FAIRFIELD (BCN) – Police in Fairfield red-tagged a commercial building and a residence last week for being too dangerous for occupation or habitation after more than 1,500 marijuana plants were discovered being grown illegally inside the two buildings.

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Bell Avenue at about 7:15 am last Friday regarding a suspicious incident and possible burglary. Once on scene, major damage to a roll-up garage door was detected and the front door to the building was ajar. Inside during a search, police found multiple rooms filled with more than 900 marijuana plants, grow lights, illegal and exposed electrical wiring modified plumbing, ventilation systems and unknown chemicals.

No one was located inside the commercial building.

During the early morning hours of last Saturday, police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Dover Avenue following up on a report of a residential burglary in progress and gunfire being exchanged. When officers arrived, they found the front door pried open, broken glass and the front door riddled with bullet holes. During the investigation, more than 600 marijuana plants were found inside along with firearms, grow lights, illegal and exposed electrical wiring ventilation systems and unknown chemicals.

There have been no arrests.

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) – Fairfield police on Monday confirmed the arrests of three people – including an active Air Force member – over the weekend after a 19-year-old Carmel woman was killed in a Fairfield house.

Police said investigations into a missing persons report led to the discovery of human remains in Monterey County.

On Saturday evening, the Fairfield Police Department filed a missing person report regarding 19-year-old Carmel resident Leilani Beauchamp. Police said she was last seen at a Halloween party in Sacramento early Saturday morning. Beauchamp left with two men who are active Air Force members who currently live in a residence on Cascade Lane in Fairfield.

Fairfield Police and members of the Office of Special Investigation (OSI) at Travis Air Force Base worked together on the case and discovered that a murder occurred at the Cascade Lane residence that resulted in Beauchamp’s death. On Sunday, Fairfield detectives and members of the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department were able to track down Beauchamps remains in Monterey County.

Police say the three people arrested in connection with Beauchamp’s death are 21-year-old Jessica Quintanilla from Pittsburg, who was arrested for murder; 20-year-old male Fairfield resident Juan Parra-Peralta arrested on charges of accessory to murder; and 27-year-old male Pittsburgh male, Marco Quintanilla, who was arrested for an accessory to murder and parole violation (he is currently on parole in connection with an attempted murder conviction).

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) – Fairfield firefighters responded to a vegetation fire that closed Highway 12 Monday night.

Firefighters responded around 8:30 pm to the two-acre fire on 12 State Highway and Beck Avenue, which the Fairfield Fire Department said “was moving at a moderate rate.”

Eastbound Highway 12 has been closed. Authorities warned motorists to avoid the area.

According to the authorities, “the forward movement was stopped” within about an hour and the crews mopped up.
