House caregivers acknowledged for his or her service

PEORIA (25News Now) – April 30 is officially a day of appreciation for those who provide in-home services to families looking for support.

After the Illinois County Board made the official declaration, the Children’s Home Association of Illinois held a breakfast to appreciate everything home visitors do for the community. A home visitor is essentially in the social work field, and their job is to visit families at home to offer parents resources to make sure their children’s needs are met.

Anni Reinking, the Vice President of Prevention Services of the Children’s Home Association of Illinois, says the work they do deserves recognition.

“They do really the groundwork in our community, and they are really helping to keep families out of the DCFS system or other things, and they go unnoticed,” Reinking said. “To be able to have a whole breakfast for them is something that is really beneficial and shows our appreciation.”

The Children’s Home in Peoria has 17 home caregivers who offer resources to families in Tazewell and Peoria Counties.
