After offloading his lavish East Bay mansion (and the custom treehouse in the garden) earlier this year, retired San Francisco Giants legend Buster Posey has now listed his sprawling California hunting getaway as he heads back to his native Georgia.

The 106-acre Springer Lodge in Butte County has been listed by California Outdoor Properties for $3.9 million this week. The ranch, around 150 miles outside San Francisco, features a lake, two creeks and many acres of land for duck hunting and fishing.

“I grew up hunting with my dad and my brothers, and I formulated great childhood memories through that,” Posey told the Wall Street Journal, “The kids have enjoyed it for sure.”

The Poseys added to the 3,300 square-foot home during their time there by building a 4,800 square-foot red barn, complete with an events space, game room and five sleeping areas. The family also built a workshop and caretaker house on the land that’s described in the listing as a “one of a kind sportsman’s paradise.”

Posey’s sale of their Lafayette home in March saw them make a significant profit, selling for $9.28 million after purchasing the house for $4.585 million in June 2013 during his long tenure at the Giants, the only MLB team he ever played for. Posey won three World Series championships and was a seven-time All Star in San Francisco. Buster and his wife Kristen, who met in high school in Georgia, are moving back to the Peach State.

The Oroville ranch was bought by the Poseys in 2016 for $1.6 million. A cinematic promotional video for the property showcases the home.

“Far removed from public access, and behind locked gates, the journey into the ranch unfolds as if opening a picture book,” the narrator, who sounds a lot like Sam Elliott, boasts over footage of the sprawling acres and many taxidermied animals.

Take a look here:

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey will announce his retirement from baseball on Thursday, according to a report by The Athletic on Wednesday.

Posey, 34, has played his entire 12-year career in San Francisco, helping the team win three World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

The Giants said last month they would exercise Posey’s $ 22 million club option for the 2022 season as long as the veteran catcher wanted to keep playing after a stellar year.

Posey hinted during the playoffs that he might be ready and said he was willing to spend more family time at home with four young children.

“I’m definitely going to take some time with my wife, talk to her, be a full-time father of four for the first time in a while,” Posey said. Take it slowly and see how things play out . ”

Posey chose from the 2020 campaign shortened by the coronavirus to help care for premature adopted twin girls. He and his wife Kristen also have twins Lee and Addison, who have just turned 10.

Posey, whose deal includes a $ 3 million buyout, helped lead the Giants to a franchise record of 107 wins and their first National League West title since 2012 by regularly on the track played and demonstrated its health and durability.

He hit .304 with 18 homers and 56 RBIs, showing that his surgically repaired right hip was finally back to full strength three years after surgery. Posey would be one of six division-era players to hit .300 or better in his final MLB season, according to ESPN Stats & Information Research.

Posey, the 2010 NL Rookie of the Year, returned from a devastating leg injury at the end of the 2011 season and won the NL MVP the following year.

He tore three ligaments in his left ankle and broke a bone in his lower leg when he was run over by the Scott Cousins of the Marlins on May 25, 2011. Posey responded by winning the 2012 batting crown and MVP honors while turning the Giants to an a. led the second World Series championship in three years.

Posey advocated rules for better protection against collisions with home plate in order to avoid injuries for both catchers and baserunners.

“I try to stay out of the conversation as much as I can because I know people will connect me with him anyway,” Posey said in January 2014. “I just sit back and let the higher forces hammer it the end. I have my thoughts, but I keep them to myself. “

Posey was selected fifth by the Giants in the first round of the 2008 draft from Florida State, where he played all nine field positions in the same game in May 2008.

“Buster Posey is hanging them up. What an incredible career for a lifelong giant,” former Oakland Athletics left-hander Dallas Braden wrote on Twitter. “The statue is already being built.”

Posey is a lifetime .302 hitter, making him one of six catchers in Major League history to start 1,000 games at the catcher and have a lifetime batting average of .300 or more (subject to inclusion of Negro League stats) .

Right-hander Johnny Cueto was activated by the injured list before the game and is about to start his 20th game. The 35-year-old has been sidelined with a right flexion since August 9th.

The San Francisco Giants placed all-star catcher Buster Posey on the 10-day injury list with a bruise of his left thumb, the team said on Friday.

Posey, 34, has not played since his injury in the sixth inning of a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 4th. The move took place retrospectively on Tuesday.

He was injured after firing an awkward shot at his glove after being fouled by Daulton Varsho. An X-ray of the thumb at the time was negative, but an MRI on Thursday revealed a bruised bone.

“If you’ve bruised your heel while running, it can be quite painful and you can make it worse again pretty easily,” manager Gabe Kapler said Friday. “I imagine being back and catching balls that are moving all over the place.”

Posey was chosen to start as a catcher for the National League in the All-Star game next week but said on Friday that he won’t make the trip to Denver.

“I’m of course disappointed,” said Posey, who has now set up seven All-Star teams. “It’s an honor to play in this game. I know my oldest two [kids] were excited to be there. But these things happen and you move on. “

Posey beats .328 with 12 homers for the Giants, who entered the NL with the best record on Friday.

In a corresponding move, the Giants activated the right-hander Logan Webb.
