San Jose Sideshow Exercise Intensifies as Police Crack Down; Native Residents ‘Scared, Nervous’ – CBS San Francisco

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – In the last few months, sideshow activity has gotten bolder as people shoot guns in the air – and move from the outskirts to the heart of downtown San Jose.

“Scared, nervous, just because of my vehicle parked downstairs,” says Danielle Garello, bartender at 4th Street Pizza Company. “You can hear super loud cars, they sound like motorcycles, but there are also the lights. People have their lights on and they just go around and around and you think that helps get them on the way, but it just keeps going. “

Garello lives and works near the town hall and said the sideshow activities usually start around midnight and can last until 4 a.m.

“I’m also concerned about the girls walking to and from the dormitories. I don’t go to school here, but I serve a lot of them in this facility so it’s just a worry. “

Houdini’s Smoke Shop is a few doors down on East Santa Clara Street. Workers have recently seen sideshow right outside their business.

“Whenever the road is closed to something, it really has an impact on our business. Most of the time the sideshows are also late at night, around the bar and club scene, so a lot of these people get stuck in traffic and you only get drunk with people with noisy people in the same area. It’s not a good mix, ”said Essa Tokhi from San Jose.

Owner Naz Barak said in the past month and a half that he witnessed two sideshow.

“Another was correct when you arrived at Exit 280 on 4th Street. And I was doing it for at least 20 minutes, ”he said.

On Saturday, San Jose police tweeted that officers were responding Friday night to a sideshow in the parking lot on Capitol Expressway and Tully Road.
