Daniela Jonguitud, of South San Francisco, was honored by the South San Francisco City Council last evening, with a Proclamation of Women’s History Month with Vice Mayor Nicolas presenting the accolades. Jonguitud, an immigrant from Mexico, has worked hard to create her business, CHAJINEL Home Care Services. Her industry calls on her 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and she is currently establishing additional facilities in other locations outside of California. A single mom, Jonguitud understands the challenges many women face and the need to dig deep to keep on creating the life she has envisioned.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the community of SSF and our aging community. It is a great honor to be a woman during these times.” Jonguitud tells us

Daniela Jonguitud with Vice Mayor Nicolas

“Being a woman in the 21st century is not an easy task, being a businesswoman, an immigrant, a single mother, is even harder.

Today, I want you to know woman that wherever you are, whatever you are doing, I salute you, and I recognize the importance of your input in our community.

But also today, I want to focus more than in what divide us, in what UNITE us. Females and males need each other to coexist in every level. My wish is that today and during this month, we can focus on finding balance, strength in our differences, and above all, be able to recognize that our growth would not be possible if we were not holding each other.

I want to invite you to just be, without dividing, just be. Because it is your strength woman the one that our community needs, and that can only be found and shared by you. Be strength, be courage, be love, be patience, be resilience, be creation, be wild.

Thank you for the honor of representing women today, thank you to all women and men who have held space for me to become who I am. Thank you to all women and men who have led the way for women like me, to have the opportunities we have nowadays.

Happy women’s history month. “

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Tia, the modern medical home for women, announced today the grand opening of its first Bay Area clinic at Mission & Van Ness in San Francisco. Transforming the historic 1500 Mission building, the flagship Tia Clinic will provide Bay Area women with a first-of-its-kind medical home designed to make every woman feel seen, heard and cared for.

Tia’s “Whole Woman, Whole Life” model includes virtual and in-person services, fusing primary care, mental health, and gynecological care with wellness services like acupuncture and pelvic floor physical therapy in one integrated experience. The new brick-and-mortar clinic represents the first of 10 sites that Tia plans to open in the Bay Area that will serve 40,000 women.

Additionally, united by a shared vision to end fragmentation in women’s healthcare, Tia and UCSF Health plan to develop a new network of clinically integrated clinics together, forming a cornerstone of a Bay Area women’s healthcare network that increases access to high-quality care with an exceptional experience. By connecting Tia’s retail-style clinics with UCSF Health’s specialty and inpatient facilities, the two aim to fill a critical gap in primary care with connected, whole-person care that integrates physical, mental and reproductive health for women and their families.

“Women deserve comprehensive primary care that centers on our experiences — clinically, psychosocially and experientially. Sadly, a ‘one-size-fits-most’ healthcare system leaves 50% of women without a primary care provider — depriving women of essential, preventive care and forcing them instead to bounce from specialist to specialist searching for answers, which drives up costs and worsens outcomes,” said Carolyn Witte, co-founder and CEO of Tia. “Tia wants to change that by working with UCSF to create a women-centered healthcare system that spans outpatient to inpatient with an anchoring on prevention. The UCSF Health team are not only champions and trailblazers of clinically excellent care, but inclusive and equitable healthcare designed to affirm women’s choices. We are honored to collaborate with a health system whose values are uniquely aligned with our own.”

Tia and UCSF Health aim to create a seamless and closely integrated program between the two independent healthcare organizations, which includes:

Shared clinical leadership between UCSF Health & Tia, with UCSF Health medical directors and high-quality specialists working hand-in-hand with Tia medical directors and providers at all clinical locations;

shared clinical protocols and care coordination to ensure consistency between primary and specialty care and seamless baton passes for providers and patients;

Coordinated measurement of and improvement on critical quality metrics that enable UCSF and Tia to work together to improve patient outcomes and women’s healthcare standards across UCSF and Tia locations;

Deep technical integration that enables shared clinical notes, medical records, care coordination, and quality data reporting to drive better outcomes and experience for both patients and providers.

“Women nationwide struggle to find primary care that fully integrates their health care needs throughout their lives,” said Amy Murtha, MD, Professor and Chair of the UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. “UCSF Health is a leader in women’s health and renowned for its integrated specialty care, but we can’t reach every woman in the Bay Area. This collaboration aims to help address that fragmentation by increasing women’s access to primary care services, with seamless access to UCSF’s specialty care when they need it.”

The clinics will provide Tia’s signature “Whole-Woman, Whole Life” care model, rooted in a deep understanding of sex-specific difference, culturally tailored and trauma-informed care. With their shared commitment to diversity, inclusion and health equity, Tia and UCSF Health will work to ensure diverse representation in their patient and provider populations. Tia also will continue to integrate robust training for all clinicians and clinical support staff on racial justice in healthcare and culturally competent care that’s tailored to the lived experience of women of color.

In the Bay Area, more than 40 percent of women have delayed preventive health services during the pandemic, according to a recent survey of 500 women. The study, which was commissioned by Tia, also found that 80 percent of women in the Bay Area say that worry or stress about the pandemic has impacted their mental health.

One of the worst fragmentation points is the transition between primary care and specialty care where breakdowns at critical points in a woman’s care journey can have devastating effects, most notably in maternity care.

Tia, which focuses on prevention and engages women early on, will provide UCSF Health with new outpatient access points that reach more women for its high-quality network of specialty providers and inpatient services, including its award-winning pregnancy, labor and delivery program. The tight clinic integration between the organizations also enables Tia’s Care Coordination team to transition care between the two organizations smoothly.

Tia has grown rapidly over the last year and is on a path to serving 100,000 women nationwide by the end of 2023. UCSF Health is the second major health system collaboration for Tia and follows the company’s expansion in New York, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. Tia also recently closed a $100 million Series B funding round to further expand its footprint in new and existing markets over the next few years.

Tia plans to open its clinically integrated locations with UCSF Health throughout the Bay Area in the coming years. For more details on the Tia Clinic in San Francisco, visit www.asktia.com/location/tia-san-francisco

The history of blue jeans is legendary: after buying denim pants from the San Francisco-based retailer Levi Strauss, a tailor named Jacob Davis was inspired to reinforce them with copper rivets in the most vulnerable areas. The two businessmen secured a patent for the blue jeans concept in 1873, and shortly afterwards the trousers were hugged by miners, cowboys, and other working-class men.

But their popularity with women didn’t come until decades later. Levi Strauss & Co. produced its first line of jeans for women in the 1930s, and now TIME reports that what may be the oldest surviving pair of jeans from that period has been repurchased by the company.

Get to know Viola: Our oldest pair of Levi’s® jeans for women https://t.co/Cl9iKRWs05 pic.twitter.com/2cgVenCx6c

– Essence Manzano (@jeanslifehq) August 29, 2017

The high-waisted jeans, which feature a fabric patch, and a belt instead of a belt, were first spotted at an estate sale by a vintage clothing collector. They originally belonged to a teacher named Viola Longacre, who died in 2014 at the age of 100. During her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Fresno State College (now California State University, Fresno), she wore the pants in the Sierra Mountains, where classes were held in the summer.

The pair were likely made before 1934, the year the Lady Levi’s collection was first released. The fact that the Levi Strauss & Co. patch on the back of the waist is made of fabric instead of leather leads company historian Tracey Panek to believe they were released as part of an experimental batch measuring women’s interest in the product should. Although they were a staple of men’s wardrobe at the time, it wasn’t until World War II that jeans became a familiar sight for women.

After purchasing the item of clothing from the clothing collector, Levi Strauss & Co. named it “Viola” after its original owner. They are next to the oldest known men’s jeans, a pair from 1879, in the company archive.

Pinehurst Resort has Never Neverland quality on long summer days. For the past five years it has been Addie Baggarly’s summer getaway. This time her week started barefoot with a bucket hat on and just a 50 degree wedge to get her around the Cradle, Pinehurst’s new par 3 course.

Baggarly, who has just completed her fourth season on the University of Florida roster, has teamed up with good friend and Tennessee native Siarra Stout in a barefoot one-club par-3 competition for the North & South Women’s To start on the week. Both players used their gap wedge – even for putting – around the cradle and went under 5.

“In the end we went out and won the playoffs,” said Baggarly. “It was great fun, it was so much fun to start the week. We finished in the dark and people’s flashlights were on on the cradle.

“It was definitely – probably the most memorable part of the week.”

Baggarly has been playing this event for five years, hitting the last 16. She sent Minnesota player Grace Curran in the opening round of match play on Thursday and faces Duke Junior Gina Kim in the next round. Baggarly called it an unfortunate draw so early in the week. She and Kim played together on a Palmer Cup team and spent a week at the Olympic Club in San Francisco last month after they both qualified for the US Women’s Open.

Kim was part of a playoff for last place in the North and South Rounds Tuesday night, and Baggarly offered her encouragement.

“I kind of drove by and gave her a little wave and she said seeing you in the cart makes my day,” she said.

Rating: North & South women amateur

Baggarly’s week at the Women’s Open brought home a realization she first had this spring at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. She had wondered if she wanted to become a professional and try to make a living from golf.

“My feelings there only corroborated the fact that I don’t think professional life is really for me,” she said. “I like to enjoy the sport because it should be played for fun.”

The story goes on

Emilia Migliaccio, runner-up at ANWA and former top 3 amateur in the world, recently started a career as a golf journalist as an intern at Golf Channel and has been a key part of this nontraditional journey. Baggarly also consulted with Tennessee colleague Sarah Ingram, a three-time U.S. women’s mid-am champion and current Curtis Cup captain, and spoke to Lauren Greenlief, a former Virginia player who never turned pro and who was in 2015 in Pinehurst Won US Mid-Am World Cup 2015. Amateur and continues to be extremely competitive in the amateur field at the age of 39.

That fits with Baggarly’s vision of what her future golf life could be like.

“(Greenlief) had a lot of great words to say on the competitive side and still had a career and the balance it needed,” said Baggarly. “She said it was possible because she did and I admire that.”

Baggarly has another semester of classes in Florida to graduate in telecommunications. The story of Gator runs deep in Baggarly’s veins. She was born in Gainesville, Florida and her family history is closely tied to the university. Her great-grandfather helped found the building construction school and her father, Mark Baggarly, was part of the men’s national golf team in 1993.

However, from January Baggarly will go to Baylor. With one year remaining, she will play the spring season for the bears as she embarks on an 18-month Masters course in physical education. That would push her into college coaching later.

“I am forever grateful for the opportunity that (Florida) has given me over the past four years,” she said. “At Baylor I came up with something really nice and I can do my master’s degree.”

Baggarly has a deeply rooted affection for amateur golf and no future coaching job would change that. This week is a sweet reminder of everything she loves about competition.

“This is my week of escape – I’m here to play golf, but I have so much fun other areas too,” said Baggarly. “The people here are great, everyone is so welcoming. It is definitely my favorite week of the year. “

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Joe Biden argued Wednesday that the pay gap between men and women had hurt the economy and brought members of the U.S. women’s national soccer team to the White House to set new goals for equality.

On Wednesday there was “Equal Pay Day” – that is how long women have to work on average in order to compensate for the difference in wages between what men and women earned in the previous year. The Census Bureau estimates that a full-time woman would make about 82 cents for every dollar paid to a man.

Biden and his wife Jill hosted a round table with Margaret Purce and Megan Rapinoe of the US women’s national soccer team and other members of the squad who participated virtually. The president then signed a proclamation in honor of the day.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re an electrician, an accountant or part of the best football team in the world,” said Biden. “The pay gap is real. And this team is living proof that you can be the best at what you do and still have to fight for equal pay. “

The women’s team has won the World Cup four times, most recently in 2019. In the same year, however, they sued the US Football Association for wage discrimination. The lawsuit was dismissed in May because the women had accepted a different basic pay structure than the men’s soccer team. The women’s team wants to appeal against the dismissal.

“Despite these victories. I was devalued, I was not respected and I was fired because I am a woman, ”Rapinoe said on Wednesday with the President. “And I was told that I deserve nothing more than less because I am a woman.”

The wage gap affects the entire economy in ways that exacerbate other problems, including racial inequality. The National Women’s Law Center found that black women only make 63 cents for a dollar paid to a non-Hispanic white male, while Hispanic women make only 55 cents. This difference translates into a loss of income of approximately $ 1 million over the course of a lifetime.

“These are not just women’s issues,” said Cecilia Rouse, Chair of the White House Economic Advisory Council, at the press conference on Wednesday. “They affect all families, the recoverability of our economy and the competitiveness of our nation.”

The Biden government is pushing for several directives to narrow the gap. It supports the Paycheck Fairness Protection Act, which would improve a 1963 law by improving employer transparency on wages, require employers to demonstrate that all discrepancies are due to professional qualifications, and prevent employers from opposing employees, express concerns about the wage gap.

The administration also supports paid family leave and better access to childcare. A February research paper by the San Francisco Federal Reserve found that the pandemic caused mothers to drop out of the labor market disproportionately as many were lacking school and childcare facilities in class. The paper found that a flexible work schedule would likely make life easier for mothers with jobs.
