John Ransom Obituary (2021) – San Jose, CA
In Loving Memory
John David Ransom
March 19, 1944 – Jan. 19, 2021
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father and friend, John Ransom. John was born in SF to Laura and Roy E. Ransom, where he grew up with his two brothers Roy A. and Jack. All predeceased. John was a plumber with Hellwig Plumbing until retirement. The company was like family to us. John enjoyed coaching both his sons in Little League and Soccer. He loved to travel. His interest in classic cars was topped off with the purchase of his 1964 Impala SS in 2014. John enjoyed being a member and friend of the Rod & Wheelers Car Club and the Car Guys of Los Gatos. The car events were very special to him. He loved meeting with his coffee shop buddies.
John was diagnosed on his 71st birthday in 2015 with stage 4 lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain and lymph nodes. Prognosis, too advanced for surgery and treatment was not recommended. John began his courageous fight. He went to treatment faithfully every two weeks and endured many setbacks, but never complained or gave up until his battle was over January 19th.
Survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Ruth, son Brian, many very close in-laws the Wards, nieces, nephews and very good friends. Predeceased by his loving son, Robert (2018) and many other dear relatives. A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to restrictions.
