San Francisco Will Totally Reopen on June 15

TThe news we’ve all been waiting for has finally officially fallen: San Francisco – the city lauded for handling the Covid-19 pandemic – will fully reopen next week and is fully in line with California’s reopening plans.
Suffice it to say that businesses and the public were thrilled when Mayor Breed broke the news late Tuesday night; Both the breed and the deputy health officer Dr. Susan Philip confirmed that the city would indeed return to normal business operations on June 15 during a webinar.
So what does that mean?
BasicallyHaThe restrictions – mask requirements and social distancing, capacity limits and the allotted time that can be spent in some stores – will all fall by the wayside. (We’ll assume nightclubs will be able to reopen without any problems, but that’s still open.) Get ready to wait in food lines with no ocean of space between you and other buyers; large events like Outside Lands can now be held mask-free if they happen later this year.

All of that said: You will still need a mask on public transport due to a federal restriction that is unlikely to be lifted before Sept. 3.
“We’re finally moving back to some level of normalcy,” Breed reportedly told Eater SF during Tuesday’s webinar. “Let me tell you that. It’s going to be a big change. The city comes to life, but not everyone moves at the same pace … So let’s remember that the last year has been tough for everyone. So have a little patience and a little grace. If you see someone wearing a mask and the rules say they don’t need to, just leave them alone. It is nobody’s business if they want to wear their mask. Maybe they feel so good. “
Breed has emphasized that San Franciscans should be “kind and patient” with one another as we all move in a world that is not just defined by the pandemic.
(Unfortunately, Dolores will still have the finger-waving mask wearers; ignore them. As we move toward a broader sense of normalcy, the assholes will remain – if not now an ounce of your time involved.)
