This week in California politics
This week, Congressman Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo, announced that she would not seek another term. Speier has been in politics for over 40 years and has represented the residents of San Francisco and San Mateo in Congress since 2008. Vice President Kamala Harris is also on the defensive after a poll earlier this month found a dismal 28% poll. We will also discuss the reaction of California politicians to the no-guilty verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial.
Guests:
- Mark Z. Barabak, Los Angeles Times columnist
- Marisa Lagos, KQED Policy and Government Correspondent
Something beautiful: the golden ice skate
This week’s look at Something Beautiful features spinning lights and disco music on the San Ramon Golden Skate. After nearly 50 years in business, management has announced that it will close the rink – but not before the holidays, so that skaters have a few more weeks to do a few more laps.
