Patricia Springbett Obituary – Los Gatos, CA (1935-2015)

Patricia Ann Springbett June 29, 1935 – December 1, 2015 Resident of Los Gatos Patricia Ann Springbett passed away peacefully on December 1, 2015, following a brief and sudden illness, at her home in Los Gatos, surrounded by her family. Pat, as she was affectionately known to her many friends, was born in Vancouver, British Columbia to George and Kathleen Trick. She attended Kitsalano High School where she met her future husband, Bruce Springbett. Following high school, Bruce journeyed “south of the border” to the University of Oregon while Pat attended the University of British Columbia, majoring in Home Economics. Reunited following graduation, Pat and Bruce were married in 1957 and moved to San Francisco, CA where Bruce attended dental school. In 1959, they moved to Los Gatos, where Bruce established his dental practice, and have been active members of the community ever since. Happily, Pat was healthy and active up until the last few weeks of her life finding joy in traveling and sharing time, memories, great food, drink and laughter with her family, friends and neighbors. Throughout her life, Pat was best known and admired for her gift of “telling it like it is” as well as her loving nature and incredible and plentiful friendships.
A loving and dedicated mother, Pat chose to work out of the home for most of her career in order to spend time with her children. She was a talented seamstress who established her own business making handmade Christmas items that were eventually sold through a number of high end retailers, including I. Magnin’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. Once her children were grown, Pat began her second career as a buyer/manager for Chrislow’s, a popular local department store in Los Gatos. She was active in the Montalvo Service Organization, Lions Club, Eastfield Ming Quong and, of course, always supported her children in their many school and sports activities. Retirement brought travel, weekly bridge get togethers, and needlepoint. Pat was an avid “foodie” and a seriously accomplished baker (we will all miss her incredible butter tarts), a beloved Bay Area Sports fan, and the best of friends to and all of those who knew and loved her.
Pat is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Bruce Springbett; her sister-in-law, Lynn Seymour of England; her loving children, Jodi Campion (Mark) of Burlingame, Brent Springbett (Christine) of Truckee, and Craig Springbett (Heidi) of Santa Cruz; her adoring grandchildren, Jack Campion, and Cheyne and Courtney Springbett; and finally, her beloved dog, Ralph.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at CB Hannegan’s, 208 Bachman Avenue, Los Gatos on Sunday December 20th at 1:00 PM.
