Julie Levitch wasn’t arrested until a sweaty evening in August 2020 when a neighbor heard broken glass and called the police.

Levitch, a 52-year-old mother of two, had gone to her boyfriend’s house to return his phone. The doorbell was broken, so she knocked on the window. It had cracked, and when she tapped the glass, her hand broke right through, leaving a bloody wound, she said. When the Phoenix police arrived, the couple stated there was nothing wrong – but officers arrested Levitch and charged her with criminal harm through misdemeanor.

She spent the night in jail, where she says she was sexually molested, the cave was searched and put in solitary confinement for 16 hours. Three months later, prosecutors agreed to drop the charges.

Now Levitch is suing – not for her arrest and detention, but because the county jail posted her mug shot online. Like many law enforcement agencies, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office routinely releases photos of people admitted to the local detention center, potentially permanently devastating their lives before they were convicted.

“That photo will be out there forever,” Levitch told me, worrying about how it would affect everything from job openings in her job as a technical writer to new friendships. “We live in a society where you’re supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but I was found guilty the minute the mug shot showed up.”

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has not yet responded to Levitch’s lawsuit, and a spokeswoman declined to comment on pending litigation.

In the digital age, those images of people’s worst days lurk forever as internet clickbait. Many news outlets have stopped posting mug photos – or at least so many of the photos – but some states and cities are starting to grapple with a more fundamental problem: Why are police posting mug photos – and should they be allowed to?

“If you see a mug shot, you are suspecting crime,” said Imani Gandy, a law and court journalist and a vocal critic of the representation of colored people in the news media.

In Oregon, after January 1, law enforcement officials may only release booking photos under certain circumstances, such as trying to find a fugitive.

***

The first time I saw my own mug shot was the day after I was jailed in New York state for heroin. It was December 2010, and I was still on the high of drugs, when the other women in the cell block woke me up to point out my frowning face on the evening news.

With scabby cheeks and a red nose, I looked worse in this photo than any other I’d ever seen of myself. I had no idea then how stubbornly it would follow me. Long after I stopped getting high, articles about my arrest – with that “faces of meth” -like picture attached – were the first results when I typed my name into Google, like a digital ball and a chain to me connects with a previous life.

Still, I was fortunate and privileged to be given a second chance, unlike so many others. When I started working as a reporter, it was part of my job to add mug shots to dozens of local news and crime stories. Media has long been posting the images that drive web traffic and, with it, advertising money.

It wasn’t until some editorial offices began to abandon this practice that I began to wonder why we had ever done this and urged my own editorial team to stop. (The Oregonian / OregonLive has severely restricted the use of mug shots in recent years.)

***

It was only recently that I began to ask why the police had to publish mug shots in the first place.

Some law enforcement agencies are asking themselves this question as well. The Justice Department has repeatedly refused to post mug shots, arguing in a federal appeals court that there is no public safety interest in posting images that represent a “permanent picture of one of the most difficult episodes in a person’s life.”

Last year the San Francisco Police Department also suspended their release.

“The widespread publication of police posting photos in the news and on social media creates an illusory correlation for viewers that encourages racial prejudice and vastly overestimates the propensity of black and brown men to commit criminal behavior,” said Chief Bill Scott at the time.

Now the department only publishes arrest photos if they have a clear law enforcement purpose – such as finding a suspect or missing person. Last month, Newark, New Jersey police announced a similar policy change.

At least three states have gone a step further and have banned some mug shots from being published. In 2019, New York changed its Open Records Act to prohibit posting of mug shots unless it helps law enforcement. That year, California banned police from posting the pictures on social media, and Utah banned mug shots from posting until after the conviction.

The changes generated some resistance, particularly from civil rights groups and journalists. At a February hearing, Salt Lake City investigative reporter Nate Carlisle asked lawmakers to reject Utah law, pointing out that mug shots are sometimes the only evidence of police brutality during an arrest.

“I just don’t think it’s good public policy to hand out fewer government documents,” he told me a few weeks ago. “Whether journalists should publish them is another discussion.”

Since mug shots are often viewed as public records rather than criminal records – the latter of which are considered too personal in many states to release – it’s hard to win a lawsuit like Levitch’s.

“These lawsuits are usually dismissed because the agency says, ‘It’s a public record and we have the right to publish it,'” said Sarah Lageson, a Rutgers sociologist who studies mug shots.

There are a few exceptions, she said. A 2016 court ruling allowed the Department of Justice to withhold mug shots, and in a Pennsylvania case, ex-prisoners were awarded cash damages when a federal jury ruled that releasing mug shots was against the Open Records Act.

“It should be a change in the law and then we wouldn’t have to rely on judicial interpretation of what is publicly available in the digital age,” said Lageson.

Some law enforcement say that posting mug shots can encourage other victims to come forward, and others claim – without evidence – that threating a mug shot can help deter crime.

But for people who have publicly posted their mug shots, it seems like the practice also discourages rebuilding a life. Sometimes it’s hard to pinpoint the exact damage because when a would-be job or a landlord or date pops up after discovering a stigmatizing picture online, we usually never know. To Levitch, this seems to undermine the basic protections our justice system should have.

“Is it constitutional to publish mug shots that damage the reputation of people when they are still innocent?” Said Levite. “It just seems naturally unfair and not American to do this.”

OAKLAND (CBS SF / BCN) – It’s finally here: Oakland officials say they expect to release the final environmental impact report on the proposed new stadium for the Oakland A’s at the Howard Terminal on Friday morning.

The report is expected to be posted on the city’s website at 8:00 a.m. City officials will recommend that the Oakland Planning Commission certify the report and send it to the city council for approval.

CONTINUE READING: Former Atherton school assistant, babysitter advocates no appeal against child pornography charges

The planning commission will take up this recommendation on January 19th and the city council can approve the report in February.

“The release of the final environmental impact report is an important milestone in our journey to building a new waterfront ballpark area that will create up to 18 acres of beautiful public parks, more affordable housing and good jobs for Oaklanders,” said Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.

Oakland A released renders of their planned new ballpark at Howard Terminal near Jack London Square in Oakland (courtesy Bjarke Ingels Group)

“The 3,500-page document is thorough and comprehensive and ensures that the project is environmentally friendly and sustainable,” said Schaaf. “The completion of the EIR also keeps us on track to bring the 2022 project to the final vote in the city council – and brings us one step closer to keeping our beloved A’s rooted in Oakland.”

The final EIR does not contain any “material” new information and does not need to be re-circulated, thereby delaying a vote on it.

A’s proposal not only envisages a new stadium with around 35,000 seats, but also apartments, a hotel and a performance venue with 3,500 seats as well as commercial space.

The entire development would be on approximately 55 acres in the Jack London Square area.

CONTINUE READING: School districts warn of threatening campuses from TikTok challenges; Gilroy HS cancels Friday courses as a preventive measure

The approval of the overall project consists of an environmental assessment, project assessment and project agreements. The city and the A’s are well advanced in the approval process, although the A’s are considering moving the team to Las Vegas.

A’s President Dave Kaval has said it’s Howard Terminal for the A’s or they are moving out of Oakland.

The approval of the final environmental impact assessment by the city council would complete the environmental assessment process.

City officials are waiting for the A’s to revise the plans and present them to the city as part of the project appraisal process. The two now draft and negotiate the project agreements, which are of a financial nature.

A lawsuit could delay the project, but for a limited time. Assembly Bill 734 sets a limit for the duration of a lawsuit over the project.

Frequent questions raised by the draft EIR included railroad safety, parking, bridges over the railroad tracks near the proposed park, and questions about why a ballpark cannot be built at the Oakland Coliseum site. City officials answered any of the questions or concerns.

Answers to these questions were not available on Thursday, but the answers will be part of the final EIR released on Friday. More than 400 comments were made on the draft EIR.

The Oakland A’s did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the publication of the final EIR on Thursday afternoon.

WASHINGTON (CBS SF / AP) – As sky-high gas prices in the San Francisco Bay Area drive the average price in California to new heights, President Joe Biden on Tuesday ordered the release of 50 million barrels of oil from America’s strategic reserve to allocate the cut support gasoline and energy costs.

Biden’s action was in coordination with other major energy-consuming nations, including India, Great Britain and China.

CONTINUE READING: Controversial prosecutor Chesa Boudin: “We want everyone in San Francisco to feel safe”

“Today we are embarking on a great effort to bring the price of oil down, an effort that will span the globe and eventually reach your corner gas station, God willing,” said President Biden. “I’ve worked hard in phone calls and meetings with overseas leaders and policymakers over the past few weeks to put together the building blocks for today’s global announcement. And while our joint actions won’t solve the problem of high gas prices overnight, it will make a difference. “

The move is aimed at global energy markets, but also at US voters who are struggling with higher inflation and rising prices ahead of Thanksgiving and winter vacation travel. Gasoline prices are around $ 3.40 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association, more than 50% higher than a year ago.

In California, however, the average price is currently $ 4.71 a gallon, a decrease from last week’s record increase to more than $ 4.85 a gallon. In the Bay Area, gas prices have exceeded $ 5 a gallon in many areas.

According to the AAA, recent heavy rains in Northern California have curtailed production capacity, which then seeped into Southern California – exactly what happened in Louisiana with Hurricane Ida.

The Biden announcement comes as some people prepare to travel considerable distances to see loved ones for Thanksgiving. While gasoline prices of nearly $ 5 per gallon make car trips more expensive, they also affect people’s daily lives and monthly budgets.

“I think anyone who comes to the gas station doesn’t really want to be here,” said Steven Mangano of San Jose as he pumped gas at a Chevron gas station in South Bay.

Laura Esparza from San Jose filled her tank on the way to work. It takes more than $ 100 to fill it up. If she does this at least twice a week, her wallet will be hit hard.

“I pump out gas more than once a week. I don’t have a small car, ”said Esparza. “With daily bills, rent, everything is so expensive, and now gasoline? It adds up. “

She hopes President Biden’s announcement to release oil from the strategic oil reserve will bring gas prices down here in the Bay Area.

“Lowering prices will help a lot,” says Esparza.

Patrick De Haan, Head of Petroleum Analysis at Gas Buddy, says drivers will soon be able to see the difference.

“Right now we could see relief that could reach or exceed 25 cents a gallon by Christmas,” De Haan said

An estimated 53 million people will be driving to their destination on Thanksgiving, with even more planning to drive on vacation in December.

The government will begin putting barrels on the market in mid to late December. However, the action is unlikely to cut gasoline prices significantly right away as families go on vacation. Gasoline usually has a delay in responding to changes in oil prices, and administrative officials suggested that this is one of several steps that can ultimately be taken to bring costs down.

Oil prices had fallen in the days leading up to the announced redemptions, a sign that investors were anticipating moves that could add 70 to 80 million barrels of oil to world markets. But in Tuesday morning trading, prices shot up almost 2% instead of falling.

The market was expecting the news and traders may have been overwhelmed when they saw the details, said Claudio Galimberti, senior vice president of oil markets at Rystad Energy.

“The problem is that everyone knows this measure is temporary,” said Galimberti. “So once it stops, if demand continues to outpace supply, as it is now, you are back in first place.”

Shortly after the US announcement, India announced it would release 5 million barrels from its strategic reserves. And the UK government has confirmed it will release up to 1.5 million barrels from its inventory. Japan and South Korea are also participating. Government officials say it is the largest coordinated release from global strategic reserves.

CONTINUE READING: The third ski resort in Sierra has been delayed opening due to dry weather

Prime Minister Boris Johnson spokesman Max Blain said it was “a sensible and measured move in support of global markets” during the pandemic recovery. Blain added that UK businesses will be authorized, but not compelled, to participate in the release.

The actions of the US and others also risk counter-movements by the Gulf states, especially Saudi Arabia, and Russia. Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states have made it clear that they want to control supply in order to keep prices high for the time being.

As an impending joint release of US and other countries’ reserves has spread in the past few days, there have been warnings from OPEC interests that these countries may react on their part and break their promises to increase supplies in the coming months.

Biden has sought to reshape much of his economic agenda around inflation, saying his recently passed $ 1 trillion infrastructure package will ease price pressures by making the transportation of goods more efficient and cheaper.

Republican lawmakers hammered the government for inflation to hit a 31-year high in October. The consumer price index rose by 6.2% compared to the previous year – the largest twelve-month jump since 1990.

Senate Republican Chairman Mitch McConnell stormed the White House in a speech last week saying the victims of the higher prices were middle-class Americans.

“The three biggest drivers of the staggering 6.2% inflation we recorded last month were housing, transportation and food,” said the Kentucky Senator. “This is not a luxury, but the essentials, and from the middle class onwards they take up a much larger part of the family budget.”

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is an emergency repository to secure access to oil in the event of natural disasters, national security issues, and other incidents. The reserves, managed by the Department of Energy, are stored in caves created in salt domes along the Gulf coasts of Texas and Louisiana. There are around 605 million barrels of oil in the reserve.

“With an unprecedented global economic downturn behind us, oil supplies have not kept pace with demand, forcing working families and businesses to pay the price,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said in a statement. “This move underscores the President’s commitment to using the tools available to cut costs for working families and continue our economic recovery.”

The Biden government has argued that the reserve is the right tool to help alleviate the supply problem. According to the Energy Information Administration, Americans consumed an average of 20.7 million barrels a day in September. This means that the release equates to approximately two and a half days of additional supply.

The pandemic has shaken the energy markets. When closings began in April 2020, demand collapsed and oil futures prices turned negative. Energy traders didn’t want to get stuck with crude oil they couldn’t store. But as the economy recovered, prices jumped to a seven-year high in October.

US production has not recovered. Energy Information Administration figures show domestic production averages around 11 million barrels daily, up from 12.8 million barrels before the pandemic began.

Republicans have also seized Biden’s efforts to minimize drilling and promote renewables as the reason for the decreased production, although several market dynamics are at play as fossil fuel prices are higher around the world.

Meanwhile, Biden and government officials insist that unlocking more oil from the reserves does not run counter to the president’s long-term climate goals, as it is a short-term solution to a specific problem, while climate policy is a long-term answer for decades.

They argue that the US’s dependence on fossil fuels will ultimately be less as they push to promote renewable energy. But that’s a politically convenient argument – in simple terms, higher prices reduce consumption, and significantly higher gasoline prices could force Americans to become less dependent on fossil fuels.

“The only long-term solution to rising gas prices is to continue our march to end our dependence on fossil fuels and create a resilient green energy economy,” said Democratic Senate Chairman Chuck Schumer in support of the release.

The White House decision comes after weeks of diplomatic negotiations. In their virtual meeting earlier this month, Biden and President Xi Jinping of China spoke about steps to tackle oil scarcity and “discussed the importance of measures to combat global energy supplies,” according to the White House.

The US Department of Energy will provide oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in two ways; 32 million barrels will be released over the next few months and will return to the reserve in the coming years, the White House said. Another 18 million barrels will be part of a Congress-approved oil sale.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday night the White House will keep an eye on oil companies that have “made record profits” and watch out for price gouging “when there is a supply of oil or the price of oil goes down and the price of gas goes down does not sink. “

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – A bill aimed at putting pressure on the San Francisco police and the San Francisco prosecutors to release more data on domestic violence cases was tabled in committee Thursday.

“I urge prosecutors to release what we have requested and more,” San Francisco Regulatory Authority Catherine Stefani said during a public safety and neighborhood services committee hearing.

ACTION: Get help with violence, assault, and abuse at home

Stefani says there is evidence that victims of domestic violence are kept short in the criminal justice system. It introduced a law in May that, if passed, would require the SFPD and the prosecutor’s office to provide quarterly reports on domestic violence cases to the board of directors, the mayor and other city departments.

“Reporting requires how many calls to 911 are made that are related to domestic violence and how many of those calls involve a child or a gun,” Stefani said.

VIDEO: SF program pays vulnerable residents $ 300 each month to help reduce violence

Legislation would also require that the number of domestic violence cases submitted to prosecutors be disclosed along with the charges filed and the outcome of those cases.

The bill’s hearing follows a report recently released by the Family Violence Council that found that 79 percent of people fleeing abuse and / or seeking protection were turned away during the pandemic due to capacity constraints and increased demand.

“It is very difficult for domestic violence survivors to leave the country,” said Jenny Pearlman, who works with Safe and Sound, a children’s aid organization. “If a family that has experienced violence has no shelter, the family will most likely have to return to the home where the abuse takes place.”

RELATED: Taking Domestic Violence Calls While Staying at COVID-19 Santa Clara Co.

There were 131 arrests for domestic violence crimes in San Francisco in the fourth quarter of 2020, according to SFPD. 86 percent of these cases were dismissed, only nine percent were charged.

ABC7 reached out to the prosecutor’s office and asked for a larger sample of this data to see how many domestic violence cases were indicted throughout the year. Our team did not receive this information before our deadline, but received the following statement:

“Numbers declined during the pandemic, especially during detention periods, which particularly affected cases of domestic violence. As a result, our office has also allocated significant resources to expanding support for domestic violence victims to provide shelter and transportation during the pandemic. ”

The prosecutor’s office also told ABC7 that filing and fee rates for domestic violence cases in San Francisco rose from 24 percent in 2020 to 31 percent this year. By comparison, over the past five years, the highest fee rate reported for this type of case was 35 percent in 2018.

“I just think we have to do better,” said Stefani.

The draft law will be presented to the Supervisory Board for the first full vote in two weeks.

SANTA CLARA, California – – The process of creating the NFL schedule used to be a tedious one, and executives like Val Pinchbeck spent months placing the games one by one on his board until the commissioner could approve a final product.

Making late tweaks or looking for alternative options when a big game moves from early to late in the season wasn’t really possible for all pieces of the intricate puzzle to fit together.

The 272-game schedule the NFL released on Wednesday was completely different. Amazon Web Services computers negotiated the trillions of ways in what day, at what time, and on what network to play each game and the league officials 80,000 of them before making a final decision.

“Now that we have all of the automation and hardware, we basically have 5,000 Vals,” said Mike North, vice president of NFL Broadcast. “Instead of Val making a schedule by hand. We have 5,000 computers that schedule each one. So we have 5,000 Vals out there.”

The planning process begins once the previous season ends and the opponents and websites are blocked for all games. The league asks the teams for suggestions on inquiries as well as the five network partners.

The final piece of the puzzle will be placed after the Super Bowl, with the champion hosting the season opener on Thursday evening. Tampa Bay was used as the host for Dallas in that game.

The league is trying to narrow down the trillions of options by kicking the schedule with around 80 prime-time “seed” games and other premium TV spots like double-header windows and holidays.

“If you start from scratch, go to 100 and hit the button, we could have every computer on the planet and all the years in our lives, and we would still never find one,” said North. “We have to break the problem into bite-sized pieces.”

The schedulers operate with a “leader in the clubhouse” mentality, with a schedule always positioned as a winner until it is replaced.

Every morning they get new schedules from the cloud computers and check if anyone is worth being the new leader. They then give instructions to the computers by removing some of the startup games or moving them to other places to see if that helps eliminate other problems.

The process repeats itself until the league has decided on a final option. While at the beginning of the process you could look at hundreds of schedules in a day, you might end up only getting five, all of which could be worth becoming the new leader.

“It’s a constant dance,” said North. “Thank god for the amount of hardware we can get our hands on. Before, when six computers were running side by side, we thought it was space shuttle technology. And now there are literally 5,000 soldiers out there all over the planet scattered, looking at a slightly different branch of the search tree, everyone is trying to find the magical, mythical unicorn on a perfect schedule. “

The NFL switched from the manual map to rooms full of servers that the league had to buy and configure. In 2017, the league signed a contract with Amazon to use cloud technology to create the schedule. In doing so, she took advantage of Amazon’s technology, which uses predictive analytics, to create a more ideal schedule for TV partners.

The deal allowed the NFL to access more computers at a cheaper cost, as Amazon does most of the work outside of business hours when demand for its cloud service is low.

AWS goes through trillions of possibilities, with the league looking at more than 80,000 of them to be considered playable.

“The performance and cost combined allow the NFL to create basically far, much more schedules than anyone could ever read,” said David Brown, vice president of Elastic Compute Cloud at Amazon. “It really allows them to come up with the perfect schedule. The NFL can literally accommodate an infinite number of possible inputs, which simply has never been possible before.”

The process was a little more complicated earlier this year as planners had to allow for both 16- and 17-game seasons to begin with.

While the 17th game added myriad more possible schedules to the equation, it also provided a factor that made it easier. Typically, games are assigned networks with each game where an AFC team is on its way to CBS and an NFC team is on its way to Fox.

Every network loses some of these games to prime-time partners, but the NFL tries to keep them fair for both CBS and Fox. The 16 games added this year are considered “free agents” so in week 6 the NFL could put a premium game like Dallas in New England on CBS without Fox considering it stolen.

With the new TV deal in 2023, all games will start as free agents, which makes the math equation easier, but also means that all network partners will likely have the same needs for big games.

Team requests fall into two main categories. There are usually more than 100 dates that teams cannot play at home due to the availability of the stadium or some other major event in the city and then there are other types of requests.

Some teams like to play one after the other on the opposite coast and spend a week of practice on the street. Some hope to play Thanksgiving or Christmas this season, others ask not to. Warm weather teams want to avoid the cold late in the season, and cold weather teams want to stay away from the heat and humidity in September.

And all of the teams remember every schedule from years past and make sure the NFL knows about them.

“Everyone has very long memories and very specific questions,” said North. “It’s a thankless job threading that needle, knowing we’ll never get there. The whole exercise here is creating the schedule so that all teams are disappointed as minimally and as evenly as possible.”

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – San Francisco police will stop publishing mug shots of arrested persons unless they pose a threat to the public to stop the perpetuation of racist stereotypes, the city police chief said Wednesday.

San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott and outside law enforcement experts said they believe the department would be the first in the nation to do so due to concerns about racial prejudice.

The accounting photos taken by the police when a person is arrested for a crime are often made public, regardless of whether the person is being prosecuted for the alleged crime or not. That can undermine the presumption of innocence and help maintain stereotypes, experts said.

“This is just a small step, but we hope others will consider it too,” said Scott.

Big cities like Los Angeles and New York already have policies against posting posting photos, but make exceptions. For example, the New York City Police Department, the largest in the country, publishes information about arrests but does not issue mug shots unless investigators believe it will cause more witnesses to come forward or to help find a suspect help. Georgia and New York have stopped posting posting photos to restrict websites asking people to remove their pictures and posting information.

Jack Glaser, a public policy professor at the University of California at Berkeley who studies racial stereotypes and whose work has consulted with Scott, said data shows that arrested blacks are more likely to have their cases turned down by prosecutors.

“This is possibly just part of the same problem where the police will stop and search the blacks at a lower suspicion threshold, and therefore their arrests are more likely to be unfounded,” Glaser said.

But the mug shots live on.

Numerous websites will post the mug shots regardless of whether someone has been convicted of a crime, and then charge a fee to those who want their photo removed. The phenomenon prompted the California attorney general to charge one of the largest operators with extortion, money laundering and identity theft.

Scott said this is helping Americans create an unfair association between people of color and criminal. The adoption of the new policy is part of an effort to stop the spread of negative minority stereotypes, which Scott, the black, experienced when he was out of uniform.

“You go into a department store and are followed and the security service looks at you suspiciously. I’ve seen that, ”said Scott.

In San Francisco, the only exceptions will be when a crime suspect poses a threat or when officials need help locating a suspect or person at risk, Scott said. According to the policy, the publication of photos or information about a person who has been arrested must also be approved by the Police Department’s PR team.

Eugene O’Donnell, a former NYPD officer and professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, said not every department cracking down on the publication of mug shots gives a reason. The San Francisco Police Department is the first he knows is implementing policies to stop racial prejudice, he said.

He said preventing mug shots of suspects from being published on television shows and elsewhere should be part of a major judicial reform in the country.

“For a democratic society we are very unconcerned about human rights and the presumption of innocence,” said O’Donnell. “We are stealing freedom from people and ruining people’s reputations before anyone has ever made a decision about whether or not the person committed the crime.”

Nina Salarno, president of the Crime Victims United of California advocacy group, praised Scott’s efforts to address racial prejudice but expressed concern about how the department will decide which photos to publish. She said posting posting photos can help crime victims come forward.

“The only concern for the victims side is how they categorize and who decides which ones to release to the public.” Asked Salarno.

2020 is over and many are very happy about it. It seems that every industry suffered a major financial blow in 2020, and many have never recovered from it.

An industry not only survived, it also thrived. Danielle Lazier is one of Compass San Francisco’s premier real estate agents, California. Their website has an up-to-date look back at 2020, and the numbers are pretty surprising.

San Francisco is divided into ten separate departments – districts – and house values have been rising and rising in each district since 2010. This means the outlook for 2021 and beyond is good for those looking to get to the west coast and the bay.

“The pandemic set my agency Compass San Francisco back a little. I am confident the numbers will stay strong through 2021. The surge in the vaccine is possibly the strongest indicator of growth, ”Lazier said.

If you want to move a property in one of the districts, you should remember the basics of selling a home: a functional floor plan, good condition, performed by the right realtor at the right price with the right staging and marketing. All of this ensures that the property moves and that it moves quickly.

Lazier and her team of Compass real estate agents in San Francisco have already worked hard to leave 2020 behind and look forward to 2021.

“There is no magic ball to look into and see the future but we are all hopeful based on our previous numbers,” said Lazier.

More information, including statistics for all ten counties, can be found on the Lazier website. Visit http://daniellelazier.com to learn more, view available properties, or to schedule a viewing.
