Chimney Sweep

James Jarboe Obituary (1960 – 2021) – San Francisco, CA

James “Jim” Jarboe

Born May 23, 1960, the fifth child of John and Dorothy Jarboe in Louisville, KY, died March 29, 2021 in San Francisco, CA. He was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Margaret Ping.

Although the family moved often during Jim's childhood, they eventually settled in LaGrange, Illinois, where Jim graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1978. After high school, Jim moved around a bit and eventually settled in Northern California, where he spent the rest of his life.

Jim was a jack of all trades, working as a chimney sweep in Illinois, a cook on a fishing boat off Washington, a tree trimmer in Northern California, and most recently as an employee of the Lower Polk Community Benefit District in San Francisco, California. He was a musician, an animal lover, and a friend to all. May he rest in peace.

The family will hold a private memorial service for Jim and asks that if you have a donation, please consider it to your local homeless shelter or to All Saints' Episcopal Church in San Francisco.
