We’re excited to launch the first spotlight for members of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce. Our spotlights will feature Honored Chamber Members across Lake County who exemplify the spirit and community engagement that makes Lake County strong. This month’s spotlight is on Performance Mechanical in Clearlake. Since its inception in 2007, Performance Mechanical has been a trusted supplier of heating and air conditioning systems.
We spoke to owner Phil Harris about his path as community leader, who was elected to Clearlake City Council in 2016, about his dreams and expectations as owner of one of Lake County’s more successful businesses. Phil and his wife, Angie, have spent 25 years together and look forward to spending time with their 2 daughters as they continue to play active roles in many civic activities.
WHY ARE YOU A MEMBER OF THE CHAMBER?
We have a responsibility to the community to support one another. It is important to support not only the Chamber of Commerce but all municipal organizations. By offering support, be it contribution, service, or volunteer time, you will help them grow and serve all in the county. I would love to see more of the 2 chambers working together, as they did when we recently requested a dual tape cut in our new office.
WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT YOUR COMPANY THAT MOST PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW?

Be recognized in your community. Be perceived and seen as a company that is committed and works to be the best. Never give up on achieving a 100% satisfaction rating with your customers. We are very proud of our reviews on social media sites. Not just the reviews themselves, but everyone who took the time to review our service means a lot to me and my team. I would like to add that I welcome all start-ups to contact me and I will offer advice, guidance and encouragement as they start their new business.
IF YOU ARE NOT WORKING WHERE IN THE AREA YOU WANT TO SPEND YOUR TIME?
As already mentioned, giving something back is very important to me. I enjoy being an active member of the Clearlake community, but if you ask me where I enjoy spending my time outside of work, it’s with my family. In building a successful business, it’s important to remember that your family must come first.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE OF YOUR COMPANY?
Interesting question because we are starting something we haven’t done in the past few years. We have started taking on projects in remote areas. Our focus has always been and will be on Lake County, but opening up to projects outside of the county is new and exciting to us as we continue to grow. We’re also working on some new licenses and certifications that will allow us to expand into other areas. I’m excited to see where Performance Mechanical is going.
DO YOU HAVE UPCOMING EVENTS OR SHARE OTHER INFORMATION WITH THE COMMUNITY?
I look forward to being part of the St. Judes Research Radiothon on March 14th and 15th on local country stations; 105.9 KQPM and 107.1 KUKI. Wonderful organization that does a great job for children in need. Of course you will also see me and the team around the district how we support and support it.
