San Francisco 49ers schedule 2024: Residence and street opponents and extra on season forward

The NFL will release the 2024 schedules for all 32 teams at 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday. Here is what we know about the San Francisco 49ers’ schedule so far.
The 49ers will open the season on “Monday Night Football” against the New York Jets on Sept. 9 at 5:20 p.m. PT. The 49ers will play each team from the AFC East and NFC North, as well as the first-place teams from the AFC West, NFC East and NFC South. San Francisco will also see its NFC West division rivals twice, once on the road and once at Levi’s Stadium, as part of its 17-game schedule — nine of which are at home.
Here is the lineup of home and road opponents, listed alphabetically.

The 49ers went 12-5 in 2023 and reached the Super Bowl for the second time in five seasons. In seven seasons under coach Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers have made the playoffs four times and gone 2-1 — reaching at least the NFC Championship Game — every time. Still, the franchise’s sixth Super Bowl title has eluded it. As quarterback Brock Purdy enters his third NFL season — and the last one before he’s eligible for what figures to be a massive contract extension — the time to capitalize on the title-contending window would appear to be now.

Week 1 keys to victory
The 49ers will try to establish their running game against one of the most talented defensive lines in the league and one that includes a pair of former 49ers, Javon Kinlaw and Solomon Thomas. Kinlaw’s run defense was spotty during his four years in San Francisco, but he was on an upward trajectory during his final and healthiest season last year.
Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers and the Jets’ top receiver trio — projected to be Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams and rookie Malachi Corley — ought to be a nice test for the 49ers, who likely will have a new No. 3 cornerback this season. Second-round pick Renardo Green and newcomer Isaac Yiadom are perhaps the top two candidates for that role. The elusive Wilson and the hard-running Corley will be a big challenge to whoever is playing the nickel role.
Come back Wednesday night for the 49ers’ week-to-week schedule for 2024, plus season analysis and predictions.
