New York and San Francisco are Damage by Dwelling Workplace Craze

For a decade, Americans have endured rising rents in cities with the best jobs. Some hoped the post-pandemic era would reverse this trend as people moved to the suburbs and worked from home. In fact, teleworking is more likely to exacerbate rather than alleviate the rental problem due to the demand for larger houses.

The pandemic was an economic disaster, but it offered a glimmer of hope for city dwellers who were being driven by sky-high rents. If only some of these high-quality workers could be persuaded to leave downtown, it was thought that places like San Francisco would become affordable to the masses again. And the pandemic trend towards home office seemed like one way to achieve that. American workers have become accustomed to the remote working lifestyle and also bring many productivity benefits with them.
