Wind Advisory For San Francisco: NWS

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Wind gusts up to 50 mph (50 mph) could occur in San Francisco, the National Weather Service warns as it issues a wind report that is in effect from 5 p.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday.

Winds this strong could topple branches and nearby power lines, NWS warns. Drivers of high profile vehicles and those pulling trailers are also urged to exercise particular caution.

The coast will be the first to feel the increasing winds.

The wind recommendation is particularly worrying for the fire brigade as it prepares for forest fire hazards. This was the driest rainy season since 1977, and the drought increases the likelihood of devastating forest fires.
