San Francisco Giants followers have a good time return to ‘normalcy’ at Oracle Park residence opener
It was a long wait, but the San Francisco Giants worshipers dressed in their orange and black again on Friday April 9th and headed to Oracle Park to support and celebrate the city’s baseball team. The home opening series against the Colorado Rockies is the first time since 2019 that fans have been able to personally support the Giants after playing in a nearly empty stadium for the entire 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Thanks to San Francisco in California’s orange category, the Giants were able to accommodate around 8,900 fans, or 22 percent of the seats in Oracle Park. Fans had to show either proof of a COVID-19 vaccine or a recent negative coronavirus test to enter the stadium and the lines into the stadium appeared to be moving smoothly and efficiently.
Despite the restrictions, there was a feeling of exuberance among the Giants fans arriving at the stadium. And in the end, the Giants scored a big win too: a 3-1 win over the Rockies, aided by a solid pitching performance from Johnny Cueto and a two-RBI attempt by shortstop Brandon Crawford. After Friday, San Francisco is 4-3 in the season. The home games are scheduled until Wednesday April 14th.
