LOS GATOS — San Jose police descended on a group of Los Gatos businesses as part of a cold case homicide investigation, kicking off what appeared to be an excavation in a parking lot.
The work on Tuesday was centered on the 100 block of North Santa Cruz Avenue, which includes Gardino’s Ristorante Italiano, the Los Gatos Theatre and other popular hangouts.

Investigators had set up a tent near a pile of dirt that seemed to have been dug up, according to this organization’s media partner ABC7.
Sgt. Enrique Garcia confirmed that the department is conducting follow-up work related to a cold case, but declined to answer more questions, citing the active investigation.
