It’s going to be a very busy weekend in San Francisco, as are multiple events planned to mark the start of the Lunar New Year, The Brooklyn Nets face the Warriors at Chase Center and people going to nearest bars to watch the NFC Championship Game between the 49ers and Rams.

But as crowds are expected to gather, The city’s health department is urging everyone to keep their guard up as they said the omicron isn’t gone yet.

At Harry’s Bar, they’re ready for the big 49ers game on Sunday and the crowd that comes with it.

They’re holding some walk up space for regulars and setting up tv’s both inside and outside to give fans safe space.

“We’re going to be expanding our outdoor seating area i rented 40 additional chairs from a local party rental so we’re going to seat as many people as we can outside,” Charles Johnson said.

They upgraded the HVAC system a while back. They’re also following city mandates on masking and vaccinations.

“We do continue to sanitize everything we do make our own sanitizer we do sanitize the table and menus and everything between seating,” Johnson said. dr Mary Mercer, medical co-lead for COVID Task Force at the San Francisco Department of Public Health told NBC Bay Area that people will still need to be careful how we come together.

“San Francisco is now on the downslope of the omicron surge cases are still quite high though so its very important for us to layer up our many layers of protections,” she said.

That includes masks like an N95 or KN95, isolating and testing if you have symptoms – and they want to remind everyone that outdoor gatherings are safer than indoors.

Meanwhile, as excitement builds for the return of the Lunar New Year parade, organizers are cautiously optimistic and have protocols in place, for the crowd they hope will return as well.

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Carbon Health, a leading omnichannel healthcare provider, announced three new major COVID-19 testing sites in South San Francisco, California, as well as in Montgomery Township, NJ and Plainsboro Township, NJ. These community-based websites offer thousands of COVID-19 tests in areas that are seeing an increase in COVID-19 positivity rates due to the Omicron variant, at no additional cost.

Throughout the pandemic, Carbon Health has been at the forefront of patient care, partnering with cities across the country on public testing initiatives, including conducting more than 2.1 million COVID-19 tests and nearly 1.5 million vaccines. During December 2021 and January 2022, Carbon Health conducted nearly 4,000 tests per day and provided vital COVID-19 care at 100 clinics and through virtual appointments nationwide. For patients who test positive, Carbon Health offers its proprietary COVID Positive Care program, which provides access to comprehensive emergency and virtual care assessment, state-of-the-art clinical protocols, symptom trackers, device monitoring, and therapeutic modalities including symptom management and monoclonal antibody therapy.

Carbon Health works closely with public partners such as Montgomery Township and Plainsboro Township, New Jersey, and the City of South San Francisco, California to understand their unique needs to create a rapid and community-focused pandemic response. During the recent COVID-19 omicron surge, New Jersey communities have struggled to obtain rapid home tests by going to overcrowded emergency clinics and emergency rooms or receiving delayed PCR test results.

“Due to the incredible post-holiday demand for COVID-19 testing, we were looking for a reliable partner to host COVID-19 testing clinics, and Carbon Health more than delivered,” said Devangi Patel, health officer for Montgomery Township Health Department. Carbon Health was able to mobilize its resources at short notice and expand its capacity to run clinics in a matter of days. They took the time to understand our agency and our needs, and helped us provide a much-needed resource to our community around town.”

“We are at a critical juncture in the fight against the pandemic where the Omicron variant is spreading rapidly and is highly transmissible,” said Dr. Chirag Patel, Regional Clinical Director at Carbon Health. “At our nine clinics in central New Jersey, 30% of COVID-19 tests are currently positive, up from 8% in early December. Each test helps our community make more informed decisions to get kids back to school, keep businesses running, and end the surge.”

“Carbon Health is uniquely positioned to help with our expertise and experience across a variety of areas, including rapidly mobilizing healthcare teams to set up large-scale testing sites, partnering with local community governments, and our ability to flexibly scale down and scale up at these Efforts to succeed are based on local needs,” said Nita Sommers, Chief Growth Officer at Carbon Health.

San Francisco this week quietly opened a large sanctioned parking lot for homeless people and made dozens of Bayview spaces available for those living in RVs and cars.

Despite stiff opposition, including a lawsuit from some neighbors, the Vehicle Triage Center at Candlestick Point State Recreation Area welcomed residents Wednesday, marking the beginning of a two-year program designed to provide vehicle residents with a safe place to park, sleep, and connected to services being.

Ultimately, the site will have 130 parking spaces, but it’s starting at 57 while officials get the program up and running.

The vehicle center is part of an attempt to help the city’s skyrocketing population living in RVs and cars — a pressing problem in the southeastern part of San Francisco, which has by far the largest number of inhabited vehicles in the city.

While many homeless people and their advocates agree that a large licensed parking lot is badly needed, some people the space is intended to serve have resisted moving there from a nearby property on Carroll Avenue. They told The Chronicle on Wednesday they didn’t want to go to the new location because, among other things, it has limited electricity and banned propane tanks and generators.

“That pretty much makes your RV a storage unit,” said BA Anderson, who has lived on the Carroll Avenue property since the city designated it as an emergency parking lot late last year. “No one would say, ‘I’ll rent you this house, but you can’t cook.’ Treat people like people.”

Anderson emailed city officials a list of demands Wednesday, asking for immediate access to electricity, heating, hot and cold running water, mechanic help and more.

He included photos of a few dozen signatures that he said were from people who lived in vehicles and organized themselves into a tenants’ alliance.

Neither the city nor its contractors would allow The Chronicle on the Carroll lot or the new location. But Emily Cohen, an assistant director for the city’s Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, said officials had received the list of demands and were trying to respond.

“We’re definitely always interested in hearing from the clients on our programs,” said Cohen. “We want to make these programs as accessible, welcoming and dignified as possible.”

The city didn’t plan to address every complaint. Individual propane tanks and generators aren’t allowed because they pose a fire hazard, Cohen said. But the city tried to solve other problems, such as insufficient electricity supply.

“There are long-term plans for the power supply, but it’s going to take a while to get it up and running, so we’re working on an interim solution,” Cohen said. “There is currently limited power capacity available.”

The new site, which the city spends $2.8 million a year to operate, has running water, officials said.

City officials established the Carroll lot as a short-term emergency parking lot more than two months ago after a rainstorm caused flooding along the Hunters Point Expressway, where scores of people lived in vehicles. Some of the vehicles – and the belongings of the people inside – were badly damaged.

Officials say they only have access to the Carroll property until the end of the month, so they’re trying to get everyone to the new location as soon as possible.

As of Thursday noon, 17 households living in 15 RVs and two cars had moved from the Carroll property to the new vehicle center, according to Cohen. About 25 mobile homes and 42 cars remained.

Some homeowners involved in a local neighborhood group have filed a lawsuit against the secure parking lot, but its opening has not been delayed. Yet neighbors continue to resist what they see as an attempt to shelter the homeless in a corner of town.

“We shouldn’t be burdened with the uneven burden of housing these people,” said Shirley Moore, a longtime resident who lives in a house near the RV site. “If you’re going to let them park on our streets, let them park on the streets in every community throughout San Francisco and don’t focus them on our area.” It’s about balance.”

City officials point to the high concentration of people living in RVs and cars as justification for opening a large center to cater to them.

Regulatory District 10, which includes Bayview-Hunters Point, had more than 500 occupied vehicles in November — up from about 300 in April 2019, city data said. District 10’s latest count was far higher than that of the next most concentrated area, District 7, which had about 150 inhabited vehicles in November.

“The one common denominator that we can all agree on is that we have a lot of people living in vehicles in District 10,” said Supervisor Shamann Walton, who represents the area. “My job is to make sure we are responsive to the needs of the community and also to the needs of people who are not housed in vehicles or on the road. You can do both.”

About 20 vehicle residents gathered outside the Carroll property Wednesday afternoon to discuss the next step. Several said cooking and generator restrictions were one of the main reasons they didn’t want to move to the new location. Local residents also worried about whether the site would have enough water and electricity.

“They make it really impossible for people to be there,” said Cynthia Keener, 57.

She said she uses a nebulizer twice a day because she has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, and she doesn’t think the new property has enough infrastructure to accommodate her needs. She wondered if it wouldn’t be better to park her vehicle back on the street instead of driving to the sanctioned Candlestick Point lot.

Sonya Rekula-Talone, 54, said she and her husband had their own generator powering their vehicle, which was parked in the Carroll parking lot, on Wednesday. Her husband uses a walker and she works night shifts, so she was very concerned about the ban on generators at the new location.

“I will not leave my husband alone in the dark when he can barely walk,” she said.

Anderson, meanwhile, said that as of Thursday, some residents of the Carroll property were determined not to go to the new site until their demands were met, and he continued to lobby them.

“You don’t want to go anywhere where the situation is worse than here,” he said.

Despite hysterical headlines about shoplifting and overdosing, San Francisco has suffered hundreds, sometimes thousands, fewer COVID-19 deaths than other major US cities relative to its population.

On any given day, the national news media shifts its angle to expose just how “unsafe” San Francisco is these days. Resident Conservative Dickwad of the New York Post, Rich Lowry, complained of “the city’s reluctance to rule itself,” and oh, I’m sure this isn’t racist dog whistling, saying, “Looters reach for goods.” Some Media reports cite incidents in other cities but say “near San Francisco” just to ride that wave of hysteria. And many outlets like The Economist have had a hard time with “San Francisco killed more people from overdoses than from COVID-19,” which is tragically true, but for the reasons they may think, not.

You see, all of these reports have a pretty massive blind spot. San Francisco is actually the safest city in the US when it comes to COVID-19 deaths. And if the rest of the nation had had San Francisco health care, quality, and public safety so far, there would be more than 500,000 fewer Americans dead. (Though luck in the early pandemic saved the west coast from some of the horrors that New York and New Jersey experienced from March to April 2020.)

As we reconsider our behavior in the face of potential new threats, we’d like to remind that SF – with 78% full vax rate and sensible mask and other guidelines since March 2020 – has recorded 672 Covid deaths, 1/3 of the US pro -Head rate. If the US were comparable to SF, ~ 500,000 people who died from Covid would be alive.

– Bob Wachter (@Bob_Watcher) December 4, 2021

The chairman of UCSF medicine, Dr. Bob Wachter, had a semi-viral tweet a little over a week ago that really got us thinking. He found that San Francisco has “1/3 the US per capita rate” of COVID-19 deaths. So SFist did a little experiment and found the current COVID-19 death rates of the 20 largest US cities by population, and in fact, San Francisco now has by far the lowest death rate of any American city. Why is this?

“It’s a complex, multifactorial equation,” says Dr. Watcher across from SFist. “But at least part of the explanation is public health and vaccine-related behavior. For those who perceive this behavior as harshness, the question “Was it worth it?” Arises. With the hundreds, maybe thousands, of deaths averted in SF, that doesn’t seem like a difficult question to me. “

You’ll want to see the evidence, and here it is. We took the 20 largest US cities and compared their COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 population by county, as reported in the New York Times. Cities and counties have to be entered manually, but we entered each one, and this is how the top 20 US cities estimate the number of COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people.

New York City 419

Houston 383

Jacksonville 299

San Antonio 285.5

Phoenix 278

Los Angeles 272

Philadelphia 262

Fort Worth 244

Chicago 239

Indianapolis 235.6

Dallas 215

Austin 186

Columbus 184.5

Washington, DC 170

Denver 144

San diego 131

Charlotte 117

San josé 101

Seattle 93.8

San Francisco 77

Summarize; Jacksonville, Florida has nearly quadrupled San Francisco’s COVID death rate. Houston, Texas has nearly five times the COVID death rate of San Francisco. New York City has about five and a half times the COVID death rate of San Francisco.

To date, San Francisco has recorded 679 deaths from COVID residents. In the Bay Area with nine counties, just over 6,900 people were counted. New York City has seen nearly 35,000.

9 / Finally, to get to @ MonicaGandhi9’s talk on the falling death rate from Covid, George (@ 18:00) showed the following figure, which shows that SF not only has a low fall rate (albeit not as low as that of Seattle) but had, by far, the lowest death rate / case (0.87%) of any major US city. pic.twitter.com/IpVlUBCXaV

– Bob Wachter (@Bob_Wachter) September 11, 2020

SFist isn’t the first to discuss this. The Chronicle covered the city’s low mortality in depth in September 2020, and UCSF doctors had a panel on the matter in March. But these prices had ups and downs. Los Angeles had a lower death rate than SF last June. So things can change and this is no time to poke soccer balls or throw away masks. But San Francisco clearly did something very, very right.

“SF has some natural benefits; temperate weather – but also much of the country – relative wealth and many who can work from home, ”adds Wachter. He also attributes our low death rate success to “good health and lower obesity, [and a] strong medical system. “

But these are minor factors. The bottom line is that San Francisco buys masking and vaccination, and those are basically the only two factors that matter. That’s why our death rate is two-thirds lower than America as a whole. Otherwise: “I don’t think that two thirds of the deaths can be explained away,” Wachter told SFist.

The way we like to eat in restaurants has changed a lot in the last year and a half – operating hours are often reduced, proof of vaccination is required, and masks should be worn when not eating or drinking at the table just to few to name a few. But one thing that is returning to normal is our desire to meet again with friends and family at a large dining table.

While eating in large groups used to be as easy as choosing a number from a drop-down menu on a reservations page, it’s now a little more complicated as many restaurants have downsized or downsized staff. But as we enter a new holiday season with restaurants fully open and vaccines (and booster vaccines) widely available, a big dinner party with all of your loved ones could sound more attractive than it will be in at least a year and a half. That’s why we’ve compiled this list of restaurants that are best for large groups and that offer a guaranteed great time in many different forms – beer in a boot, endless meat, skeeball, etc and some of them maybe even you can your crew place at the very last minute depending on how deep you roll, of course.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A federal appeals court on Saturday temporarily suspended the Biden government’s vaccine needs for companies with 100 or more employees.

The U.S. 5th Court of Appeals granted an emergency postponement of the federal occupational health and safety agency’s requirement that these workers be vaccinated or require face masks and weekly tests by Jan. 4.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said the action prevented Democratic President Joe Biden from “advancing with his unlawful superiority.”

“The president will not impose medical procedures on the American people without the controls and countermeasures required by the constitution,” said Republican Landry in a statement.

Employment attorney Seema Nanda said the US Department of Labor was “confident in its legal authority to issue the preliminary emergency standard for vaccinations and testing.”

OSHA has the authority to “act quickly in an emergency if the agency determines that workers are at great risk and a new standard is needed to protect them,” she said.

Such circuit decisions usually apply to states within a county – in this case, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas – but Landry said the language used by the judges gave the decision national scope.

“This is a great victory for the American people out there. Never before has the federal government tried so vigorously to get caught between the decisions of an American citizen and his doctor. For me, that’s the core of the whole issue, ”he said.

At least 27 states have filed lawsuits against the rule in multiple circles, some of which have been made more conservative in the judiciary by the appointments of former Republican President Donald Trump.

The Biden government has encouraged widespread vaccination as the fastest way to end the pandemic that has claimed more than 750,000 lives in the United States.

The government says it is confident the requirement, which includes fines of nearly $ 14,000 per violation, will withstand legal challenges, in part because its security regulations pre-empt state laws.

The New Orleans-based 5th Circuit said it was delaying federal vaccine requests due to potential “serious legal and constitutional issues” raised by plaintiffs. The government is due to provide an expedited response to the request for an injunction on Monday, followed by the petitioners’ response on Tuesday.

Lawrence Gostin, a public health expert at Georgetown University Law School, said it was worrying that a federal appeals court would stop or delay safety regulations in a health crisis. “

“Unelected judges who have no scientific experience should not question health and safety professionals at OSHA,” he said.

On-chain cryptanalysis firm CryptoQuant announced on social media that it moved a total of $ 131 billion worth of bitcoin in a single day earlier this month, with just 1% of that amount being deposits and withdrawals on cryptocurrency exchanges.

The company’s Bitcoin Exchange Fund Flow Ratio, which measures the ratio of BTC transactions that include “all exchanges, to BTC transfers across the network,” hit a two-year low. The decreasing metric, the company adds, indicates an increase in over-the-counter (OTC) trades.

The large amount of BTC being moved and the fund flow rate plummeting to a two-year low suggests that “some are buying a lot of BTC,” according to the company’s CEO Ki Young Ju. According to him, bears could get into trouble if a large company announced it would buy bitcoin.

The CEO added that a similar situation occurred in September 2020, before the price of Bitcoin rose from around $ 11,000 to a new all-time high near $ 64,000 earlier this year. Ki Young Ju shared a tweet he posted at the time that showed a large amount of BTC being carried over on the chain while the fund flow ratio plummeted.

Back in February, Ki Young Ju accurately predicted that Bitcoin price would hit $ 50,000, citing the influx of stablecoin deposits from whales as a bullish signal. In January, the CEO said he had “no doubt” that Bitcoin’s price will hit $ 100,000 this year, although in the short term the bears may take the lead.

Ki Young Ju was tracking data on the San Francisco-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase as its outflows had apparently shown the presence of institutional investors buying BTC. Earlier in the month, outflows of $ 1.7 billion from the exchange suggested institutes buying bitcoins over $ 30,000.

Yes, we really do: The San Francisco 49ers have a not-so-far-fetched way into the postseason.

Many, many games will decide the fate of the Niners by then, and as the New York Times points out in its handy playoff predictor, there are still 2 septillion ways to end the season. (Translation: a lot.) From today’s perspective, San Francisco has about a one in fifth chance of somehow overcoming the worst injury luck in the league and qualifying for the postseason.

Those odds are The Times – which gives the Niners a 22% chance of a wildcard game and a 1% chance of winning the NFC West – and Football Outsiders, which gives it 17.2% for a wildcard slot and . 6% to take over the division.

Both websites say San Francisco’s surprising 23:20 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday was a season saver. It increased the overall 49ers quota by 11%, according to the Times, and was a net profit of 13.1% over Football Outsiders.

At 5-6, every game is a must for San Francisco from now on. The team could possibly afford one more defeat and sneak into the playoffs, depending on how the league rivals in NFC West finish. To this end, San Francisco has one particularly important game left: Week 16 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Before this crucial matchup is next Monday the game against the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco’s toughest remaining non-league opponents. Buffalo is 8-3 and first in the AFC East. Should the Niners beat the Bills, the Times says their chances of reaching the playoffs would increase to 34%; a loss reduces it to 15%.

San Francisco then plays back to back against bad NFC East opponents, the Washington Football Team and the Dallas Cowboys, who are notably in the playoffs. If the Niners are able to beat both of them and they beat the Bills, they have about a 60% chance of making the playoffs in week 16, according to the Times. If they lose to the bills that number will be 28%.

But the Cardinals game is most important. Arizona is 6-5, with two games remaining against the Los Angeles Rams, plus two NFC East opponents (the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles) and the 49ers. If the Niners lose to the Cardinals and the Bills, they’re toast. If they lose to the Bills but beat the Cardinals, they have a 63% chance of making it through the regular season. If the 49ers finally beat the Bills, sweep their NFC east slate and knock out the Cardinals, they’ll go in week 17 with an 88% chance of making the playoffs.

The final game against the Seahawks could end up being pretty important, but it’s not as important as the Cardinals matchup. Seattle is currently steering its own destiny for the division. There’s a not inconsiderable possibility that the Seahawks have already completed their sowing by the last week of the season, which means they might have their starters resting against the Niners. Even if they don’t, they are unlikely to be fighting for the same wildcard slot in San Francisco. The same cannot be said of the cardinals.

Currently, San Francisco is also behind the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings, 5-6 each, in the NFC. The Bears have lost five in a row and no longer appear to be serious contenders; The Vikings could potentially cause problems, but if they were to end the season it would be at the expense of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whom they will face in week 14. Tampa is 7-5 and can’t afford a loss to any other wildcard team.

If all of these scenarios are hurting your brain, think of it this way: the 49ers win, they are going to make the playoffs. If they lose, they don’t need it against the Cardinals, and they must trip the Vikings and Bears (and maybe Bucs) too.

Possible? For sure. Unlikely? Yes. Given the course of the season, “unlikely” playoff odds after 11 games are a pretty impressive feat.

Elon Musk confirmed that he is now selling his last house in San Francisco, although it is a very special place for him.

“I’ve decided to sell my last house. I just have to live with a big family that will live there. It’s a special place,” said Elon Musk on his official Twitter account.

(Photo: Photo by Joe Raedle / Getty Images)
Spacex founder Elon Musk celebrates after the successful launch of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket with the manned space probe Crew Dragon on May 30, 2020 at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Earlier in the day, NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley took off on a maiden flight and will be the first humans since the space shuttle program ended in 2011.

Some of his fans were very happy as he kept the promise he made back in May 2020. It all started with him saying that he was already planning to remove all of his physical possessions, including his homes.

Although this is the case, some have criticized his decision, especially since he already has a son with Grimes, who has been Elon Musk’s girlfriend for around three years.

“Where will Grimes & X Æ A-12 live if you don’t own houses?” said @ KaylaHungerfor2 in the comment section.

“It seems a little early to sell your house (s) if you plan to move to Mars. Don’t ask for an address, just be curious,” added the Twitter user.

Why does Elon Musk want to sell all of his properties?

According to the latest report from The US Sun, Elon Musk explained in an interview the reason he wanted to sell all of his possessions. SpaceX’s CEO said he believes physical properties are only weighing on his income.

(Photo: Photo by Drew Angerer / Getty Images)
Tesla CEO Elon Musk leaves federal court on April 4, 2019 in New York City. A federal judge heard oral arguments this afternoon in a lawsuit filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission seeking to convict Musk of violating a settlement agreement.

Musk even referred to these things as an attack vector. Based on his belief, he has previously stated that two of his California homes are already on the market.

That said, Tesla’s CEO sold his Bel-Air mansion back in 2020, which cost more than $ 29 million. Meanwhile, Elon Musk estimated he was able to sell six of his properties in the past 13 months, for a total of $ 114 million.

Because of this, the tech giant’s CEO decided to move to Texas into a house costing about $ 50,000. This is exactly in Boca, Chica, Texas.

Other activities by Musk

In addition to selling his real estate, Elon Musk also participates in the rise and fall of cryptocurrencies. Fortune reported that one of its bitcoin tweets increased Tesla’s holdings to around $ 143 million.

This is not surprising as it has already increased the value of Dogecoin with just one SpaceX tweet. Who knows what will happen in the next few days.
