Wells Fargo Specific Workplace – French Corral, California

Drive along the back roads of In rural Nevada County, the remnants of the area’s rich, historical past are difficult to see. However, the Wells Fargo Express building in French Corral is hard to miss.

Founded in 1849, the French Corral community was, as the name suggests, the site of a mule pen created by a French settler. Gold was also discovered nearby and the city began to prosper.

Fire was the order of the day in Mining West. Most of the structures were made of wood and canvas that could easily be set on fire. Italian stonemasons and masons were used to build fireproof buildings with iron doors and shutters to hold back the flames.

This Wells Fargo, built in 1853, housed gold from the nearby mining operations until it could be shipped to San Francisco. It is estimated that up to $ 4,000,000 worth of gold has been extracted from the mines, which is equivalent to $ 138 million based on today’s values.

French Corral is now considered a half-ghost town. Agriculture and livestock are the only major industries in the region.
