Jack Dorsey put down his roots in San Francisco long ago and his most recent purchase was a stunning house in the Sea Cliff neighborhood.
When he was a teenager, Jack Dorsey began developing websites and first ventured into creating software for taxicab organizations. After finishing college in New York in 2000, he moved to San Francisco to develop a text and instant messaging platform with his friends. He posted the first Twitter message that became an essential pillar in revolutionizing social media six years later. Dorsey served as the CEO of Twitter until 2008 and helmed the position again in 2015, which helped him amass a $5.6 billion fortune. While the co-founder is relatively private about his life, a few facts are known about his expenses. One of his most significant purchases occurred in late-2018 when he put an offer on the house next door in San Francisco and snagged an estate for $21 million.
Offering a breezy wind and a stunning view of the bay, Jack Dorsey’s San Francisco home is a perfect escape for a relaxed evening after a long day’s work. Let’s look inside his $21 million San Francisco house, a home built for luxury and space.
A Paradise On The Edge Of The Cliff
Jack Dorsey purchased his first property in San Francisco in 2012 in the Sea Cliff neighborhood. As mentioned by Mansion Global, he bought the home for $10 million, and the wood-class estate featured two bedrooms and overlooked the San Francisco Bay. However, the midcentury home was modest in size, and he decided to expand the property by purchasing the home located at an arm’s length. The new house had been vacant for several years and needed a makeover when Dorsey bought it for $21 million. The two-story home was first constructed in 1962 underneath thick foliage on the edge of a cliff.
The estate was purchased for merely $2.85 million by a Thailand-based family who registered it under Hin Land Investment Limited in the 1960s. After keeping it vacant for many years, the family decided to sell it to Dorsey. Dorsey’s new estate spans 0.62 acres of land and has a 3,600 sq. ft. of living space. Like his $10 million home, it is invisible from the streets, offering optimum privacy for the mogul, as stated by The Sun.
Privacy Offered By Nature

The San Francisco home features five luxurious bedrooms and three bathrooms. With the culmination of the two properties, Dorsey now has a 7,300 sq. ft. of living space in a midcentury home with seven bedrooms and a cliffside view. The house is surrounded by ancient trees that offer solitude and a dose of nature’s privacy. The exterior is similar to a traditional mid-century home with Spanish tile roofing, palm trees, and a red brick porch, as reported by Business Insider. The same pattern is followed for homes throughout the neighborhood.
El Camino Del Mar, which means the way or path of the sea, is the perfect phrase to describe the home as it leads directly to San Francisco Bay. While restrictions in the neighborhood did not allow two homesites to be combined since 1912, there were steps taken in 2019 to abolish the rule so Dorsey could take down the lots and create a singular compound on the expansive land.
A Stunning Addition To His Property Portfolio
By mid-2019, the home had already begun working on making electric upgrades, revamping the fireplace, adding two furnaces, and decorating with new interior finishes. A remodel was submitted for the building permit that indicated Dorsey had renovated the three bathrooms, laundry room, and the gas and plumbing in the kitchen. The exclusive neighborhood is known to have a series of Spanish homes with Victorian design, a staple for every luxury property on the estate. According to dirtas the new house was never publicly listed on sale and the deal occurred off the market, there are no concrete photographs available that give a glimpse into the interior of the old and renovated estate.
Along with owning two San Francisco homes, Jack Dorsey also purchased a property in California’s luxurious Hollywood Hills neighborhood. The home was built for Dorsey in 2017 and went on to win the LA Residential Architecture Merit Award from the AIA. However, the mogul did not spend many days at his California pad and preferred to spend his time in San Francisco instead. After purchasing the $21 million home in San Francisco, he listed the LA house on sale, and it was purchased by Amir “Nick” Ekbatani, a UCLA football player, for $4,625 million.
The latest property in Jack Dorsey’s portfolio has helped him make a $21 million purchase, the most expensive in the Sea Cliff neighborhood to date. A compound that now houses two stunning properties that are merged, the co-founder has created a beautiful oasis that offers him luxury and privacy at once.
