Ramey’s shifting day 61 propels him to top-15 end | Itawamba Occasions

Fulton’s Chad Ramey (IAHS / MSU) finished the weekend by a narrow margin at the Rex Hospital Open on the Korn Ferry Tour and ended the week in a tie in 12th place at the tournament in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Ramey opened the tournament on Thursday with a solid 3 under par 68, but after shooting one under par on Friday, Ramey’s 4 Under had the cutline closely watched as the day’s final results hit the cut line.

Ramey scored ten birdies without bogeys on Saturday en route to a 10 under par 61 that catapulted him into the top 10 before the final round on Sunday.

A one-under-par 70 on Sunday gave Ramey a 4-day stroke total of 269, or 15-under-par, to get in the top 15 with a tie for 12th.

The finish put Ramey in ninth place on the 25th rankings. The top 25 points earners on the Korn Ferry Tour traditionally receive a PGA Tour Card at the end of the season. This year is going to be a little different. As the 2020 and 2021 seasons will merge due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 25 tickets will be awarded after the Pinnacle Bank Championship in August and another 25 tickets at the end of the season after the Korn Ferry Tour Finals.

While Ramey was playing on the east coast last week, Ally Ewing was playing in the west at the biggest women’s golf tournament.

After winning last week in Las Vegas, Ewing (IAHS / MSU) played at the US Women’s Open. The 76th edition of the tournament was played at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, California.

Ewing made the cut after shooting 71 and 74 on Thursday and Friday, but battled for 41st place over the weekend with consecutive 75s on Saturday and Sunday.
