can be seen at the Oakland Zoo on Thursday.

Male mountain lions in the Bay Area generally occupy approximately 100 square miles of territory. Since their natural habitat is restricted by human development and further restricted by fire and drought, they can venture beyond their typical range.

That cougar had been in town at least once, McDonald said. The Puma project had tied him up before.

She said lions have really good internal navigational compasses, “but once they’re in town it can get tricky.”

Such dense urban areas are stressful for them, she said. And in this case, the lion penetrated so deeply into the city, and was soon surrounded by well-meaning and curious onlookers, that it became almost impossible for him to get out on his own.

After two days it became clear that he needed help.

It was at this point that the Department of Fish and Wildlife stepped on the scene, department spokesman Ken Paglia said, adding that state agents had been ready for a few days to help the San Francisco Department of Animal Control, the first responders.

Early Thursday, the state brought the lion to the Oakland Zoo, where a team of vets and technicians got ready.

“We’re here for you around the clock,” said Nik Dehejia, the zoo’s manager, citing the zoo’s 17,000-square-foot veterinary clinic, which is ready to accept animals in emergency situations.

Dr. Alex Herman, the zoo’s vice president for veterinary services, said the mountain lion was “so pretty and so beautiful and so very healthy”.

She said she and her team did a thorough exam – checked teeth, eyes, ears, abdomen, heart, lungs, bladder, and testicles – and given him some vaccinations for diseases like feline leukemia and SIV, as well as anti-worming drugs and fleas and ticks.

Almost all wild animals have some parasites, she said, but because this lion has had some stressful days, eradicating these freeloaders would make his transition back to the wild easier.

Three groups – the Oakland Zoo, the state, local animal control, and the Puma Project – have come together for these rescues to help wild creatures survive.

“They no longer need to be shipped,” she said. Instead, they can be transported and shared.

Erin Harrison, the zoo’s vice president of marketing, said not all mountain lions sent to the zoo are released back into the wild. Last summer, Redding staff received a young male cub whose paws had been badly burned in a fire. They performed several operations on the young animal. Upon recovery, he was taken to the Columbus Zoo, where he now lives.

Called “Captain Cal” by the fire department that saved him, he was transported with two other orphans who were being looked after by the zoo at the time.

In addition to fire, human interference, and drought, mountain lions and other wild animals face threats when exposed to toxic chemicals, including rodenticides, McDonald said.

She cited a state report showing a high incidence of predators in California dying after eating rodents that have ingested anticoagulant poisons.

A two-year-old 100-pound mountain lion, hiding in the San Francisco neighborhood after warning some residents for two days, retired to a Burnal Heights tree and was captured Wednesday night.

He was a blast in the middle of the city, surrounded by curious neighbors and gokers, so that he couldn’t find an inconspicuous exit. The puma was thrown by a California Fish and Wildlife Service police officer. They took him to the Auckland Zoo, where he waited for a thorough physical exam that night.

Puma Project in Zoos, States and the Bay Area – Mountain Lion Research and Rescue Group – We plan to release apparently healthy and intact animals to a private but friendly setting in Santa Clara County on Thursday afternoon.

Bernal Heights is a residential area south of the city’s mission district, rather than the semi-wild suburbs of California’s mountain lions. This was first reported in the neighborhood on Tuesday and was seen a few days ago in Pacifica – along the peninsula to the north.

It is not known how he arrived at Vernal Heights, away from the apparent wildlife corridor. But Zara McDonald, director and biologist at Puma Rescue Group, said Mountain Lion. San Francisco and other urban areas more common than many think.

On Thursday afternoon, the mountain lions will be returned to the wild from Auckland Zoo.

(Ruben Manes / Auckland Zoo)

Male mountain lions in the Bay Area typically occupy an area of approximately 100 square miles. Their natural habitat is under pressure from human development, and fires and droughts further limit the available territory so that they can venture beyond normal territory.

According to McDonald’s, this puma has been to town at least once. The Puma Project put him on a collar on a previous occasion.

She said the lion has a really good internal navigational compass. “But when a lion walks into town, it can be difficult.”

She said it was so crowded that urban areas were stressful for her. And in this case, the lion crept deep into the city and was soon surrounded by well-meaning and curious onlookers, which made it almost impossible to leave alone.

And two days later it became clear that he needed help.

That’s when the fish and wildlife service appeared, said station spokesman Ken Paglia, who said state agents were ready to help the San Francisco Animal Care Agency, the first responder.

The previous Thursday, the state brought the lion to the Auckland Zoo, where a team of veterinarians and technicians were ready.

Nik Dehejia, CEO of the zoo, quoted the zoo’s 17,000 square meter veterinary clinic as saying: “We’re always on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week” and take animals with us in an emergency. He said he was ready.

Veterinarians collect basic data from animals, perform blood tests, make observations, and help professionals better understand the health and pressures that lions face in the bay.

Erin Harrison, vice president of marketing at the zoo, said not all mountain lions sent to the zoo will return to the wild. Last summer, the employees received a small child from Reading. The child’s feet were badly burned in the fire. They performed some operations on young animals. After recovering, he was taken to the Columbus Zoo and is now there.

Called “Captain Cal” by the fire department who saved him, he was brought together with two other orphans who were being looked after by the zoo at the time.

In addition to fires, human invasions, and droughts, mountain lions and other wildlife face threats from exposure to toxic chemicals like rodenticides, according to McDonald’s.

She mentioned a state report showing high prevalence of rodenticides in predators across the state – the immune systems of animals that eat contaminated rodents, which can be extremely fatal. Anticoagulants that can reduce.

Captain Amy Corso woke up at 1:30 a.m. last Thursday to the sound of her toddler crying.

Corso didn’t have to get up to work until 3am, but she couldn’t get back to sleep because she immediately thought about the task at hand – tracking down and capturing a lost mountain lion in the city.

Corso is the sales manager for San Francisco’s Animal Care & Control. In the past few days, she and her colleague Stephanie Pone had been devoured by the wildcat streets at night. The two had knocked on the sidewalk, patrolling the city streets, interviewing neighbors and building security guards, asking them to share surveillance footage.

“When we started piecing together how far this animal went and where it was going, it became clear that it didn’t know what it was doing,” Corso said. “I was very worried about this guy, especially when I saw footage of him walking into small courtyard areas, places he couldn’t get out when people walked in. I didn’t want him cornered and scared has been. “”

Corso was in her vehicle at 2 a.m., patrolling the city. Pone came to see her at 4 a.m. hoping to find this mountain lion.
