The city is currently in the process of capital improvements valued at 152 million and a new Livermorium Plaza with a 5-foot diameter granite water polo fountain that pays tribute to the man-made transuranic atomic element made in 2000 by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Russian scientists would.

Also underway is the widening of Vasco Road, adding a second lane north of Garaventa Ranch Road, north through the Dalton Avenue intersection, to improve traffic flow and make the route safer for cyclists.

Last autumn, the city council elected 19 members of the community to the general plan advisory committee. This committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month and at other times as required during the master plan update. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings.
