With long-term sustainability a key concern for society, all industries need to recognize the role they play in contributing to a responsible and sustainable future and find ways to address the challenges they face.

The Plumbing Life Saver

SYDNEY, June 10, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Late last year, Master Plumbers’ Association Queensland (MPAQ) and Plastics Industry Pipe Association of Australia (PIPA) joined forces with Iplex, Reece, Tradelink and Vinidex to launch the Construction Plastics Recycling Scheme in Queensland, with funding support from the Queensland Government. According to the leading plumber Port Stephens wide, The Plumbing Life Saver, the scheme highlights the need to educate and change behaviors across the industry.

The scheme was developed to help industry understand the volume of available PVC off-cuts and fittings from construction sites. With most plastic pipes installed throughout Australia being 100% recyclable, waste such as off-cuts should be captured and diverted from landfill. The Plastics Industry Pipe Association of Australia says PVC pipes can be recycled six to seven times without significant reduction in pipe material quality requirements.

Collection sites set up as part of the scheme have made it easier for the construction industry to divert their PVC off-cuts from landfill to be recycled. With clear benefits to the scheme, The Plumbing Life Saver hopes similar programs can eventually be introduced throughout Australia.

By shifting to a circular economy model where resources are reclaimed and recycled in an endless loop, the construction industry can move away from its current wasteful linear economy. While there is a widespread perception that virgin materials are better than recycled in the industry, The Plumbing Life Saver believes it comes down to education and availability.

Initiatives such as the Construction Plastics Recycling Scheme can help the industry make meaningful steps towards becoming more sustainable, says The Plumbing Life Saver, who hopes to see the construction industry become more green, sustainable and committed to creating a circular economy.

Claude Jackson Jr., a citizen of the Gila River Indian Community, is an attorney by day, the director of the tribe’s public defender’s office.

But by night he is a playwright. And in late January, one of his works, “Cashed Out,” will have its world premiere at the San Francisco Playhouse. It’s a story about addiction, a subject Jackson says he was compelled to write about.

Jackson has always enjoyed theater and film but wasn’t sure he would find a place in that world. The path to the premiere was long and filled with unexpected turns and Jackson says he made it with the help and encouragement of his younger brother, Roberto Jackson.

Set in Jackson’s Gila River tribal community, “Cashed Out” revolves around the character “Rocky,” to be played in San Francisco by Rainbow Dickerson, and Rocky’s family. Rocky is the daughter of a well-known basketmaker and if she wanted it, could make her own name in basketmaking. Instead, she goes another route and becomes an accountant, all while battling a gambling addiction.

“It’s a tragedy,” said Jackson, who said he was influenced by Arthur Miller and William Shakespeare. “It’s about a person who is addicted to gambling and how the family members are dealing with it. Now we don’t have that type of scourge, that our community members are addicted to gambling, but I did want to touch on addiction in some way.”

An online reading leads to more interest

The play had originally come from a shorter piece he wrote in 2019, which won the Von Marie Atchley Excellence in Playwriting Award for Native Voices at the Autry.

Native Voices at the Autry is devoted to developing and producing new works for the stage by Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and First Nations playwrights. It is a popular program of the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles, and it holds a short play contest annually, with a new theme each year. The year Jackson submitted “Cashed Out,” the theme was gaming.

After Jackson won, the theater troupe at the museum performed the play and it turned out that one of the audience members was from the San Francisco Playhouse. That person reached out to Jackson and asked if the theater could stage a zoom reading of the play with actors.

Megan Mendoza/The Republic

“This was during the pandemic and at the time a lot of playhouses were doing Zoom performances,” Jackson said. “They were trying to keep the theater scene afloat. They asked to do my play. The director at the time said it should be a long-form play.”

After the performance, Jackson sent an email thanking everyone and said in jest that he would be working on a longer form of the play. This caught the attention of Bill English, the co-founder of and artistic director of the San Francisco Playhouse, who immediately responded and said if Jackson was serious about doing a longer play of “Cashed Out,” the Playhouse would commission it.

“They liked my writing style,” Jackson said. He said it took a few drafts for them to get it to where they wanted.

Love of movies influences writing

Jackson has always loved movies. Growing up, he recalls taking his younger brother, Roberto Jackson, to the movies with him. Roberto, a writer, told Claude about the playwright competition, and both submitted original plays that they’d worked on individually.

The earlier years of going to movies also left an impression on Roberto, and both brothers have worked on movie projects together. One movie they wrote together is called “In Circles,” which Roberto directed in 2015.

“It won some awards,” Claude said. “It was featured in two well-known Native American film festivals. Even if it didn’t cost a lot of money to make, it took a long time because we had to do it on weekends, and it took over two years to film.”

As brothers, they are constantly bouncing ideas off of one another, and Claude said this kind of supportive and creative relationship is helpful when it comes to their artistic craft.

Roberto has no hard feelings that his brother’s play had won and said it was a proud moment for him and the rest of Claude’s family. He said it’s hard to put into words how talented a writer his brother is and how his talent is reflected through his art.

“Watching him develop over the years and working with the Autry, it’s a great opportunity for me again to be exposed to the theater in that way,” Roberto said. “As brothers knowing what addiction meant to some of our relatives and even in our own lives, and to see it used as a way to comment on society, it’s powerful stuff.”

Theater for Indigenous actors, playwrights and directors isn’t anything new but it’s not as well known as the Indigenous movie and television scene, which has become increasingly popular in recent years. Claude said in a span of about seven years of playwriting, he has met Indigenous theater actors and playwrights like the well-known Larissa FastHorse, whose play, “The Thanksgiving Play,” is one of the top 10 most produced plays in America this season . Claude had actually worked in one of her plays.

“It’s something where I just fell into this circle, into this community,” Claude said. “I didn’t know how vast it was.”

The director for “Cashed Out” is Tara Moses, a citizen of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and an award-winning playwright. Moses has been doing theater since she was 8, as an actor in local productions. She attended the University of Tulsa as a musical theater performance major and, while there, she quickly learned how unwelcoming the theater was for Native people.

“I was seldom cast because there were not opportunities made for me,” Moses said. “I quickly transitioned into directing because as a director, I had the most power in the room to create opportunities for other Native artists.”

Moses described “Cashed Out” as a powerful play with a lot of heart. The root of the play, a woman’s gambling addiction, is the connection all of the characters have with each other, she said.

Claude holds a copy of a play he wrote, which will premiere in January 2023 at the San Francisco Playhouse.
Megan Mendoza/The Republic

“For Native people, we intimately understand how addiction manifests in our communities, and Claude did not shy away from the heartbreaking realities of it,” Moses said. “In the play, multiple characters suffer from drug addiction, gambling addiction and alcoholism, and not all of the characters overcome them. What I love so much about his play, and why I think it’s so important that it’s happening, is that throughout all the challenges, the family continue to pass down tradition and find ways to remain grounded and connected to who they are as Native people.”

Moses also noted “Cashed Out” is the first Native play the San Francisco Playhouse has produced, allowing for the first time their audiences to experience Native theater.

“The play involves so much traditional storytelling with nonlinear timelines and the presence of spirits, and also showcases us in a contemporary setting,” she said. “Many audiences only ever (if they ever do) experience Native characters living in the distant past, so this opportunity to see a real, nuanced, and complex story about real Native people living in 2023 will impact San Francisco in extremely meaningful ways.”

Growing up, Moses said she didn’t know other Native artists existed in the theater until she was 21. She is thankful that Native youth are living in a time where there is so much work being created by Native artists both on stage and on screen .

“Claude’s powerful play is one of the many being written, produced, and shared, and every single day I am thankful that there are more and more opportunities for Natives to see ourselves onstage,” she said. “Theater didn’t begin with the Greeks like we’re taught. Theater began with us, Indigenous peoples, telling stories for thousands and thousands of years before Greece even existed, so every Native storyteller has a place in the theater if they so want it.”

‘The theater nerd I always wanted to be’

During his time at Arizona State University, where he attended undergrad and law school, Claude said he was given a final assignment in his Native American literature class and he decided to write his first play. He received a B for that play and now, more than 20 years later, one of his works, “Olivia,” is set to be performed at ASU’s Theater Lab next fall.

But it didn’t happen overnight for Claude, even though he enjoyed movies and wanted to be a performer. He was set to perform in his first play his senior year of high school, but before that could happen he was kicked out of school. When he began attending ASU, he said he had no idea that being in theater was even an option for him.

“I remember watching the improv group there,” Claude said. “I watched them every Friday, I remember I was going to sign up and audition, but I chickened out. I never took that chance.”

Hiccups in life, such as trying to kick his drug and alcohol habit, had interfered with him getting involved with theater and exploring his artistic talent to its full potential. It made it easy for him to talk himself out of even giving it a shot. When stopped using drugs, he got involved with theater and even took acting classes at the local community college.

“When I started to be in these plays I loved it,” Claude said. “I loved the process. I loved the rehearsal. I was the theater nerd that I always wanted to be.”

The San Francisco Playhouse is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization and was established in 2003. It is the Bay Area’s premiere mid-sized theater company, staging six plays and musicals a year at its 199-seat mainstage venue on Post Street, as well as three world premieres per year at intimate stages in downtown San Francisco.

Claude is excited about the San Francisco premier, but he is hoping to bring “Cashed Out” to Arizona.

“Hopefully the play does well in San Francisco and someone will take a chance and bring the play to Arizona,” said Claude. “I’m hoping I can bring it to Arizona. It’s a great story and I want to show it off to not only my community, but to the other O’odham communities, and to other tribes.”

“Cashed Out” premieres Jan. 26 and will be performed until Feb. 25, 2023.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the Earthquakes II match against Real Monarchs on Friday, Sept. 9, originally scheduled to be played at PayPal Park, will now take place at Negoesco Stadium on the campus of the University of San Francisco. The match, which kicks off at 6 pm, will be hosted in partnership with San Francisco Glens Soccer Club and livestreamed on MLSNEXTPro.com.

Earthquakes Season Ticket Holders can contact their account service representative for $10 tickets to the match.

Quakes II, the Earthquakes’ second team, competes in MLS NEXT Pro. The league is in its inaugural season and has 21 teams, 20 of which are affiliated with teams in Major League Soccer. Rosters are comprised of professional players on first team (MLS) or MLS NEXT Pro contracts, and amateur youth academy players (MLS NEXT).

“We’re really excited to be hosting a Quakes II match for our fans in San Francisco,” said Earthquakes General Manager Chris Leitch. “This event is a testament to our partnership with the San Francisco Glens and our roster proudly features former Glens players.”

Earthquakes II is currently in fifth place in the 11-team Western Conference, just six points outside of the top-four playoff positions. Quakes II has three matches remaining during the 2022 regular season, and the Sept. 9 contest in San Francisco will serve as the team’s final home match and penultimate match overall.

“We’re looking forward to host Quakes II in San Francisco as our clubs continue to grow our ongoing partnership,” said SF Glens Executive Director Mike McNeill. “To be able to bring pro soccer back to San Francisco for one night in conjunction with USF will be a special event that the local soccer community won’t want to miss.”

“I’m thrilled to see the Earthquakes return to San Francisco after all these years,” said Glens Technical Director Jimmy Conrad, who was on the last Earthquakes team to play at Negoesco in 2001 for the US Open Cup quarterfinals. “It’s going to be an incredible opportunity for the fans here in The City to connect to the club and, my favorite part, it’s going to allow us to see some future first-team stars play right in our backyard.”

SANTA CLARA, Calif .– It is still unclear whether Jimmy Garoppolo, quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, will survive his right thumb injury against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

But if he has his way, Garoppolo will be in his usual starting spot in a game the 8-7 Niners must have to reach an NFC playoff spot. He said on Wednesday that he “definitely” had a chance to play against the Texans.

“I’ve basically played the entire game with it so it’s really just about grabbing the ball and doing the things I normally do and we’re going to test these out today, see how it feels and then move on.” said Garoppolo said. “But I am convinced of it.”

The 49ers can secure a postseason spot with a win against the Texans and a loss for the New Orleans Saints to the Carolina Panthers.

Before training on Wednesday, Garoppolo threw under the supervision of the team’s training staff. But Garoppolo was seen leaving the field before training began and was officially listed as a non-entrant on the attendance report.

Garoppolo also did not attend the team’s Monday “bonus” training session as he waited for the swelling of his thumb to subside. On Wednesday he threw for the first time since the Niners’ 20-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans last week.

“We’ll see how it looks today,” said Garoppolo on Wednesday. “If it looks good, it looks good. If it looks bad, it looks bad. It’s just one of those things to test and go through. Until we do, it’ll be hard to tell. But we will all be on the same page and do the right thing for the team. “

While there was some confusion about the severity of Garoppolo’s injury, coach Kyle Shanahan provided more clarity on Wednesday. According to Shanahan, Garoppolo has a grade 3 ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his right thumb, adding that reports of a fracture have been due to the sprain “peeling off” a small patch of his bone.

But Shanahan said Garoppolo didn’t need surgery and insisted it was the sprain that challenged Garoppolo’s status for Sunday.

“Anytime there’s a bone that has something on it, you can call it a fracture, you can call it a chip, you can call it something, but that really doesn’t stop it,” Shanahan said. “It’s the third degree sprain he has. But because it doesn’t move and stuff, he doesn’t need surgery and he has a chance to play this week.”

Rookie Trey Lance took over all repetitions with the starting offensive on Monday and did this again on Wednesday with Garoppolo.

If Lance gets the nod, it would only be his second NFL start after standing up for Garoppolo against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct.10. As of 2017, the Niners are 30-14 in his starts and 7-28 in games started by all the other quarterbacks.

For his part, Garoppolo said whether he plays depends on how he can grab and throw the ball. Suffering the injury late in the second quarter of the Titans loss, he ended the game despite throwing a poor interception to open the third quarter.

Garoppolo added that he had tweaked his throwing movement as the game progressed to compensate for the injury, although he downplayed its severity on the sideline and did not bring it to the media after the loss.

“It’s a torn ligament, so it is what it is,” said Garoppolo. “The pain, it’s not going anywhere so I know how that feels but it’s just about being confident and going out and being able to do what I normally do with football. We will see where it takes us, but I feel good. ” now with it. “

With Garoppolo battling the thumb injury and players across the league being on the reserve / COVID-19 list, the Niners are also taking additional steps to protect all of their players, including the quarterbacks.

San Francisco signed quarterback Tyler Bray to the training team on Wednesday, where he joins veteran Nate Sudfeld behind Garoppolo and Lance.

Shanahan said the team also switched all meetings to virtual on Wednesday, two days after the player added Mitch Wishnowsky as the team’s first player on the COVID list since August.

“We’ve been pretty lucky so far to only have one man on the ground,” said Shanahan. “But just watching the world and watching everyone, knowing that it’s a matter of time, looks like this, so let’s just try to be careful and keep everyone separate until we go outside.”

By Neal E. Boudette

NYTimes news service

Not long after buying a Tesla Model 3 that summer, Vince Patton saw a YouTube clip highlighting a feature that surprised him: three video games that can be played on the large touchscreen in front of the dash – while driving down the street .

“I thought this couldn’t be right,” said Patton, a retiree in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

But he tried it in a parking lot and was able to play a solitaire game on the Model 3 while driving. “I only did it for about five seconds and then turned it off,” he said. “I’m amazed. It just seems inherently dangerous to me.”

The automaker added the games in an over-the-air software update sent to most of its cars this summer. They can be played by a driver or a passenger in full sight of the driver, raising new questions as to whether Tesla compromises safety as it quickly adds new technology and features to its cars.

“It’s a big problem, of course, when it comes to driver concerns,” said Jonathan Adkins, executive director of the Governors Highway Safety Association, which coordinates government efforts to promote safe driving.

Tesla’s autopilot system, which can independently steer, slow down and accelerate a car, has been criticized by safety experts for several years because it allows drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel for long periods of time, even though this is not intended. And there is no effective means of ensuring that the driver can keep an eye on the road.

The combination of hands-free driving and drivers looking away from the road has been linked to at least 12 deaths in Tesla cars that were operated in autopilot mode since 2016, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Adkins said the inclusion of video games “calls for the NHTSA to provide some guidance and regulations”.

Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk, did not respond to several emails asking about the new video games and whether they might pose a threat to security.

Distracted driving is a major contributor to the rising number of road deaths in the United States. According to estimates by the Ministry of Transport, 20,160 people died in road accidents in the first six months of this year. That was 18.4% more than in the first half of 2020 and the highest value since 2006.

Driver inattentiveness is officially cited as the cause of about 10% of road deaths, said Steve Kiefer, an executive at General Motors who also runs a foundation dedicated to combating distracted driving. However, he and other safety experts believe the actual number is much higher, as crash investigations often overlook the distraction and identify other causes such as reckless driving.

“I think the number is closer to 50%,” said Kiefer.

The Kiefer Foundation is dedicated to his son Mitchel, who was killed in 2016 at the age of 18 when a distracted driver broke into his car on a Michigan freeway.

Distracted driving arises from activities in which the driver takes his hands off the steering wheel, averts his gaze from the road or distracts his attention from the driving task. It’s often associated with smartphone use, such as texting or emailing behind the wheel, but drivers sometimes read books or put on make-up. Some states prohibit the use of cell phones while driving. Automakers, Apple, and Google have developed in-car software that makes it easier to use voice commands to send text messages and make calls, so you can keep your hands free on the go.

Automakers have also added mechanisms to reduce potential windscreen distractions. Stellantis – formerly Fiat Chrysler – offers an entertainment system that can play DVDs on a front screen, but it gets dark when the car is pushed out of parking position. Many navigation systems do not allow manual entry of addresses while driving. Mazda vehicles prohibit most use of the dashboard screen while driving.

GM’s Super Cruise system, which can steer, brake and allow the driver to take their hands off the steering wheel, has an infrared camera to track the driver’s eyes. If they deviate from the road, Super Cruise issues a warning or switches off and returns control to the driver.

“We believe that these functions can be implemented quite safely with driver and eye monitoring,” said Kiefer, who heads GM’s international activities.

Some Tesla cars have simpler cameras that look at a driver’s face, but the cameras see less in the dark and don’t track the eyes precisely. Four years ago, after investigating a fatal autopilot crash, the National Transportation Safety Board recommended Tesla add an infrared camera to improve driver monitoring, but the company didn’t do it.

“It’s incredibly frustrating,” said Jennifer Homendy, chair of the security committee. “We’re trying to warn the public and tell Tesla, ‘Hey, you need to take some safety precautions.’ But they don’t have that. “

The Safety Committee investigates traffic accidents and can recommend measures to improve safety, but has no power to force companies to take action. NHTSA fulfills this role.

The NHTSA has issued guidelines advising automakers that all in-vehicle entertainment devices should be designed so that the driver cannot use them “to perform inherently distracting side-effects while driving”.

Until that summer, video games in Tesla’s software package – there were more than a dozen – could only be played while a car was parked. That changed when the update was carried over to Tesla vehicles on 12/25/2021. It added solitaire; a jet fighter game, Sky Force Reloaded; and The Battle of Polytopia: Moonrise, a conquest strategy game. Patton said he had access to all three from his moving car and that he had filed a complaint with the NHTSA through their website.

In a warning that appears before the game starts, Tesla signals its knowledge that Solitaire can be played while driving: “Solitaire is a game for everyone, but playing while driving is only for passengers.” A button asks for confirmation, that the player is a passenger, but a driver can play by simply touching him.

In a second YouTube video, another Tesla owner also shows how the game can be played while driving. “It’s pretty dangerous,” says the owner in the video. “I’m sure someone will use autopilot and then play solitaire while on autopilot. Note that, Tesla. “

Ben Partridge traveled far from home to play golf at Hutchinson Community College.

A native of London, England, Partridge was recruited by the Blue Dragons head coach Chris Young and decided to join the Hutchinson men’s golf team. Since then, he has outdone himself a lot and led the team to a national NJCAA championship.

Partridge was also the NJCAA Individual Champion and decided to sign and sign a letter of intent to play golf at the University of San Francisco.

Partridge was named a Jack Nicklaus Award winner for the spring golf season and also received many awards for being the first team in the junior college world. Now he’s excited to take the next step in his golf career and join the West Coast program.

Related:Hutchinson Community College golfer Ben Partridge becomes NJCAA Div. I Jack Nicklaus Prize Winner

“I got on really well with the guys on the team and also with the coach,” said Partridge. “I can imagine that I get more benefit from San Francisco than the other schools I’ve spoken to. So I’m looking forward to it.”

San Francisco is the nation’s 29th golf program in the NCAA Div. I national rankings. The university also ranks 14th in the nation for enrolling international students, according to the US News and World Report.

Young said he and his program were fortunate to have players getting through Hutchinson and switching to NCAA programs, like Charlie Crockett, who went to the University of Missouri and Lake Leroux in Wichita State and Eastern Kentucky.

“Hopefully we can take this in the right direction,” said Young. “We have seven kids in the top 90 (national ranking). I don’t think we’ve ever done that before.”

More from Hutchinson CC:Hutchinson Blue Dragons drive past Garden City to win the first Jayhawk playoff title in 26 years

Partridge was attending TCU, UTEP, and San Francisco when deciding which college to go to, so choosing San Francisco for more than just golf.

“When I got there, it reminded me a lot of home, a lot of London,” said Partridge. “I’m really looking forward to spending time in my home country. This business administration course, this business administration course, is unbelievable, and the academic side, I think, is important for me after golf. After golf, it is business administration, and of course having a good degree is an advantage . “

The NJCAA defending champion signed up and had his signing day on Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Sports Arena in Hutchinson."/>

More:A late scoop-and-score sends Little River into the second 8-man div. I’m listing title game

Unlike his last engagement (later to Hutch), Partridge took his time with the process. In early September, Partridge said he visited San Francisco and had plenty of time between that Monday and last Monday to consider and weigh up his options before ultimately settling on the West Coast school.

With the confidence to take the next level, Partridge believes this will help him do better at tournaments this coming spring for the golf season. He said the spring tournaments would help him land on the right foot and defend his national title as well.

The ambition and goal is to go pro, Partridge said. That’s another reason he chose San Francisco because it will give him a chance to potentially get a foot in the door of the PGA Tour. ”

Partridge attended Hutchinson Community College in 2019 and signed his letter of intent to attend college. His first golf season had to wait due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the wait has been worth it after such a dominant spring season.

More:Bühler fails in the state title game, loses in the under-state championship against Andover Central

“My second year really went by in a flash,” said Partridge. “I didn’t think it would go away so quickly. We are almost at the end of the fall semester. Another semester here. I’ve put a lot of work into it and I’m looking forward to it. “

SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 conference set the schedule for their final football weekend.

The conference announced on Sunday that its teams will play six games, including Washington ranked 16th in Southern California in Friday’s Pac-12 championship game.

Oregon will face number 21 Colorado on Saturday at the Memorial Coliseum in Southern California. The winner of this game could slip into a postponed title game if the Trojans or Huskies are unable to play due to COVID-19 issues.

Saturday’s games also include Washington State in Utah, Stanford at UCLA and Arizona State in Oregon State. Arizona will meet California at a time and place to be determined. The Wildcats sacked coach Kevin Sumlin on Saturday after losing to the state of Arizona.

The Pac-12 left the schedule open for the last weekend of the season to have flexibility in a year when the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in cancellations and postponements across the country.

USC secured a spot in the Pac-12 title game for the first time since 2017 by beating rivals UCLA 43-38 on Saturday.

Washington won its third Pac-12 North title in five years with a 38-21 win over Colorado.

The conference went to a home-hosted model for that season’s championship game.

Further coverage of the cancellation of the Cal game on Saturday and the opponent from Saturday this week in the Daily News in print and online.

NEW YORK – Buster Posey was out of line-up for the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday against New York Metsone Night after quitting a game with a problem in his left knee while Brandon Crawford was asked to play shortstop after a lower back tightness.

Manager Gabe Kapler said both players were encouraged by how they felt in the park on Wednesday.

Posey, 34, was drawn during an 8-0 win over the Mets in the fifth inning Tuesday night after umpire Greg Gibson told Kapler that Posey was out.

Kapler said the seven-time all-star was moving well on Wednesday and planned to test his knee in a catcher squat during punch training. Curt Casali should start one way or the other with the catcher.

“It’s just good news at the moment,” said Kapler. “But obviously these things take turns and turns, so let’s keep an eye on it.”

Posey had a resurgent year after skipping the 2020 season curtailed by the coronavirus when he and his wife adopted premature twin girls. The 2012 National League MVP single and scored in the fourth inning on Tuesday to increase his batting average to .314 with 39 RBIs and a .925 OPS.

Crawford, 34, was scheduled to finish fifth every day after being lifted in the seventh inning. Kapler said Crawford felt some tightness ahead of Tuesday’s game, and with San Francisco blowing New York out, the club got him going.

Crawford hits .300 with 19 homers, 71 RBIs, and a .898 OPS, earning his first all-star nick since 2018.

“We want to face any tightness,” said Kapler, adding that the team has a duty to calm veterans Crawford, Posey, Evan Longoria and Brandon Belt when problems arise.

Belt was back on the line up after his grandmother died Tuesday morning. Belt homered twice on Tuesday and dedicated the hits to his grandmother. Kapler said the funeral was scheduled for Friday and Belt would leave the team to attend.

Right-hander Johnny Cueto was activated by the injured list before the game and is about to start his 20th game. The 35-year-old has been sidelined with a right flexion since August 9th.
