Noah Basketball has installed a new 120-foot-long videoboard inside the Toronto Raptors’ practice facility to display real-time advanced shot metrics as well as game or practice footage during the team’s training sessions. Noah’s shot-tracking system leverages computer vision cameras mounted above rims to measure each shot’s arc, depth, and left-right positioning, as well as heat maps and tracking makes and misses.

The Raptors first installed Noah at its OVO Athletic Center training facility in 2018. Coaches and players typically viewed the shot analytics on iPads or computers, but that process is now easier with the real-time data being shown during practices on the massive wall-hung videoboard, which can also stream footage from practices and games. Noah uses facial recognition to identify each player and keep track of their individual shooting performances, while it is also providing automated voice feedback on shots inside the Raptors’ facility.

“My original thought was that we could have a Jumbotron courtside so that we could be doing things in practice and want to teach immediately,” Raptors coach Nick Nurse told The Canadian Press. “If they missed [a shot], they can see why. If it was too far to the left, if it was too long, it was too short, [the] arc was too flat, whatever.”

Nurse joined the board of directors at Noah Basketball in 2021. The company’s shot-tracking system is used by more than a dozen NBA teams, including the Clippers, Knicks, Trail Blazers, Suns and Warriors, as well as hundreds of college basketball programs. Ice Cube’s Big3 basketball league also partnered with Noah earlier this year.

“We use Noah everyday,” Clippers guard Terance Mann told SportTechie in August. “Once you walk in the cameras recognize your face. It tracks all your shots, your makes your arc, how accurate your shot is left to right. So I love Noah and I like the feedback it gives. It gives you the day, it gives you the week, it gives you the month, it gives you the year, so it’s pretty cool to see.

Zane Meeks is moving west a few hours to reach his next college destination.

The former wolf pack striker, who posted his name on the NCAA transfer portal last month, has gotten involved with the University of San Francisco. The 6-foot-9,215-pound product from Prairie Village, Kan., Will have three remaining seasons at the Dons from the 2021-22 campaign.

Meeks was a part-time starter for Nevada last year before a knee injury sabotaged the end of his season. At the start of 10 of the 18 games he appeared in, Meeks averaged 9.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game. He shot 47 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from three. As a freshman, Meeks averaged 6.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game on 43 percent shooting, of which 36.4 percent of three. His 40 3-pointers made were the fourth most for a newbie wolf pack.

“I’m very excited to add Zane to our program,” said USF trainer Todd Golden in a press release. “He’s a proven goalscorer on the forecourt who also excels as a rebounder. As a confident perimeter shooter, he can really stretch the ground and has the ability to complete with skillful shots on and around the edge. He’s a great student, has a great one. ” Basketball IQ and blends in seamlessly with the other high performing student-athletes we have here on the hill. “

Last season, Meeks missed three games with a knee injury in January. After returning for four games against UNLV and Boise State, he did not play in the last five games of the Wolf Pack with knee tendonitis. Meeks’ high-scoring career ended with a 72-62 win over UNLV on Feb.2. He scored 19 points with eight rebounds. It was one of the last times Meeks played for the wolf pack. Alford spoke beaming about Meeks after this UNLV performance.

“The thing about Zane is that he can, and I told him that later,” said Alford. “‘You can guard. You can pass. And of course you can shoot it and score.’ It’s all about whether you choose to do other things than just shoot, if he does we’re really good because he’s a very good rebounder and I thought his defense in the second half was way better. When he’s on watch his minutes go up. It’s really an easy thing for him because we know he can shoot it and I know he can give us an offensive spark late in the game. “

Meeks is participating in a USF program attending the West Coast Conference. The Dons went 11-14 and 4-9 in the WCC last season, which was Golden’s second year in the program. USF went 22-12 overall and 9-7 for the WCC in Golden’s first season. The Dons defeated Nevada, 85-60, last year and also scored a big surprise over the then No. 4 ranked Virginia, 61-60. They also defeated the Grand Canyon NCAA tournament team during the regular season.

USF could be a good match for Meeks, who has been one of Nevada’s top three-point shooters for the past two seasons. The Dons averaged 10.4 points per game last season, the sixth most in the nation. They averaged 30.4 3-point tries per game, putting them in second place nationwide behind St. Josephs (30.4 per game).

There’s a good chance Meeks will face the wolf pack in the coming season. Nevada and USF were scheduled to play a two-game series in 2020-21, but the second half of that series, which was played at the War Memorial in the Sobrato Center, has been canceled following local COVID-19 restrictions in the Bay Area.

“In the event that no appointment can be made this year, the game on Sunday will be postponed to the 2021-22 season. The wolf pack is coming to the war memorial in Sobrato to complete the original home-and-home series,” USF said in a press release in December.

Meeks joins three graduate transfers previously signed with the Dons, including Yauhen Massalski from San Diego, Gabe Stefanini from Colombia and Patrick Tapé from Duke. Meeks is one of three players broadcasting this off-season. Kane Milling recently signed with UC Davis while Robby Robinson remains in the transfer market.

The opportunity for a special player or even a special athlete turned out to be too attractive in BearDigest.com Mock Draft 5.0, the penultimate mock draft and April 1st.

It’s been two weeks of pro days since the last mock and the latest mock draft included trades and a player that is sure to delight many Bears fans. It has met everyone’s needs as well, although in some cases with some risks and also some players who really have question marks.

What is a trade without a question mark?

In keeping with the idea that GM Ryan Pace can’t draw players who count a lot in rounds 6 and 7 – he has a total of seven starts from players drafted in those rounds in six years – the picks the bears are made of Gathered in Round 6 this year were used as trading bait to easily level up and pick better players.

It’s quality over quantity when you’re already in position and the bears have been in the playoffs for two of the past three years. They’re not Detroit or some other team starting from scratch trying to fill roster posts with young bodies.

Trade I.

Before drafting, hoping to land Justin Fields, I offered the Atlanta Falcons a deal and they accepted. A team starting with a new staff

and if there is a quarterback, he may like more picks, when in reality it will cost the Bears far more than my offer to Atlanta to position for a quarterback. I sent the 20th pick in Round 1, the first and second rounds for next year, and a sixth round pick for next year to Atlanta to move up so I can be in position for Fields. If you remember, the 49ers handed out three # 1s and one third place finish to go from # 12 to # 3. So my trade from 20 to 4 looks like a complete bargain.

PFF only gave the deal a C.

Tough. I liked it.

Trade II

The goal was to get rid of some of the late rubbish that leads Pace to throw leaflets about people like Stephen Denmark or Kerrith Whyte and get to a place where a more productive player could be picked. A three-for-one offer of 204, 208 and 228 for the 159th player was accepted by the Los Angeles Chargers and the Bear’s old buddy Brandon Staley, who needs numbers to rebuild. So the Bears have an extra early fifth round and lose six round players who wouldn’t matter much anyway.

Round 1, Selection # 4: Trey Lance, QB, N. Dakota St.

The New York Jets all crossed twice in the draft simulator. Instead of taking Zach Wilson, they chose Fields, the player I was promoted to.

The drafting simulator came from Pro Football Focus and doesn’t appear to be buying the 49ers-Mac Jones rumor. They then had the 49ers take Wilson.

These steps thwarted my trading, but not entirely.

Trey Lance isn’t the quarterback Wilson is, or the combination of athlete and proven passerby Fields, but he’s a very special athlete. He’s not a special quarterback yet, having had so little experience with top talent and almost no gaming experience due to the pandemic last year.

MP-Elect Burgess Owens, a former Super Bowl champion who went broke after the NFL, comes to Congress with a nine-word message to inspire others: “If I can, you can.”

Owens, 69, turned Utah’s 4th Republican Congressional District over in one of the most competitive races in the House of 2020.

He joins an incredibly diverse team of newbies that he has compared to Super Bowl All-Stars.

Together, the new GOP lawmakers will deliver a proud, positive message of chance and second chance, contrary to the “dark” vision of the Democrats of America, he said.

“The Republican Conservative team is all about hope, freedom, opportunity and looking inside-out, not outside-in,” Owens told Fox News in a recent interview during the Congressional Orientation. “On the other hand, it’s all about division.” . It shares with color, with gender, with wealth. “

Owens called out the leaders of the Democratic Party, including the “elite class” who lived the American dream, but believes it is impossible for others to achieve.

NYC REP.-ELECT NICOLE MALLIOTAKIS SAYS AOC’s growing influence in New York City politics must stop

“These guys live the life of luxury. The NAACP, the Black Caucus [and] Barack Obama. Many of them are millionaires and then tell the rest of us how this country doesn’t work, “Owens said.

Owens, who received a Super Bowl ring in 1981, moved his family from a Long Island house with a pool and luxury cars to a one-bedroom Brooklyn apartment after going through tough financial times after his football career with the New York Jets and Oakland Raiders was advised.

Owens says the GOP offers an optimistic message for those grappling with failure, while the Democratic Party perpetuates the sacrifice.

“As someone who came out of the NFL and lost it all and was a chimney sweep for a few months, a security guard at night. If I can, you can do it,” Owens said. “That is the difference between the conservative message and those who are in the realm of the socialists and Marxists. They want to keep you hopeless so that they can get the power and the advantage that you don’t believe in yourself.”

Owens will join the two elected members of the Black GOP House, Byron Donalds of Florida.

Owens spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention (RNC) in support of President Trump and discussed his family’s roots in slavery.

Owens said his great-great-grandfather Silas Burgess came to America tied up in the belly of a slave ship. It was sold to Burgess Plantation on an auction block in Charleston, SC. A young Burgess managed to escape slavery by using the subway and grew up a landowner and leader in his West Texas community, starting a black church and elementary school.

Generations later, Burgess Owens was born in Columbus, Ohio and named after his first American ancestor. His father ended up in Ohio to earn his doctorate. From Ohio state in 1950 after being rejected from Texas colleges because of his skin color. The family moved to Tallahassee, where his father was a professor of agriculture at Florida A&M, a historically black university.

Growing up in the days of Jim Crow and the Ku Klux Klan, Owens said he hadn’t interacted with white Americans until he was 16. Despite the segregation, Owens likes to talk about how his black neighborhood in Tallahassee gained respect for his entrepreneurship in the 1960s by building a proud middle class and business community. He links the decline of certain black cities to democratic leadership, lack of faith and black men who fail to “man” and marry the mothers of their children.

“When I was growing up, 70% believed and cared about the family,” Owens said. “We now almost 80% of the opinion that having children and not taking care of them is no big deal.”

TEXAS REP.-ELECT BETH VAN DUYNE SAYS OBAMACARE WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST LIES IN HISTORY

Owens’ debut in Congress came in 2019 when he testified before a house committee against reparations for descendants of slaves. He said his ancestors were ashamed of the proliferation of sacrifice in their proud race.

“I’m so against anyone who portrays this generation that has done so much to raise such a large group of children that they are seen as hopeless and unhappy,” Owens said. “You would be dejected and disgusted to be seen as the downtrodden when we were victorious.”

Owens feels no support for Black Lives Matter (BLM), the activist group that rose to prominence this year after the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in Minneapolis police custody on May 25. Owens called out those who stirred up and burned cities in the name of racial justice.

“Whether it’s Antifa, a terrorist group, or BLM, a terrorist group, I’ll tell you one thing they have in common with the KKK: They are cowards and bullies,” said Owens. “They’re hiding their face. They go out every night. They do it in gangs. Your goal is to destroy things, intimidate people, hurt people, and do all the things that are totally against the American way. “

Owens made a comeback as a sales rep for about 25 years after the NFL, first with WordPerfect and ending with Motorola, he said.

In recent years, Owens has been an outspoken critic of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem. He has written two books: “Why I Stand: From Freedom to the Death Fields of Socialism” and “Liberalism or How to Turn Good Men into Whimpers, Weenies and Wimps”.

ILLINOIS REP.-ELECT MARIE NEWMAN rejects SOCIALISM TAG; SAYS GOP TO ‘GO OVER IT’

Owens converted in 1983 through a relationship with a Mormon Raiders teammate of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He speaks of faith as a unifying force to recognize the skin color of the past.

“We become less racist the more faithful we are,” said Owens.

Owens raised his children on the East Coast in the LDS faith, and when it was time for college he encouraged them all to start at least in Utah to be with others with like-minded values.

His children followed the advice and stayed in Utah. Owens also moved there in 2013 and started a nonprofit to help detainees make the transition to life after release.

Now all six of his children and 15 grandchildren live in Utah’s 4th Congressional District, which he will represent in Washington.

“There is currently no district in human history that is more important to me than District 4,” said Owens.
