Mom and daughter tea team
Linda and Kristine Reiners received unanimous planning commission approval July 12 to open Casablanca Teas at 155 N. Santa Cruz Ave. The tea shop replaces a retail storefront that’s been empty for nine months.
The mother-daughter team plan to import teas from around the world and offer a tea-tasting bar, as well as small sandwiches and pastries to complement their tea service.
Presidential election report is online
The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters has released its analysis of the 2016 presidential election, showing that more than 724,000 county residents voted, 534,000 of them by mail.
County-wide, Hillary Clinton received more than 511,000 votes compared to Donald Trump’s 145,000-plus figure.
“This presidential election broke many records, including the most ever ballots cast by Santa Clara County voters,” registrar of voters Shannon Bushey said. “It is my hope that this report ensures transparency in the voting process and provides voters with a deeper understanding of how their votes are tallied and how national discussions of voting patterns and election security have played out in Santa Clara County.”
The report is at sccvote.org. Click on the resources page and then “statistics.”
