Napa Carpet Cleaning – 4 Important Things You Should Know

If you understand the basics of Napa carpet cleaning, your carpet will survive much longer than you imagine. In addition, you’ll save money over time because you won’t have to buy a new one every year. So, to treat this frequent item in your home, we’ve compiled a list of easy carpet cleaning guidelines.

4 Napa Carpet Care Tips

These four Napa carpet cleaning tips will make your life easier. An efficient rug cleaning helps extend the life of the carpet. At the same time, it helps keep it looking new for a longer amount of time. Moreover, maintaining your carpet lowers home allergens and dust, beneficial to your health.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #1: Use the Vacuum Correctly

The most effective technique for extending the life of your carpet and avoiding the expensive cost of replacement is regularly cleaning it. You need to vacuum it at least twice a week. However, to get the best results, you need to set the vacuum height correctly. Not sure how? Ask our professional carpet cleaners in Napa.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #2: Buy the Right Carpet Pad

The correct pad will help your carpet live longer, while the incorrect pad will cut your carpet’s life in half. The quality of a carpet pad depends on its density, not its thickness. A good pad should have a thickness of about 12 to 38 inches and a density or weight rating of at least 6 pounds. It is for residential standards. A low-density pad is only suitable for a few years before it can be replaced. Get a thinner pad with an 8-pound density for high-traffic locations, or even more.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #3: Hide Carpet Runs

If you have a running snag on a carpet with woven loops, don’t worry. You can do a faultless repair that no one but you will notice. All you’ll need are scissors, a small screwdriver, tape, and carpet adhesive. These items are all readily available at most hardware stores.

Gently tug the loose carpet runs to find the point where it is still securely attached to the backing. Then, snip it off as close to the backing as possible. To protect the surrounding carpet, tape a bead of carpet adhesive into the run. Then, with a screwdriver, press each “scab” (a place where pieces of backing stick to the yarn) into the glue.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #4: Clean Up Pet Accidents

If your pet urinated or pooped on the carpet, clean it immediately. Urine can damage carpet fibers and even change their color. In addition, it can seep into the carpet through printed patterns. To absorb the pee, use white paper towels. After that, combine a cup of lukewarm water and a quarter teaspoon of dishwashing liquid in a small mixing bowl. Use a different detergent than the one you use in your dishwasher.

Then, apply the soapy mixture. Soak the area thoroughly with paper towels. Next, blot the area with dry paper towels and continue the wet-and-dry process at least one more. Wipe the carpet once more after rinsing off the detergent with clean water.

Finally, use a mix of one part white vinegar to two parts water to wipe the carpet. Cover the damp spot with a thick stack of books and 20 layers of paper towels. Replace the towels as needed until they are no longer absorbent.
