Disney: 10 Reside-Motion Characters That Want Spinoffs

Disney is often synonymous with the medium of animation, but its work has very often expanded into the realm of live action as well. With characters like Mary Poppins, Herbie the Love Bug, and Captain Jack Sparrow, their live-action creations are just as adorable and adorable as their animated ones.

Despite such a phenomenal collection of live-action characters, there are those among them who shine brighter than others. Some of them are even only supporting and supporting roles. With the onslaught of live-action Disney movies floating around these days, it is time these characters got the attention and respect they deserve.

10 Xianniang / The Witch (Mulan)

There’s one thing the 2020 adaptation of Mulan should have explored more, it’s the witch’s character. Terrifyingly, the greatest fantasy element in the retelling of the legend of the Chinese warrior was only briefly explained in conversation.

A shapeshifter who is banished from her clan and forced into the service of Bori Khan, how was that filmed? Xianniang has a story that needs to be told.

9 The Djinn (Aladdin)

Will Smith Blue Genie Aladdin movie

Will Smith will never replace Robin Williams, but his take on the genius of Aladdin left its mark. Since there are technically 1,000 more Arabian Nights, maybe Smith’s character could return for other adventures?

Who wouldn’t want to see this lovable guy rub with the likes of Ali Baba, Sindbad, and other characters? It would give Disney a chance to do something original with the inspiration, rather than just another remake.

8th Pooh and Friends (Christopher Robin)

Take one thing clear, although Pooh is the more well-known character in Christopher Robin, he essentially played second fiddle to Ewan McGregor on the rest of the Hundred Acre Crew. Would it be so terrible if they got the right live action treatment?

Said CGI there I would need drastic improvements. Despite its lovable nature, not everyone loves the dead, empty, soulless eyes of live-action Pooh Bear. However, with the right script and decisions, it could work.

7th Captain Barbossa (Pirates of the Caribbean)

Captain Jack may be the face of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but Geoffrey Rush was simply born a pirate captain. Whether it’s a prequel, a spin-off, an alternate universe, or whatever, there has to be a way to get it back.

Even if it’s just the character of Barbossa, fans of the series would no doubt flock to theaters for more swashbuckling action. And don’t forget to bring the monkey with you.

6th Rocket and Groot (Guardians of the Galaxy)

Rocket and Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

They’re the dynamic duo of the MCU, yet they haven’t had their own solo adventure yet. But why not? The interactions about Rocket and Groot’s relationship would make for the greatest Marvel comedy sense Ant-Man.

Marvel is literally sitting on a comedic goldmine of material, there’s no reason the two of them can’t get started on their own, especially after the upcoming Thor sequel. But honestly, anything about these two would be an uproar.

5 The Mad Hatter (Alice in Wonderland)

If ever there was a character who could take on Captain Jack for Johnny Depp, it’s the Mad Hatter. Alice in Wonderland may have suffered from a terrible script, but that doesn’t mean Tim Burton can’t find another opportunity to redeem himself.

Fans would love to see this character come back to life.

4th Captain Phasma (Star Wars)

Phasma Star Wars

There have been so many Star Wars characters killed way too early and Captain Phasma is the queen. The new trilogy may be over, but there’s room for more Star Wars spinoffs, and this silver nightmare has a story to tell.

The script would undoubtedly have to come from the novel by Delilah S. Dawson, the film that brings Phasma’s origins to life would be a violent and gripping thriller the likes of which the galaxy has never known.

3 C-3PO and R2-D2

Another line of Star Wars supporting characters that deserve more attention are the two lovable droid fans known since the ’70s, C-3PO and R2-D2. Wouldn’t it be great to see them explore the galaxy on their own? After all, what nonsense have they been doing in the company of Princess Leia?

Wouldn’t it be entirely characteristic to see R2 reluctantly scurrying on his heels on a mission with 3PO? There are certainly more than a few shreds to the two droids that could be exposed, and fans would love to see this comedy of flaws.

2 Yellow (The Mandalorian)

The story of Din Djarin and Grogu may be over for now, but a sequel would definitely have to star that little green bundle of joy that is no longer so small. A series with a teenager or even an adult grogu would be an ideal sequel to The Mandalorian.

Grogu would go through his Jedi training, but he might also remember a few things from his time with the bounty hunter. A Jedi using Mandalorian techniques? That would definitely recommend some new viewers.

1 Bert (Mary Poppins)

Dick Van Dyke as Bert in the Disney film

While Mary Poppins may or may not appear, a solo film with the most popular singing chimney sweep of all the leading characters would be an absolute treat. Dick Van Dyke is hard to follow, but with the right casting, script, and musical numbers, it can be.

While it is better than that the nanny’s mysterious origins remain mysterious, Bert could have a very interesting life story. Why does he do so many odd jobs? How did he meet Mary Poppins? All things that could be answered in this film.
