San Francisco Giants first to debut particular Pleasure uniforms
The San Francisco Giants will unveil special uniforms this week in honor of the LGBTQ + community, the team announced on Tuesday, the first day of Pride Month.
The move makes the Giants the first team in Major League Baseball to incorporate the 11 Pride colors into a jersey on the field.
“We take great pride in serving the LGBTQ + community as we launch one of the best annual celebrations in San Francisco by recognizing the countless accomplishments and contributions of those who identify as LGBTQ + and are allies of the LGBTQ + community.” President and CEO Larry Baer said in a statement.
The team’s jerseys will feature the Giants logo in the Pride colors on the sleeves and hat, starting with the game against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday at Oracle Park – the third of their four game series with the Cubs.
The custom uniforms are similar to those of the Giants’ High-A daughter in 2019, making them the first MiLB team to wear Pride-themed uniforms.
