James Barry Obituary –

James W. Barry 91, died April 27th peacefully, at home, holding hands with the love of his life, just as he did everyday for the past 67 years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosaleen O’Hare Barry; one brother Thomas N.Y.; 4 children: James (Vikki) of Fallon, Nevada; David (Elizabeth) of Grand Junction, Colorado; Thomas of Los Gatos, California; Eileen (Fran) of New York; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Jim grew up in Watervliet, N.Y. the son of Marie and James Barry, and he was one of 3 brothers. He served in WWII where he earned a bronze star for meritorious service. He worked for Tougher Heating & Plumbing as a steamfitter for 23 years, before moving to San Jose in 1968. There, he worked for San Jose State until retiring in 1979. Jim was a communicant of Transfiguration Church, and was an active member of the Legion of Mary from the 1950’s until the present time. Anyone who knew Jim, knew of his love for the Catholic Church, his passion for serving others, especially those in need, and his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Jim loved working in his yard, playing golf with his buddies, spending time at the beach, and playing his violin. Jim was well loved and had many friends. Jim’s life will be celebrated at a memorial mass at Transfiguration Church on Jarvis Avenue in San Jose, on Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30 pm. Please join the family at the reception in the parish hall, following the mass.
