Michelin-Starred Lord Stanley Transforms Into Pop-Up Area That includes Visiting Cooks – CBS San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – The Michelin-starred Lord Stanley restaurant in Russian Hill looks no different from the outside, but a whole new operation is underway inside.

Turntable debuted at Lord Stanley with well-known and aspiring guest chefs from around the world. The wines will also reflect a specific region.

First and foremost is head chef Micaela Najmanovich, owner of Anafe in Buenos Aires.

She said her food reflects her Jewish heritage and time spent in places like Australia and Vietnam.

“It’s huge for us, actually because of the pandemic, that we can cook outside of Argentina, and besides – Argentina we don’t have Michelin Stars,” she said. “For us, the opportunity to show our food in a restaurant with this kind of service and cuisine is huge.”

Guests can choose between a multi-course menu indoors or more casual options at the to-go window.

“Everyone made changes and spun around during the pandemic. We’ve all done a little bit of everything to just keep going and moving forward, ”said Lord Stanley cook and owner Carrie Blease. “I think it just got us thinking about what people are looking for in a dining experience and how to keep things fresh.”

Blease said she and her husband Rupert loved traveling for pop-ups before the pandemic. Turntable is your opportunity to accommodate other chefs and attract new and returning diners.

Rachel Forisha, who lives in San Francisco, has eaten at Lord Stanley before and is now back for Turntable.

“I know that Michelin-star restaurants tend to change the menu anyway, but these will be completely different countries and focuses,” she said. “It’s just going to be very appealing – it’s attractive to people who like to try new things.”

Turntable also helps guest chefs with lodging, flights, and taking them to local farmers markets.
