‘YOLO,’ means ‘you only live once,’ for those unfamiliar with the term. It was widely popularized by Canadian rapper Drake in his 2011 banger, The Motto, featuring Lil Wayne.

Denise Kohne, a realtor with Compass who listed the property for sale, said the sign was there when the current owners purchased the home in 2018.

“We obviously wanted to include it with the sale, pass it on,” Kohne said.

With Trey Lance poised to take over as the 49ers’ starting quarterback next season, Niner Noise looks at some potential options to sign as the backup.

With a painful 20-17 loss in the NFC Championship game now in the books, the San Francisco 49ers must now look to the future next season.

Incumbent quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will almost certainly be traded to provide some healthy cap relief, and Trey Lance will take over the helm.

That’s right, it’s the Lance era now for San Francisco. Lance will bring a lower floor but a higher ceiling to the position, and his play has undoubtedly improved as the 2021 season went on.

But with Lance moving up to the starting role, someone must now back him up, who won’t be Garoppolo if he’s traded on. The free agency market for a starting quarterback is exceptionally thin this offseason, but there is a bit of a market for potential backups on the way.

As Niners fans have learned a lot from previous seasons, a good backup quarterback is a must for any team. To have a chance of salvaging a season, you need someone who can take over if needed for a few games.

As Lance is a young, raw talent at the position, San Francisco would do best to bring in a veteran presence who can steer the ship if needed.

Luckily there are quite a few players who can be brought in.

Niner Noise will look at five potential candidates to back up Lance, backing up the pros and cons of bringing in that particular quarterback to the team.

Let’s take a look at the first quarterback on that particular list.

For the second time in his career, Matt Carasiti is a member of the San Francisco Giants organization. However, unlike his first time with the organization, the 30-year-old right-hander is hoping to have the opportunity to actually show what he can do on the hill.

The San Francisco Giants have signed Matt Carasiti to a minor league contract

On January 6, 2020, Carasiti was signed by the San Francisco Giants to a minor league deal that included an invite to spring training. His stint with the Giants was short-lived, however, as he underwent Tommy John surgery a little over two months later, just before the COVID-19 pandemic brought Major League Baseball to a halt.

He was released by the Giants after the surgery, but was picked up by the Boston Red Sox a year later as part of a minor league deal. Before and after signing this contract, Carasiti worked on developing his fastball (at more speed than ever before) to combine it with an already developed forkball that could also be a weapon.

While Carasiti didn’t have time in MLB with the Red Sox, he does have experience with the Colorado Rockies and Seattle Mariners on a major league mound, throwing over 25.1 total innings in 2016 (Rockies) and 2019 (Mariners). 30 games ) seasons. Results were better with Seattle in a shorter sample size (4.66 ERA in 11 games vs. 9.19 ERA in 19 games with Colorado), but that was before Tommy John had surgery and a remodeled elbow that showed promise for a Carasiti -Moving to the new look was forward.

Since being drafted in the sixth round by the Rockies in the 2012 MLB draft, Carasiti has been a member of five different organizations. He has appeared in 250 minor league games and started 34 of them early in his career before moving to the bullpen where he has 81 career saves.

The Giants will take a look at what Carasiti can possibly bring them in spring training, and then will likely start the season in the minor leagues. However, if he can master both fastball and forkball, look to San Francisco to give him a chance in the Big League bullpen sometime in 2022.

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX) – For the first time since the pandemic began, a towering Majestic Princess cruise ship moored in San Francisco harbor. It was a hopeful sight and could signal a comeback for the competitive cruise industry.

In March 2020, a cruise ship with sick passengers and crew members landed in the bay. It was San Francisco’s first contact with the coronavirus and many people feared it. But on Monday another cruise ship docked and brought not illness, but optimism for the future.

CONTINUE READING: Napa County crews battle the fast-moving Newell Fire in the American Canyon

For city commuters, it was a place for sore eyes. The Majestic Princess docked there on Monday morning at 6:30 a.m. as the first cruise ship since the beginning of the pandemic.

“Oh, I’m so excited. It’s like the world is opening up for us again. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, ”said Sandy Lipkowitz, owner of a local travel agency called We Make Travel Easy.

Lipkowitz said it was unfortunate that another ship, the Grand Princess, became an early global symbol of the pandemic. They were stuck in Oakland with sick passengers and crew members and sat on a cargo berth and could not come ashore for fear of the new virus.

“You know, the princess had a hard time in the beginning,” said Lipkowitz. “It was really unfair, they were caught at sea when nobody knew what was going on.”

Now the precautionary measures are closely monitored. Without a proof of vaccination and a negative COVID test, nobody can get on the ship. Guests wear masks when moving around the boat, except in the dining areas. The protocols are so strict that what was once considered a super-spreader environment is now considered by many travel professionals to be the safest form of travel in the world.

CONTINUE READING: Report: Jon Gruden resigns as Raiders head coach after abusive emails

“It’s as safe as anything else,” said cruise fan Tom Barton. “You can go to a soccer field with 40,000 people and in my opinion it’s not as safe as coming here on a cruise ship.”

The city is also happy about the return of the ships. In the year before the pandemic, cruise lines brought 280,000 tourists to San Francisco and contributed $ 27 million to economic benefits for local businesses.

“So you can imagine that this cruise break definitely slowed economic activity,” said Andre Coleman, deputy director of SF Port Maritime. “But we look forward to the safe resumption of the cruise and look forward to a record year in 2022.”

Because 127 cruise stops are already planned in San Francisco for next year, more than ever before. These include 28 from a new ship that will make The City its home port, the Carnival Miracle.

But on Monday morning the Majestic Princess performed a little miracle, both on and off the boat.

“I think you are seeing the return of life,” said Richard Bullen as he photographed the huge ship from the dock. “The flow starts to happen in a way that it didn’t have before. That hadn’t happened before. “

MORE NEWS: Dissatisfaction in Silicon Valley: 7 out of 10 say that the quality of life has declined in a survey; 56% viewed as an exit

And now that the first cruise ship has arrived, there are many more to come. Assuming everything goes well, 21 stops are planned for the remaining three months of 2021.

The 49ers add more help with the linebacker. During the Saturday night preseason loss to San Francisco, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that they would sign veteran linebacker Mychal Kendricks.

The Eagles won Kendricks in the second round of the 2012 draft. He spent six years with Philadelphia before joining the Seahawks, where he played for two years, and last year he played in a game for Washington.

Kendricks pleaded guilty to insider trading charges in 2018 that resulted in his release by the Browns, but Cleveland suspended him after the charges were brought. In the 2018 season he was suspended for eight games. In July that year, he was sentenced to one day in prison plus three years probation and 300 hours of community service.

The 49ers need some linebacker depth, and a veteran like Kendricks could help them out in camp, but he’d have a real chance at making the club given the inexperience in the depth chart. The free agent Jonas Griffith, who was not drafted in the second year, and the journeyman LB James Burgess Jr. both started the start of the preseason on Saturday. Former tough security guard Marcell Harris and undrafted rookies Justin Hilliard and Elijah Sullivan also played with Fred Warner, who was out, and Azeez Al-Shaair and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, both of whom were out with injuries.

Kendricks has played 104 games with 91 starts in nine years. He has 548 tackles, 52 tackles for loss, 19.0 sacks, four interceptions, 30 pass breakups and four forced fumbles.

San Francisco has a full roster, so adding Kendricks will require a move to do so, although none have been announced.

The San Francisco 49ers have yet another injury to contend with than strong safety starter Jaquiski Tartt. He is said to be nowhere near ready to return while struggling with a toe disease.

For the time being, San Francisco has decided to replace him with the former first-round pick and Pro Bowl Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the two teams reached an agreement just days before the San Francisco 49ers preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Clinton-Dix, 28, was a first-round pick for the Green Bay Packers in 2014. He played at Green Bay for five seasons and won a Pro Bowl seat in 2016. During that time, the former Alabama standout had 275 tackles, 33 passes defended, and 16 interceptions.

He last played for the Chicago Bears in 2019, starting all 16 games while recording 78 tackles and two interceptions. After signing a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys last off-season, Clinton-Dix was fired before Week 1. Now that we’ve deepened their security group, let’s look at three more steps San Francisco should take before its season opener.

The San Francisco 49ers sign Dre Kirkpatrick

With Richard Sherman’s return less likely due to his legal situation, San Francisco brought this nine-year veteran to a training session earlier this summer. Both sides could not agree on an agreement.

Click here to see our San Francisco 49ers Season Preview and Predictions

It is now high time that General Manager John Lynch and Co. put this opportunity back on its feet. The 49ers have big concerns behind starters Jason Verrett and Emmanuel Moseley heading into the 2021 season. After playing 78 games over the course of his career, Kirkpatrick would give San Francisco valuable cornerback experience. He recorded 56 tackles, seven defended passes and three interceptions in 14 games (11 starts) for the Arizona Cardinals last season.

San Francisco 49ers trade for N’Keal Harry

Speaking of depth concerns, San Francisco avoided the wide receiver position during both the Free Agency and the NFL draft as if it were a new twist on COVID-19. It’s a bit of a surprise after Kendrick Bourne joins the New England Patriots in Free Agency.

With some big question marks behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco would be wise to call the Pats about this former first round pick. Sure, Harry struggled during his first two NFL seasons (33 receptions). But he can be a big target for Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance. The former Arizona State star is also only 23 years old and could allegedly be up for a late pick.

San Francisco 49ers trade Jimmy Garoppolo

May 25, 2021; Santa Clara, California, USA; San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (10) during organized team activities at the San Francisco 49ers Training Facility. Mandatory Credit: Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The ship could have sailed as it exited this Super Bowl quarterback. And in reality, it makes perfect sense for San Francisco to keep Garoppolo for at least one more season. While Lance has shown at camp, that type of experience should be in the center of attention for a Super Bowl contender.

With that in mind, Garoppolo’s commercial value could soon go up depending on what we see in the preseason. If the Denver Broncos’ quarterback situation remains unresolved, General Manager George Paton could call. Depending on Carson Wentz’s injury in Indianapolis, the Colts may need to show interest before Week 1. If San Francisco can get a second-round pick for Garoppolo and is comfortable with Lance starting out as a rookie, it has to be at least part of the thought process for the team.

Three major North American standards organizations, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE) and CSA Standards have an agreement to harmonize five standards on automatic equalizing valves, anti-siphon fill valves, trap seal primers, pressure flushing devices (flushometers ) and water temperature limiters. This harmonization agreement is intended to help bring clarity to the sanitary industry; especially to the manufacturers of devices that fall under the harmonized standards.

The agreement between the three organizations states that the purpose of the harmonized standards is to help U.S. and Canadian manufacturers by avoiding the duplication of effort in writing standards for the same products in different countries. This means that every product can be designed, manufactured and tested according to a common standard. This will help ensure consistent, high quality products, reduce costs (for manufacturers and consumers) and also help create a common basis for product comparisons.

The first harmonized standard for performance requirements for automatic equalizing valves for individual showers and bathtub / shower combinations is expected to be completed and ready for delivery this year.

Each of the harmonized ASME / ASSE / CSA standards will enable comparable testing of products for the US and Canadian markets. The harmonized standards have the ultimate goal of requiring compliance with a standard and a test, providing a fair assessment process for manufacturers and buyers in different countries, and helping to maintain or improve the current level of product performance. The harmonized standards will be maintained on an ongoing basis to take account of new technologies, regional or regulatory differences and, where practicable and possible, to move towards performance-based requirements and standards.

The signed harmonization agreement between CSA, ASME and ASSE came into force on December 1, 2009. The first efforts to develop common standards began in October 1991 when the CSA and ASSE signed a letter of intent. After several years of cooperation, a Joint Harmonization Task Group was formed in 2007 to meet the requirements of ASME A112.18.1-2005 / CSA B125.1-05, sanitary fittings, and ASSE 1016, Performance Requirements for Automatic Compensing Valves for Individual. to harmonize showers and bathtub / shower combinations. At these meetings it became clear that an agreement between CSA, ASME and ASSE would be needed to lay down the basic rules for harmonizing documents. Representatives of the three organizations met on April 22, 2009 to get the agreement in motion and to initiate the harmonization process that ultimately led to the joint agreement.

The San Francisco 49ers brought back a household name in West Coast football on Monday, signing former USC wide receiver Marqise Lee.

The signing comes after Lee attended the rookie mini camp in San Francisco last weekend and showed himself 100% in the process.

The 29-year-old was a Jacksonville Jaguars second-round pick in 2014 and last played in the NFL in 2019. He appeared in just six games before sustaining a knee injury. Lee’s best run came with Jacksonville in 2016 and 2017, when he recorded 119 receptions for 1,553 yards together before missing the entire 2018 campaign due to injury.

After signing with the New England Patriots last off-season, the 6-foot Lee dropped out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last but not least, this move gives the San Francisco 49ers the much-needed depth on the wide receiver behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.

Whether Jimmy Garoppolo or rookie # 3 Trey Lance picks up the mid-49ers in 2021, having more than two capable wide receivers will be a big deal. Below are three moves San Francisco should make before training camp begins in July.

The 49ers sign Richard Sherman again

A five-alert vegetation fire engulfed parts of Sign Hill in South San Francisco just after noon on Friday and was contained in about two hours.

Just three hours later, a four-alarm fire broke out in the industrial park south of the city center.

Police in South San Francisco said two teenagers who were spotted by an alerted resident leaving the scene immediately after the fire started were identified and questioned. The two 14- and 16-year-olds admitted to being responsible for starting the fire. They have been released to the family pending the investigation, police said.

The Sign Hill fire threatened homes and mandatory evacuations were ordered, but ultimately no homes were destroyed and no one was injured. However, there was minor structural damage, firefighters said. It is not yet known how many acres were burned or what caused the fire.

Mandatory evacuations were issued for Carnelian Road, Sonja Road, Mountain Road, Ridgeview Court and Viewmont Terrance and remained in effect from 3:30 p.m. as crews performed mop-up work and continued to extinguish burns. A temporary evacuation center has been set up in the MSB Social Hall at 33 Arroyo Drive.

Flames burned through vegetation, including particularly flammable eucalyptus trees, to the left of the South San Francisco The Industrial City sign, and the rising smoke could be seen from a distance. Winds carried the smoke to the southwest over Pacifica and briefly colored the sky red there.

More than 25 fire engines, as well as helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, responded to the fire. At its height, residents lined the sidewalks nervously watching firefighters work to contain the flames, and some of them could be seen spraying their homes.

South San Francisco Fire Department spokeswoman Heather Enders said in the spring and for the first time in years, city officials cleared the vegetation and set fire breaks on Sign Hill to help contain the fire.

“We have really worked to prepare in time to ensure that lives and homes are protected,” she said. “We knew this was coming.”

Enders noted that Friday weather, which reached 90 degrees with low humidity and dry winds, was particularly ripe for a fire. A red flag warning was in effect across the Bay Area that day.

Not long after the Sign Hill fire was contained, another four-alarm fire broke out on Starlite Street, and it was contained shortly thereafter. Larch Avenue between Kearny Street and Lincoln Street has been evacuated, police said.

The South San Francisco fires occurred less than a month after a four-alarm vegetation fire broke out in Belmont that evacuated around 40 households. This fire was also contained within hours with no injuries and no homes destroyed.

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – On the last afternoon of 2020, people gathered on Thursday afternoon to pay their respects to yet another victim of COVID when the landmark Cliff House, San Francisco’s beloved restaurant, was scrapped.

Earlier this month, the announcement of the final closure on December 31st was posted on the restaurant’s website by longtime owners of the Cliff House, Dan and Mary Hountalas. They said 180 employees would lose their jobs.

The Cliff House, which opened 157 years ago, was a victim of the COVID-19 pandemic and delays the National Park Service in securing a long-term operating contract with the restaurant, according to the owners.

Overlooking Ocean Beach and its sweeping views, the Cliff House has a rich history. Once a bar and brothel in the late 19th century, it survived the 1906 earthquake and fire but burned down a year later. In 1973 Dan and Mary Hountalas took over the restaurant on a long-term lease from the National Park Service.

The Cliff House stopped eating in March due to the pandemic. Operators said they tried to work take away only in early June, but after 10 weeks the owners decided to close completely in mid-July. They said the restaurant lost too much money than just take away.

The last long-term contract between Cliff House and the National Park Service expired in June 2018, and the restaurant has since been operating under a series of short-term contracts, the current one ending on Thursday.

Mary Hountalas said last minute negotiations to renew the lease had failed.

“We got a call at 11 o’clock. “No, it’s a six-month extension and a three-year extension,” said one angry Hountalas. “It’s so tangled!”

She said the restaurant had lost employees, lost a lot of money and now lost the lease. They pack up all of their private property inside and outside the restaurant, including the iconic roof sign.

Diner diners have been visiting the restaurant since the announcement to pay their respects, but the removal of the Cliff House sign on the last day of a painful year apparently offered some closure to the dozen who came to say goodbye.

Several dozen people gathered along Point Lobos Avenue in front of the restaurant around noon on Thursday when workers dismantled the distinctive metal sign from the restaurant’s roof.

The crowd gathered below with their phones raised, capturing the historic final moments when drills loosened the corroded bolts.

Several people yelled, “We love you, Cliff House!” or shouted “Thank you!” when the workers removed the screws that held the last letter of the sign in place. The crowd booed in unison as the large metal “E” was removed.

The Cliff House is not alone. Restaurants across San Francisco and the Bay Area are collapsed and will never reopen due to the mandatory COVID shutdown.

Chef Kevin Weber tried to keep his composure and said the staff were family.

“One of my dishwashers, Rafael, came by yesterday because it had been waiting nine months. He didn’t think it would happen, ”said Weber. “So he finally had to clear his locker. He worked for me for 27 years. “

Employees said goodbye all day.

“I worked until I was eight months pregnant,” said one waitress. Her son Lionel, who was now three years old, held on to her when he said goodbye.

Another receptionist held back tears.

“It’s … heartbreaking. Such a loss for all of us, ”she said with a big sigh.

Owners said their debts could force them to auction the restaurant’s historic items, including the iconic sign.
