A new tool published by our partners the San Francisco Chronicle lets you see how much it costs to insure California homes each year by ZIP code. The map interactive is powered by Department of Insurance filings from the top 10 home insurers who raised their rates in 2023 or 2024. The costs are organized by average which means that some customers paid more than others in the ZIP code. See below to explore the map. The data is estimated to cover about 56% of policies in the state. It does not cover policies through California’s FAIR plan.
