San Francisco is arguably America’s most progressive city, so the lopsided recall of three school-board members on Feb. 15 stunned political observers across the country. Voters ousted Alison Collins, Gabriela López and Faauuga Moliga by margins of 59%, 48% and 42%, respectively. Other members were spared because they weren’t on the board long enough to qualify for a recall vote.

It’s not hard for anyone outside of the social-justice-warrior hothouse to understand what happened. Instead of trying to get the city’s schools running after the COVID-19 shutdowns, the city’s school board championed symbolic, far-left political issues that even most San Franciscans — including its liberal political leaders — found distasteful.

“My take is that it was really about the frustration of the Board of Education doing their fundamental job,” said Mayor London Breed. “And that is to make sure that our children are getting educated, that they get back into the classroom. … They were focusing on other things that were clearly a distraction.”

That’s spot on. As the pandemic raged, the board was fixed on renaming 44 San Francisco public schools. It abandoned the effort in April 2021 when the blowback became too much to handle. The effort was absurd, as the board sought to remove names of figures including Abraham Lincoln, naturalist John Muir and Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

To highlight the idiocy, the board tried to change the name of Alamo Elementary School after it “mistakenly assumed that (it) was named for the Texas battle and not for the Spanish word for ‘poplar tree’,” SFist reported. The board also tried to paint over a historical Works Progress Administration mural at George Washington High School — an act that brought comparisons to the Taliban.

More substantively, the board changed a merit-based admissions policy at a top high school and replaced it with a lottery system to promote diversity — something that annoyed the city’s large Asian American community. Most of these battles resulted in litigation — not to mention contentious public meetings centered on the imperfections of 18th century founders.

This ideological insanity obviously diverted attention from basic educational concerns. The city’s schools remained closed. The board and its allied teachers’ union seemed to be in no rush to resume regular schooling, thus allowing the city’s students to fall further behind in their studies. Parents seen with anger, which culminated in the rare recall campaign.

Even political analysts on the mainstream left viewed the vote as a wakeup call for progressives, seeing it as a chance for them to understand that, fundamentally, public schools are about educating students rather than pushing for vast cultural change. But the reactions of the losing parties suggest that they remain in their ideological slumber.

“Don’t be mistaken, white supremacists are enjoying this. And the support of the recall is aligned with this,” López tweeted after her loss. The teachers’ union continued to chide venture capitalists and billionaires, who helped fund the recall campaign. Left-wing commentators saw the vote as the result as part of a conservative political campaign — never mind that Republicans comprise less than 9% of San Francisco’s voter registrations.

The San Francisco recall proves that parents everywhere want their schools to provide quality education — and that elected officials should knock off the fringe nonsense.

The San Francisco Unified School Board has been suddenly and uncharacteristically boring ever since three recalled school board members were removed from their positions and replaced by three highly talented, competent public school moms — none of whom have higher political aspirations. Not surprisingly, the tenor of the meetings has shifted from acrimonious to professional. It is hard to imagine this new board making international headlines.

For the students of California — who have also seen a surge of parents newly engaged in their education — this is also a good thing.

Fox News had a field day with San Francisco’s overwhelmingly successful recall results, which was met here with only eye rolls. This was not a recall about punishing progressive politicians. This was a recall fueled by parents who had been vilified for wondering why every other major urban district except ours could figure out how to reopen after the Covid lockdowns were lifted. It was a recall of the loss of the word “excellence” from our district’s vocabulary. It was a recall about real, objective incompetence and school board actions that caused genuine harm to our students.

The recall would not have been successful if parents had not found one another and formed a new, unique voting block. Parents, only out of desperation, found each other in social media forums in the summer and fall of 2020, eventually forming their own groups to talk about what to do about a school board that not only wasn’t listening but was even actively harassing public school parents online. Connection and community were found through DMs and Messenger and brought into new Facebook groups, and the rest, well, became history. Parents like Siva Raj and Autumn Looijen wondered if a recall might be worth attempting, and a sea of ​​families swelled up behind them. A new understanding of “education politics” sunk in for parents. Without the pandemic, very few of us would have ever come to understand how much the school board actually impacts our children’s education, and why we should care about who is on it.

It’s hard to extrapolate anything about San Francisco to places beyond San Francisco. We are a truly special place (which shade of blue are you today?). But the true lessons must not be forgotten in our own district.

San Francisco Unified has another school board election right around the corner, yet the parent energy that achieved the recall is already waning. Our students need parents to keep paying attention, and the broader city needs to keep listening to public school families for direction on voting for the future of the school board.

The district has a unique opportunity at this moment that it must seize. Though it has been teetering on the brink of state takeover, early signs with this new board show movement towards more effective fiscal management.

Already conversations around equity and excellence going hand in hand have returned to the room. At Lowell High School, can we have a merit-based process that also incorporates into its policy mechanisms to increase diversity and sensitivity to the needs of its diverse student body? Yes, if we try, we can.

Can we focus on implementing our long-term vision for the district finally, incorporating a focus on student outcomes into all of our decision-making, rather than passing a dozen or more toothless resolutions per year? Yes, we know other districts more effectively than us do, and so we can. Can we rebuild community trust in our district and turn around this steep enrollment decline? Yes, and we must.

The parent movement that ousted the San Francisco school board members is much bigger than San Francisco. It is the key to keeping things moving forward for public school students all over California. School boards shouldn’t be political stepping stones used for higher office aspirations. Serving on a school board should be about one thing only: ensuring excellent and equitable education for its district’s students.

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF/BCN) – Sonoma County officials announced this week they are ramping up efforts to recruit foster parents and adoptive families to address a shortage of foster homes in the county.

County officials announced an expansion of a partnership with the national group RaiseAChild to recruit families willing to take in foster children, according to a news release issued Friday.

The county has entered into a $25,000 contract with RaiseACild for a year-long campaign of community events and multimedia promotions to raise awareness of the needs of local children in foster care.

Fifty to 75 local children are in temporary housing in the county, most at Valley of the Moon Children’s Center — the county’s emergency shelter for youth — according to Meg Easter-Dawson, program development manager for the county’s Department of Human Services’ Family, Youth and Children’s Division.

“We are experiencing a shortage of foster homes for the children and teens in need,” Easter-Dawson said in the statement. “Valley of the Moon Children’s Center is meant to only provide temporary housing for up to 10 days. But we have children, especially teens, who must stay much longer because we don’t have a foster home for them to go to. Not having a stable foster home just furthers their trauma and makes it harder for them to heal.”

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Bay Area has the highest rates of commercially sexually exploited youth in the United States, according to the FBI, and about 98% identified were involved with the child welfare system.

Not only that, but according to a 2017 report, data from 22 agencies serving trafficking survivors in San Francisco, housing and shelter were among the top service gaps reported for youth ages 10-17.

And in fact, researchers have found that key barriers to housing include a lack of available beds, a lack of specialized support services at shelters and short-term residential care or group homes, restrictive policies that prohibit youth from returning to shelters, a lack of adults who are willing to care for older youth, and lack of adults who have the knowledge, training, and skills to support youth who have experienced complex trauma.

So, the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women partnered with the UC Berkeley Human Rights Center, Freedom Forward, Family Builders, Huckleberry Youth Programs, and West Coast Children’s Clinic to create a family-based foster care pilot for these children.

That’s why the program, called Family and Me, or FAM, is seeking foster care parents.

In early March 2020, Sheridan Block, 30, had just finished a year abroad in Marseilles, France, as a volunteer English teacher to refugees. She flew home to Jacksonville, Florida, to spend time with her maternal grandparents—her grandfather was recovering from health issues at the time. Her plan was to stay a few months to help care for them while also saving money, paying off some student debt and credit card bills before returning abroad.

Then, the pandemic hit. “It was kind of a spiral,” says Block.

In exchange for living rent-free, she helped drive her grandparents to appointments, ran errands, cooked and did chores around the house. She ended up staying nearly two years. “I was able to save enough money to pay off all those debts that I had to finance a car and then ultimately to move out,” she explains. It was beneficial financially, she says, and good to be close to family, but it required her to adjust her ideas of what adulthood should look like.

Block is among a growing group of ‘boomerang kids’ – adult children who return to their parents or grandparents’ homes after moving out. This group of adults is on the rise – and not just because of the pandemic. In July 2020, 52% of young adults in the US resided with one or both of their parents, according to a Pew Research Center analysis – the highest percentage the United States has seen since the end of the Great Depression, in 1940. In the UK, the proportion of single, child-free 20-to-34-year-olds living with their parents went up 55% between 2008 to 2017, according to research from Loughborough University.

In Western cultures particularly, moving away from home has traditionally been considered a crucial step in becoming an independent adult. But as the number of boomerang kids continues to rise in countries such as the US, UK and Canada, this may be set to change – and with it, our notion of what the stages of adult independence look like.

An upward boom

When she moved in with her grandparents, Block noticed she was far from alone among her peers.

“I found that a lot of friends, and even some dates I went on, were kind of in the same boat,” she says. “I had met one guy [on a date] who moved from San Francisco back in with his mom in Jacksonville. That’s just a reality now, to do whatever you’ve got to do to save money.”

HomeLight, the real estate technology platform that is transforming the home buying and selling process for the top real estate agents and their clients, today released its Top Agent Insights 2021 Year-End Report, surveying over 1,000 top real estate agents on key drivers that will shape tomorrow’s living real estate market.

As the market settles into a quieter fall season – 62% of brokers report bidding wars have decreased compared to just 3% last quarter – new trends in multigenerational housing, the growing popularity of accessory housing (ADUs), and more and more young people, those who move to golf communities once known for retirees have emerged. The report paints a curious picture of how the pandemic has changed the meaning of “home” for retirees, their families and millennials after the home frenzy.

More than a third of real estate agents saw an increase in ADUs in the past year, according to HomeLight. The value of ADUs has increased nationwide by 38% since pre-COVID times, from $ 47,597 to $ 65,908.

• This trend is more pronounced in the Pacific and mountain regions, where ADUs have historically been used as an affordable housing solution and 64% and 47% of agents, respectively, have seen an increase in these units since March 2020. The value of an ADU is highest in the Pacific region, adding an average of $ 116,931 to properties.
• Surprisingly, ADUs are also gaining in importance in regions where they have not always been so popular, such as the Midwest. The ADU value rose the most in the Midwest of any region nationwide, showing an average increase of 54% compared to 38% nationwide.
• The two most common uses of an ADU in Germany are to accommodate the owner’s parents living there (a trend cited by 61% of agents) or to support adult children who need temporary accommodation for financial reasons (35%). In third place are short-term tenants (tourists or vacationers). 32% of brokers state that these guests are likely to have ADUs in their market.
• Parent living is by far the most common use. This applies to all regions, although it’s a particularly prominent trend in the southern part of the US, where 67% of agents report that local homeowners often have parents who live in their ADU.

“We’re not seeing an influx of ADUs being used for short-term rentals, but we have many buyers wanting an ADU for their aging parents,” said poll participant Aaron Kinn, a top real estate agent on the HomeLight network that serves the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex in Texas. “This has been a common concern of many of our buyers since the outbreak of the pandemic in early 2020. They assume the room will be perfect for in-laws, and if not – it would be perfect for a second office location away from the others “of the house.”

As the report shows, an increasing number of near-retirees are withdrawing with their children in an effort to increase the popularity of multi-generational homes exclusively for older adults.

• The value of a property in a golf community has increased nationwide by 48% since March 2020, from $ 16,174 to $ 24,002.
• The Northeast and Midwest saw the highest increases in value that a Gulf community location adds to a property at 57% and 55%, respectively.
• Nearly a third of agents in the Pacific and mountain regions also say that in the past year, people in their thirties and forties were more likely to adopt the country club lifestyle than they did before COVID. Around a fifth of brokers in the Midwest have also noticed this unexpected trend – and how buyer preferences in their market have changed.

“There is an increasing interest among younger people to settle near a golf course or golf community,” said survey participant Kim Batterman, a top real estate agent on the HomeLight network in Appleton, Wisconsin. “In the past few years it was mainly people in partial retirement or retirement who wanted this type of property.”

Other important findings from the HomeLight Top Agent Insights annual report 2021:

• 85% of real estate agents say they are optimistic about the state of the real estate market.
• 95% of agents nationwide report the seller’s market conditions.
• The proportion of brokers who say property prices are rising in their market fell from 95% to 53%.
• Almost 50% of agents say price cuts are now more common in their market.
• In the past year, 51% of real estate agents saw that more properties were listed in their market on platforms such as Airbnb, VRBO or Homeaway.
• The value of outdoor fireplaces has increased 72% from $ 3,337 to $ 5,753 since March 2020. The Pacific region saw by far the most dramatic increase in the value of outdoor fireplaces, from $ 4,254 to $ 9,497, a whopping 123% increase.

SACRAMENTO (KPIX) – Governor Gavin Newsom and state lawmakers expand their transition kindergarten to allow all four-year-old California children to enroll in a publicly funded school for free, regardless of income.

It’s a turning point for California, which has lagged behind other states in early childhood education.

But while seven out of ten Californians polled by the Public Policy of California this spring support state-funded preschools, not all agree on how to do it.

Joyce Gomez and her husband are thrilled that their three-year-old son Asher may have a free year of pre-kindergarten school at their neighborhood public elementary school next year.

“I’m so happy! I can’t wait,” said Gomez.

The home mom says childcare is expensive and a free year before K would allow her to get back to work and give her son the jump-start he needs.

“The human brain develops 90 percent between the ages of one and five, so it gets better for him how early he can get into a preschool program,” she said.

The California transition kindergarten – or TK – currently accepts around 100,000 children.

These children, who will turn five between September 2nd and December 2nd, are currently receiving a free year of publicly funded Pre-K.

From one year onwards, however, more children will gradually start school until all four-year-old children can attend a transitional kindergarten in public schools by September 2025.

MP Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) presented the bill to expand the transitional kindergarten.

“This will really help the students. It’s a big win for California, ”said McCarty.

However, critics say universal TC would cripple an already fragile childcare industry and hurt families they serve.

BAHIA Inc. provides childcare for children ages two to ten in Berkeley.

Managing director Beatriz Leyva-Cutler only heard of the state’s plans to expand the transition kindergarten last year.

“It was like a cold bucket of ice on our face,” said Leyva-Cutler. “We had to do with COVID and then found out about this transition kindergarten.”

She fears that four-year-old children will leave their bilingual child development program for a free transition kindergarten that does not offer the same high quality education.

That would force them to switch to caring for children ages three and under, a more expensive business model that requires different education and more individualized care.

“Panning is not as easy as the authors of this bill seem to think,” said Leyva-Cutler. “You know, you just can’t say ‘OK’, you’re a preschool teacher, now a toddler teacher or an infant toddler teacher.

The results could decimate licensed childcare workers who are unlikely to survive the pandemic.

“Many programs have already told us that they must be closed. You have to close. You will have to cut working hours, your staff, ”said Laurie Fürstenfeld from the Child Care Law Center.

Lizz Nolasco says this could put her family in a bind, and not just for her as the preschool director.

If her little son registers in the TK in a few years, the working mother may have to take him from place to place because the transition kindergarten only lasts a few hours and there are still no concrete plans for all-day offers.

“So we would have to start looking for these pre- and post-care options. In the worst case, I might not have a job, ”said Nolasco.

Others worry about additional support for students.

Head Start Executive Director Christopher Maricle says he is working to ensure families can keep the health services they depend on.

“We have a hundred thousand children in Head Start. We just want to make sure in the end that the parents are getting what they need and some of them will need it, ”said Maricle.

The Early Edge education initiative supports the expansion of the transition kindergarten.

According to Executive Director Patricia Lozano, this means around 225,000 more students will have an extra year of schooling at a crucial time for learning.

“All in all, it’s an amazing budget. A historic household. How can we implement this now and help with the implementation? ”Said Lozano.

McCarty says expanding the transitional kindergarten is a huge undertaking and there are still many details to be clarified.

Every fourth public school already has a transitional kindergarten. The state plans to spend billions of dollars to provide elementary schools with portable rooms or to retrofit classrooms that are empty due to falling school enrollments.

Despite a labor shortage, teachers would be reassigned or hired and trained.

Reimbursement rates and support will increase for subsidized childcare serving children under the age of three.

“We think it’s an absolute win-win situation. But the reality is that change is difficult. It disrupts the way things are today, ”said McCarty.

California plans to have the country’s largest universal transition kindergarten in the next five years, but it is clear that transitioning in or out of the classroom will not be easy.

The slowly improving coronavirus situation is causing some school districts to return to classroom teaching. This will begin on September 29th for some special needs students in the Issaquah School District and all elementary school students a few weeks later.

Many parents in the Issaquah School District are afraid of sending their children back into the classroom. Some say they won’t be doing that anytime soon. Their concerns range from safety to the quality of education.

The district’s goal is to provide some form of personal learning for kindergarten children and first graders. 15th October. Older elementary school students will follow.

“I’m definitely not sending my child back to school right now. No way, ”said Lindeman. “It feels like our youngest are being used as guinea pigs,” he said.

In a memo to parents, the school district said classroom return was based on a Washington State Department of Health’s “decision tree” that said districts in the moderate category of 25-75 cases per 100,000 people over 14 days did so “Consider extending face-to-face learning to elementary school students.”

However, major concerns for parents include the transmission of COVID between students and teachers, and how schools can ensure that young students stay within two meters of their clothing when wearing PPE.

They also fear that their children have just gotten used to distance learning and will now have to adapt to a hybrid model, possibly with a different teacher.

There is another concern about how safe classrooms are given the aging HVAC systems in some schools. The CDC has recommended adequate ventilation and air circulation to reduce the risks of COVID transmission.

“Knowing that most of these buildings don’t have HEPA filtration, there’s no modern filtration, that’s absolutely part of the concern,” Lindeman said. He also shared his concerns on a private Facebook group for Issaquah parents.

Maple Hills Elementary should get a full HVAC replacement this summer. But COVID delayed construction progress and these replacement plans to 2021.

An email KIRO7 received from the district finance and operations manager to a parent partially said:

“The current system and the systems around the district ensure sufficient airflow (according to HVAC experts).”

For some parents this is not enough.

“Which experts? Give me the experts. Give me the people – I want to see the people we should start from, ”Lindeman said.

Indoor air quality expert and CEO of Senseware – a company that makes air surveillance technology – says schools across the country have poor HVAC systems.

“In fact, the Government Accountability Office released a report in June that said more than half of the country’s schools are in need of major modernizations, with HVAC specifically named to top the list,” said Serene Al-Momen, Ph.D., CEO of Senseware.

The Washington, DC-based company says it is now starting to work with school districts to figure out how a building might need customization.

“A lot of schools don’t know that part of the stimulus package is funding to upgrade this infrastructure. So there is ESER funding that is available specifically for schools, ”Al-Momen said.

Parents say tech companies could be part of the answer to getting kids back into the classroom safely, but that time has not come.

“We have three weeks in the school year and will drop out because there is a slight improvement? I’m saying we’re getting a real improvement and maybe we can do this again after the winter break when things have really calmed down, ”said Lindeman.

In time for this story, the Issaquah School District did not provide anyone to attend to the parents’ concerns.

Dear Mr. Dolan: I am a mother living in San Francisco and I have two children. My son is in seventh grade and my daughter is in high school. Both my husband and I work full time and my husband has to go to his office. My employer has allowed employees to work remotely since the pandemic began. While I appreciate the hard work teachers put into their classes during this pandemic, my two children fall behind and have emotional issues when confined to tiny homes. My son had an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) early on, which then became a 504. (A 504 plan provides services and changes to learning environments to enable disabled students to study with their peers.) My son left the 504. but now his problems have returned and are worse. I am exhausted trying to work, help my children, learn, and keep my sanity. I read recently that we’re going back to full-time teaching in California soon, but I’m not getting a clear picture of our school district. The potential return makes me both excited and nervous. I touch, but I think my question is, what are our rights as parents in our children’s education?

Dear Sunny: I am so sorry to hear that your children are having problems. The 2020-21 school year was a challenging time for parents and working parents. Your question is simple, but quite complicated. We tried to reconcile a pandemic and our children’s education. California has been a hotbed of COVID infection and has endured full home stay orders and modified home stay orders, which often vary between counties. Both private and public schools have applied for a waiver to reopen under state guidelines from the California Department of Health. While exemptions have been granted to private schools, the public school system seems to take longer to receive exemptions, and these students have primarily been out of the way for a year. Workers in our school systems and their unions also need to investigate the fact that educators have not been placed in the first tier of vaccinations. Many classrooms did not meet removal guidelines and schools had no plan for tracking / containing outbreaks. It became impossible to get a student through the different periods of a day without exposing each one several times a day.

The California Constitution has guaranteed children free elementary and secondary education since 1879 under Article IX, Section 5. The article states: “The legislature provides a typical school system according to which a free school is maintained and supported in each district for at least six months in every year after the first year a school was established. “Therefore, your children are eligible for free education that includes computers and materials that must be made available to them under Section 43503 of the California Education Code. But how can you provide adequate training during a global pandemic?

Distance learning, according to State Education Act 43500, means teaching where students and instructors are in different locations and students are under the general supervision of a certified employee of the education agency. Because of the outbreak, schools were forced to move away completely and then try a hybrid approach to special education at times.

Parents are struggling with online courses over time. I’ve heard parents complain that the courses for complicated subjects like math and chemistry were either too much or not adequately supported and understood. Unfortunately, just as the term “distance learning” is new in the Education Code, the mix of distance learning, hybrid learning, and face-to-face teaching is something that we didn’t have an overview of prior to this pandemic. Due to health concerns with COVID, face-to-face tuition was limited as state guidelines could not be followed in most middle and high schools. Primary schools had more freedom as the curriculum was based mainly on a single classroom assignment. Many elementary schools have now opened or are about to open, with districts considering what to do with middle and high school students.

The Code of Education offers free education; However, it does not dictate how a school district manages a program (whether remotely, hybrid, or in person). In-person tuition becomes even more complicated during a pandemic when IEPs and 504 plans are in place. These students require in-person tuition, sometimes with additional accommodation, and often cannot proceed with full online tuition.

Unfortunately, besides free classes, there are very few guides on how to mandate personal education instead of distance learning. We must adhere to the state’s opening guidelines and the recommendations of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and try to do the best we can to balance the emotional and physical health of our children with the value of being in a classroom be. I hope that life will be brought back to life shortly, albeit in another.

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) – A group of parents in the San Francisco Unified School District frustrated with schools being closed for face-to-face learning proposed on Monday that elections for the education committee officers be abolished and instead switched to a date-based system to switch.

Better San Francisco Public Schools group is campaigning for a constitutional amendment to vote in June 2022 to allow city leaders to elect school inspectors instead of voters.

“We believe this will lead to better accountability so that the Board of Education is made up of the right people with the right priorities,” said Patrick Wolff, parent of SFUSD and chairman of Better San Francisco Public Schools. “The city only elected the majority of this board a few months ago. Obviously, there is something wrong with the selection of the people who run our public schools. “

Although district leaders have emphasized that reopening schools depends on several factors, including agreeing health and safety standards with unions and making sure schools have adequate ventilation systems, parents and city leaders remain frustrated with those a year ago closings introduced when the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The board received more criticism in January when it decided to rename 44 schools by April. Mayor Breed called for more urgency to reopen schools. To complicate matters, the city filed a lawsuit last month to further compel the district and school authorities to prioritize the return of face-to-face learning.

“I am seriously concerned about the Board of Education and its focus on the wrong priorities. Failure to prioritize members on top issues has catastrophic public education for our students and families, ”said Jennifer Kuhr Butterfoss, co-chair of Better San Francisco Public Schools, an SFUSD mother and former SFUSD principal. “My children’s friends, neighbors, and classmates go out in droves. The disastrous effects of this current board will be felt by the generations to come. “

The city first switched to an election-based system for school boards in 1971, sparked by opposition to desegregation after previously using an appointment-based system for more than 70 years.

Quoting other large U.S. cities that already have a date-based system like New York, Washington, DC and Chicago, Wolff said this makes most sense for large, diverse areas where voters are more likely to be poorly informed are in order to make a selection the most qualified candidates.

“Big cities are often really the only ones interested in this appointment-based system, and from what we’ve seen, it works well for them,” he said.

In the coming months, Better San Francisco Public Schools plan to meet with more parents and residents to grow the campaign and start a petition to put the initiative on the ballot in June 2022.

The group’s announcement comes just days after the school principals announced that some elementary school students from 66 schools will be able to return to face-to-face learning in the first phase of school opening on April 12th.

As part of the plan, more school locations would gradually reopen in the following weeks. A total of 91 school locations are to be reopened by the end of April.

During a briefing Monday, SFUSD Superintendent Vincent Matthews said, “We know this has been a difficult time for families and we are excited about the ability to move forward and we continue to do everything as a district to serve as many students as possible Bringing back personal learning as best we can, but at the same time we want you to understand the limitations that are there. “
