John Berg
John was born in Shelton, WA, on Nov. 20, 1936, and died on Dec. 8, 2006. Proceeded in death by his parents, Margaret Donahue Berg and Clarence Berg. He is survived by his wife Diana, his brother Joe, his children Margaret Rowe (Gus), Mike Berg (Barbara), Jennifer Hatfield (Brent), Lisa Crimi (Ralph) and Sean Hubbard. Grandchildren, Sausha Rowe, Christine Berg, Jennifer, Joshua Rowe, Travis, Conner, Austin Hatfield, Emily, Madelynn Crimi, nephews Joe and John Berg. John spent his first 14 years in and around Port Angeles, WA, where the Donahue family had a large logging operation. In 1948 his parents moved the family to Los Gatos where they opened Berg’s Antiques. John graduated from Bellarmine College Prep in 1955. He returned to Washington to run his aunt’s cement plant on Bainbridge Island. When he returned to Los Gatos he entered the plumbers and Steam fitters union local 393 and began a 40 year career in commercial plumbing in the Santa Clara Valley. Later in his career he specialized in hazardous waste handling and disposal. He always had a thirst for knowledge and was self taught. His chemical research expanded into medications and chemicals in the food supply. Continuously educating his family on these issues. He was passionate about issues concerning the most vulnerable of society, mainly the homeless, the mentally ill and youth criminal justice.John was sought out by many for both professional and personal advice. He was known for his compassion and wisdom. He was loved by many. His family was his greatest joy in life.Rosary service to be held on Thur., Dec. 14 at DARLING FISCHER, 615 N. Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos. Funeral mass Fri., Dec. 15, 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Los Gatos. Interment to follow at Los Gatos Cemetary. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Bellarmine Financial and Endowment in John’s name.
