Firefighters tackle a rapidly growing vegetation fire on Silicon Valley Road and Basking Ridge in the San Jose area.
Driven by the wind, the flame – also known as the silicon fire – grows quickly.
Cal Fire’s Santa Clara unit originally reported on social media that just before noon on Monday the fire covered 2 acres, with a “dangerous rate of spread and a threat from a structure”.
Ten minutes later, the account reported that it had grown to 20 acres. Units are still making their way to the fire, and Cal Fire air tankers and helicopters are on their way.
