Deebo Samuel is ‘Completely Transferring In the direction of’ Changing into 1 of the Greatest Receivers within the NFL In response to a Corridor of Famer Who Is aware of All About Being a Nice Go Catcher

Davante Adams. Stefan Diggs. DeAndre Hopkins. Tyreek hill. These are the names you hear most often when listening to discussions about the NFL’s best wide receivers. However, in the first four games of the 2021 season, a new pass catcher is trying to add his name to the list and at least one Hall of Fame recipient thinks we need to talk about this player as such. It’s San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel.

Deebo Samuel is tearing up secondaries so far in 2021

Deebo Samuel played four seasons for his home college, the University of South Carolina. His 148 catches, 2,076 yards and 16 touchdowns tempted the San Francisco 49ers to win the 6-foot pass catcher with the No. 36 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Samuel stormed the NFL scene as a major threat during his rookie season. All told, he caught 57 balls for 802 yards and scored three air touchdowns and three more on the ground. Injuries hampered his second campaign, but he still managed both a receiving and a rushing TD, while only playing 28% of his team’s snaps last season.

In 2021, Samuel starts incredibly quickly.

In four games, the former Gamecock leads the league in received yards with 490 yards, is fifth in receptions with 28, ninth in touchdowns with four and has the second longest TD catch of the season with 79 yards.

Samuel and Tyreek Hill are the only WRs with multiple games over 150 yards this season. The 49ers pass catcher won 189 in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions and 156 in Divisional Tilt Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Anyone paying attention can clearly see that Deebo Samuel is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL right now, and there is at least one Pro Football Hall of Fame WR who is definitely paying attention.

Michael Irving believes Samuel will become one of the best receivers in the NFL

On Monday, Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame analyst Michael Irvin joined the sports talk radio show Damon, Ratto & Kolsky at 95.7 The Game in San Francisco.

While discussing the current state of the Niners, presenter Damon Bruce Irvin asked about Samuel and said, “Michael, would you like to put Deebo Samuel on this top tier of wide receiver talent now?”

Irvin replied enthusiastically:

I wanted to bring this to you anyway. He is absolutely moving towards that brand. He says in the way he plays, ‘start to include me in these conversations’. And man, he ran a weird route yesterday and snatched the ball out of the air. I can’t tell you what it takes to have the courage to go in, grab it with your hands and still try to climb the field. … He’s an incredibly young player.

Irvin even admitted that when he played, he would catch these types of sloping routes against his body so he could better and more safely absorb the hit if a defender came to lay it down.

If one of the best recipients in the past 30 years has offered this type of praise, it means more people should be paying attention to what Samuel is doing in 2021.

As good as Deebo Samuel has been for the San Francisco 49ers this season, it has only translated into a 2-2 record so far. The team lost their last two games against two of the NFC’s best teams, the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks.

In Week 5, Samuel and the Niners have the Herculean task of ousting the NFL’s only undefeated team and division leader, the Arizona Cardinals.

The difficulty level for the Bay Area team is increased by the fact that the game will likely be rookie Trey Lance’s first NFL start. Reigning starter Jimmy Garoppolo is in question for Sunday with a right calf injury that knocked him out of the Seahawks game last weekend.

The Cardinals defense hasn’t given 100 yards to a receiver this season, so Samuel will take on his job. However, if the 49ers hope to win, the NFL’s leading pass catcher will have to show up on Sunday afternoon and play like a superstar.

It will be a big test for Samuel, but if he passes it will become even more evident that the Deebo Samuel name needs to be mentioned among the first as the best WR in the NFL.
