Laurene Powell Jobs Buys Report-Breaking San Francisco Residence for $70 Million
The most expensive home ever sold in San Francisco just traded hands for about $70 million—smashing the coastal city’s previous record of $43.5 million. Laurene Powell Jobs, businesswoman and widow of Apple cofounder Steve Jobs, was the buyer of the three-story dwelling, per Mansion Global. The home is located near historic Presidio Park in the coveted neighborhood of Pacific Heights, California.
Despite its eight-figure price tag, Powell Jobs reportedly secured a deal on the property: according to Mansion Global, the sellers—billionaire heiress Sloan Lindemann Barnett and her husband, Roger Barnett, CEO of the nutrition company Shaklee—originally wanted more than $100 million for the estate. In 2011, the couple spent $33 million on the house, which dates back to 1916. Publicly known details about the abode are sparse as the transaction happened off-market, but we do know that it spanned nearly 17,300 square feet and had seven bathrooms when it was scooped up by the Barnetts, who are said to have made thorough renovations to the place during their 13-year residency.
